Farming Chardok
A Guide for the Musically Inclined

Prerequisites

1.Fading Memories (Required)
2.Run 3 (recommended)
Levels
1.64-70 (Required)
Songs
1.Call of the Banshee (Required)
2.Requiem of Time (Required)
Factions
1.Brood of Di'Zok (recommended)

Introduction

Chardok is a Kunark Expansion zone with standard mobs ranging in level from 42-60 with a mix of living and undead. The zone's faction is based off of the Brood of Di'zok. I recommend anyone interested in this guide to raise their Brood of Di'Zok faction as it will make their experience there much more forgiving if mistakes are made. The zone has three different levels, two of which you will be working with primarily. In this guide I will discuss killing strategies, named locations, loot tables and secret shortcuts.

AA Abilities

There is only one AA ability truly required for this project. Fading memories is necessary since you will be charming mobs and upsetting other mobs around you. Whenever you are done killing a place holder or named mob you will have to fade your charmed pet's agro or the agro of other mobs used around you as there are no near exits to zone out with.

Levels

The reason for the level 64 minimum requirement is for the use of Requiem of Time (slow) and Call of the Banshee (charm) which are level 64 songs.

Songs

Call of the Banshee will be used for charming pets to kill the named mobs or charming the place holder to let it die to other mobs to avoid faction hits. Requiem of Time will be used to slow named mobs when facing them off with a charmed pet so as to give your pet the leading advantage.

Factions

The zones faction is based off of the Brood of Di'Zok. It is not required to have this faction, but it will really help you when you make an error. For instance, if you were to accidently agro way to many mobs or for some fluke reason your gear suddenly turns to pre-luclin crap and you may actually die, you won't have time to make it to one of the two zone outs which will be covered later on. So, of course, once you fade you lose all agro you had and you won't have to worry about gaining agro from the random undead places throughout the zone thanks to your faction. Faction can be gained from a few zones covered here: Shameless link to Allakhazam. One more thing I almost forgot about faction is that the zone DOES have a banker right next to spawn "0" on the second map below as well as a merchant at spawn "9" that you can use if your faction is high enough, this is handy for putting multiple lore drops on other toons utilizing your shared bank.

Killing Place Holders

The best method for killing place holders involves charming the place holder at the below locations and attacking a large group of mobs with said pet. After your pet dies you will of course fade. This method prevents you from taking faction hits while clearing the zone's place holders. The following pictures will give you an idea as to what I am talking about. They display my pet (the targeted creature) being attacked by a few dozen mobs.

Killing Named

Named killing will be done at one of two kill locations that I have found to be safe, add free, killing spots. Almost all encounters will utilize charm to attain a pet to do the grunt work in killing a named mob. Named can be moved to the designated killing locations by charming the named mob and taking him to the location. Remember when charming any mob to be sure that you have either lulled all the surrounding mobs or made sure there are none near by so you can prevent agro. There are a few exceptions where place holders and named mobs will have to be killed using good ole sword and sweat.

Exceptions
MAP 1:
Spawn 1 (too far away)
Spawn 2 (too far away)
MAP 2:
Spawn 2 (cannot be charmed)

Here is a picture of a charmed pet I retrieved from kill spot on map two after taking the named to that location

Image 1

This is a screenshot of me killing a named at the kill spot on map one. Note: When you bring the named mob to the kill spot on map one you will need to mez it when charm breaks and quickly go grab a mob for a pet nearby that at least cons the same as the named.

Helpful hint
Give your pet an extra weapon while its charmed and it gaines double attack.
Don't forget to snare! The named DO run!

Getting to Chardock

The are two paths you can take on foot to Chardock. I recommend Path B if you wish to avoid Player VS Player activity.

Path A: Plane of knowledge --> The Overthere --> Skyfire Mountains --> Burning Woods --> Chardok
Path B: Plane of Knowledge --> Firona Vie --> Dreadlands --> Burning Woods --> Chardok

Secrets

See the video I made in the following link that shows you a secret passage inbetween map one and map two to save you time from running all over the zone to change levels. This passage is located inside the waterfall near the bank and Halls of Betrayel zone in.

Secret Video

Loot

As you can see when you dig through the the loot above, alot of this loot is dropable twink loot that can be sold for a good chunk of change or used for your own purposes. There are a few 75hp no level requirement dropable items above.

Post is for access to everquest one section.

That about wraps it up

Hmm, I started playing EQ a little bit pre-DoD. Honestly I don't think I've zoned into Chardok and have no idea what goodies might be available there. Clickies and tradeskill drops are the only thing I can think of that a zone of this age and level would have of interest to me.

Having said that, your presentation so far is superb and should serve as a model to others. I work as a lead engineer, so I see many, many presentations in RL. This one has the earmarks of a professional. Your research appears thourough. So grats on your post--so far. You have piqued my interest, but haven't delivered the punch line yet...

You have to recode into mpeg2 or mpeg4 or something. That will dramatically reduce the size. You can also decrease the resolution.

I don't know if videos are really needed, though. Screenshots would be good.

Re: Farming Chardok, A Guide For the Musically Inclined

YES

Didn't check for copy and pastes but it looks like a LOT of effort was put into it.

you do realize MQ2 (a program this site lives on) shows that information for you?

but I will consider it since it only takes me a few minutes

nvm see post above

Re: Farming Chardok, A Guide For the Musically Inclined

Very nice. You're right, the other reason to farm these items is for twink gear (even though some slots are easy to get in the baz now-a-days)

And yes, I am aware of the irony of misspelling a word in the middle of saying that I am such a freakin' authority on professionalism. /grin

Re: Farming Chardok, A Guide For the Musically Inclined

thats why i said i was lazy cause i knew in game desc shows trib and i could goto lucy. i just wanted to see trib value right in strat so i could determine whether that named or this named was worth farming or not quickly without having to research it myself.
