Question - Fastest path to max level and aa ... matter of timing?

I have been taking my new toons from heroic to 105 with auto-grant on, and then doing AA's.

But ... got a buddy of mine leeching now, and at L90 he is getting almost 1AA per kill. Got me to thinking maybe I should max AA's at each level on the way to 105?

personally I prefer maxing level first, but then I do not need the new toon to handle a lot while AAing him.

Once thy are 15%+ into max level, I shift them to 90% AA... until they are max XP then obviously go to 100. Will drop back to 90% if they lose to much XP from deaths.

/aaspend bonus on. And don't turn autogrant on until bonus aa's can't be bought anymore. When u are level 100 you can turn on the autogrant. Doing it any other way will be slower.
I do 1-100 in 4 days now including bonus aa's before. Yeah I'm old school, I don't know if it's fast or not but its good enough for me.

Really levels > AA unless he's playing a tank then he wants his core tank aa then levels but no junk AA. This is specially true of the support classes.

I do The Small Stone Tear on all my characters and the best time to do that is when you can have a crap ton of Alarans con red. This will help majorly in leveling up the tear through kills while collecting fragments, so you'll end up needing to collect less fragments.

All my characters are max level/aaexp. My core group could have probably maxed level and aa's again 4 or 5 more times since they initially maxed out. When I started working the tear for the first 12 of my accounts, they were already max level/aa's, so my time spent maxing a lot of my bots tears was time spent for no other reason than to work on the tear (and farm stuff). Alarans don't drop expansion wide rares btw because if they did than I'd have a bank full of bags stuffed with alaran expansion wide rares from the gajjillion amount of alarans I have killed.

Anyway, the last 2 I did went much faster just because all the alarans weren't light blue cons. I just step laddered them up till they maxed aa's for that level before going to the next level to keep alarans at a high con for as long as possible while still working on aa's/levels. If you have any plans to work on the tear, rushing to max level will make leveling the tear take longer and overall you'll spend more time grinding camps you have no reason to do except the tear.

I'm SoL on the tear. I still haven't done it on my main tank, who is a SK, but I will at some point.

I currently run sk,bard, cleric, wiz, mage and I am thinking about a 6th. The mage is the only one who doesn't have max AA atm. I noticed how crazily fast 85-105 is compared to 16,000+ AA's I'm now working on for the mage.

I was just thinking if I make a 6th I should do it the smartest way possible from a time perspective.

I'm thinking about a warrior or an enchanter, but it really wouldn't matter which since my core 5-man team will be doing all the work to start with. (the idea of a second tank if I ever got uber stupid and had more than one group is somewhat alluring)

At the right camp you could pull around 50 AA/hour, so not TOO long to get those last 8k AAs that autogrant doesn't cover.

Also tanks with 2hers are dealing silly DPS now... My SK sustains 75k DPS, while zerker sits around 55k and rng/bst/wiz around 40k (I understand some of that is him attacking first, but he'd still win if assisting I think). I've been tempted to level up a paladin to use as a DPS class lol.

How the heck are you covering that much ground in 4 days? I would love a detailed description on how to do that. I'm slowly grinding out DH HA's to get there. Thanks!

Detailed description:
Note: I do use exp pots from the legacy satchel as well as any lessons they have from veteran rewards.
1-16 turn in red wine - time taken about 30 mins
16-70 hatching a plan - time: 4 hours or so depending on if I do a full group or just single toon
70-100 sk swarming, killing about 800 level 87 mobs per hour. no autogrant on just pure exp to level - time 3 days and 13 hours
and on the third day as soon as they turn 100 I do /aaspend bank 90 and /aaspend bonus on.
About 6 hour later they have all the aa's bought that are NOT autogranted. (About 1500-2200 depending on class) it's that fast since you get like 3-400 per hour when you take full advantage of the bonus)
That's when I check the autogrant box, camp out and camp in and boom about 6-7k aa good and ready.

I know it sounds easy, but it has taken me months of preparation and getting all macros and plugins for my personal setup to work as I need them to.

Don't be discouraged if you can't get this done as efficiently or as quick, if the will is there you can do this too all macro commands needed are in core. I don't use any closed source plugins.

Hey EQMule,

What does "Sk swarming killing" mean?

Thx
JJB

Take a high level SK with his 2.0 and a powerful 2h weapon. You can reliably pull 20+ mobs depending on how good the SK is, pop the 2.0, and riposte the mobs to death. The Mortal Coil AA has a 25% chance of proccing, which has the same effect as the 2.0, and keep it going nearly indefinitely. It works best on mobs with low hp that the SK can kill quickly.

What he said, in my case I didn't bother with the epic I just kill a few lobs for mortal coil then pull the zone. I'll post a video at some point when I have time.

I'm guessing the neriak faction quest? http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=159

This. 2.0 is just a convenience item.

There is a TON of info out there, on youtube and otherwise, on how to SK swarm. I had a lot of fun leveling up my SK, and PLing my whole box crew with him while swarming past level 80 or so.

If you're just doing your best to take a toon on max AA and levels in a short time, then yes - maxing out AA every level (with /aaspend bonus on) will save you a lot of time. If you want to be able to enjoy gaming meanwhile, go max level first.

I turn in redwine to lady shae in Freeport and it takes about 30 mins to get to level 16 I tried it like a week ago and it was still working. (I'm not on a TLP server) Costs about 2-3k plat or so. The merchant opposite of her sells the wine.
I know it was nerfed it used to take 5 mins... But to 16 it's still fast.

I musta been tired and left the porter toon in group or something then, what happens when I EQ during insomnia attacks =)

You have a slow macro then ;)

Ok I feel nice, this will probably get it even more nerfed but whatever its not like we cant do other quests if its only to 16...

Instructions: Start in front of lady shae in west Freeport.
If the merchant (Swin), wont sell to you cause of faction, use an illusion potion or some other means to become indif to him.
I think there might be some quests to up merchants of Freeport faction, though but spending time on that kinda defeats the purpose of a quick 1-16 here...
If you have to buy wine some other place and is kos to Lady Shae , a few stacks of rw will make u non kos to her, and u can invis with another char before u turn in and u get faction with her... (this almost turned into a guide... maybe I should just have posted it in that section...)

Saying I'm missing move.inc. Just a heads up. :)

Edit: Found a copy of it. He's moving well now.

Edit2: Level 16 at 32 minutes played. That includes gating to PoK and running to WFP after grabbing some cash, and buying some toolboxes in EFP.
