February Update - Auto Macro Status

I'm going to create monthly threads to update you guys on progress or what I've been working on to help establish a bit better communication and feedback.

Not too much in the way of macro improvements this month as I haven't been in the game very much. I went ahead and pushed out saar's hotfix for rezing in auto_clr.mac. I also expanded the auto macro's guide a bit, See The-Ultimate-Auto-Macro-Guide, I will eventually get all the sub-routines in here. I'm also going back to change the .mac to .inc for the macros as a couple folks have gotten confused and launched the wrong macro (myself included lol). I think streamlining this so you will always use /mac auto is the way to go. I have also redone the macro thread and removed the donation button. I will continue to update the macros through Dropbox and on the site if you have already donated. I am also working on cleaning this up so its a bit more Noob friendly.

I've taken a leave of absence from RedGuides (and therefore EQ) so my apologies if obvious elsewhere: What class is currently being engineered to be the next autobot? It goes without saying that your work is simply brilliant. Is there a ballpark ETA (by quarter or even year) of the current work? I'm especially looking forward to the enchanter and druid works.

It's amazing how much learning and new ideas of a class one gains from using these macros. In theory, using an completely automated macro would have the opposite effect, that using these tools would make a player perform worse at the class without the tools. I have found this to not be the case at all. Observing behavior often invokes "Oh, I never noticed..." or "I should have thought of that..." or " I wonder if I can expand and push this concept I've only just discovered..." I'm a much better player as a result of this. Does it make me an expert in a single class or any class? Obviously not. But does it make me personally a better player on my own? Absolutely.

Thank you for your continuing work on the project.

I'm trying to expand the guides so someone that is a master enchanter or druid can make or at least do a rough sketch of what it should do. My idea of both these classes is very basic, enchanters = crack and mez stuff, druids = stand there and look pretty. The idea is to make the framework so good, that someone that has mastered each class will be able to write the bot. Then, if needed, I can help push it the extra mile to get it up to snuff. It is a slow and steady project that I believe will get there. I'm starting by expanding the guide and hope to follow it up by youtube videos.

Something i did for my auto macros, was crate an autop folder, and only have the auto.mac in the main macro folder, and the rest in the auto folder, and then just added /atuo/auto_subs.inc.
that way i get a bit clearner macro folder and everything about auto macros is in one place.

I am also considering changing it so th inis go in there, again to keep everything auto in one place.

maybe consider making one or both of these the standard install situation for the entire set?

I like it, I'll put it in on next update. Although I will spell the directory automacros ;)

Whatever you did to change the dropbox folder, the new macros aren't actually contained in the automacros folder...

You have to go to 2018 automacros (old format) to get anything usable

Yes I am about to change the location so they aren't scattered in the Macros folder. The auto.mac will launch the macro from Macros/automacros sub folder and all the files will be self contained in there. Be looking for this change in the next couple weeks. I'm working out the specifics of this change, and will be moving the main loop into the autosubs.inc file.

i use auto macros by substituting kissassist for classes which dont have automacros set up currently.

I initiate it by running /bca //mac auto and then deive the tank manually.

Is there a line I can add to auto.mac to target the sender of the /bca command?

Would stop me running /tar toonname at the start :)

Hey Noobhaxor

Haven't seen any updates (or posts) from you in a while. Hope all is well. Still looking forward to seeing that Symphony of Battle feature implemented :)

I'm still lurking around, I haven't been playing EQ lately, but was working on a big redesign of Auto Macros and got lost in the weeds. I wanted to isolate all the macros into their own sub directory but after a big rewrite I figured out you can't put .mac files in sub directories. So I need to toss all that in the trash and start back at square one. On top of that, I didn't really like the new expansion and didn't play much of it. I'm sure I'll be back soon (tm) as I always return to the first love of MMOs.
