YMMV, but when this issue presented itself on test when they first pushed the new UI there.. the "solution" was to change your UI..

So, go into EQ - Options and under Load UI skin, there's two choices for the new / old.. default and default (gf) .. see my pic attached.. try one or the other..

1684353930865.png

hopefully that will help.. I believe what its doing is reverting to the old UI and not using the new one...

thats cool i was just hoping somone sees this and had same issue and maybe figured out the fix ,,, ill see if i can un do what theve done to the ui files
well I was responding to you asking me directly if i had any fixes for it.

if you're not using default ui, you might consider doing so, if you are using default i guess you'll have to wait until daybreak fixes it.

sorry to hear you're having troubles :(

"gf" for "get fucked" from daybreak, prolly

The best fix I've found is to get copies of the old .XML files and put them into a folder alone, then load that UI as your UI.

They still let you use .xml files for the files they've 'upgraded' which is pretty interesting.

the "GF" ui is hilarious because unless they've changed something recently, EQ can't load a UI with a space in it.. so it just loads default.

My 17th 2023 Update notes
Your stuff does not work since the last update... dont just tell us it's ready.. Link it in your update.. tell us exactly where to go to get it OR better yet.. automate the download and update of it!!!!!

Oddly enough, they left the two EQUI files in the default UI folder.. so if you create your own UI folder (with no spaces) in the everquest/uifiles path, and load that... you load the old default UI.

once you do that, just /loadsk in game, select your new UI and boom, old default UI without their new trash is back.

I've logged in several characters on 3 accounts. So far, only one has had the inventory always on top/flicker thing. Everybody else has been fine. They're all using the same ui from the same folder.
I only use a default with old spell gems, so very lightly modified. Reloading the ui on the one character has returned normal behavior. Its very odd so say the least.

-edit-
Load default, new f'd up behavior.
Load exact copy of default, old behavior.

If you look in the EQ directory there is a new folder called "LayoutConverter"

Run the .exe in there, it's designed to convert custom UI's to work on the new engine. There's a PDF "how to" in that folder also.

Edit: scratch that, the converter doesn't run either... cupid stunts!

My first patch day -- How long does it take the MQ Launcher to get updated so I can use it again?

Not the ideal answer but it goes like this...
It gets updated when it gets updated. Factors such as, changes to EQ's code can mean it takes a few hours or a few days. Can watch the thread for Live/Test so you get an alert when it's ready.

My first patch day -- How long does it take the MQ Launcher to get updated so I can use it again?
What to expect on patch days?
When eq patches MQ has to be rebuilt. (you also have to patch EQ --- this way you avoid "Version Mismatch" issues)

once mq is built RG can build - we now have an automated system that rebuilds RG as soon as it is updated - which means our previous method of "let's give it a quick test" is no longer there, and sometimes there ends up being another smaller patch later to correct if something got missed - so re-check on patch days if you are having issues.

eq could change literally anything and it would require the way MQ interacts with that portion of EQ to be completely reworked. It is normally just offsets, sometimes struct changes --- with the large changes eq has been making over the past few months (updates and backend improvements) there are more things than just offset changes that are happening, so it can certainly be a lot of work for the devs.

Curious when Very Vanilla will be updated?
You'll get a web notification (if we have permission), site notification, and email (optional)

MacroQuest for Live servers:
MacroQuest for Test server

EQ patches go like this: (in theory)
2nd* tue/wed = test "real" patch
3rd* wed = live patch
4th* tue/wed = test "true up

the tue over the wed is a more recent thing (I suspect klanderso has more to do with that, and having time to ensure working stuff before the weekend and upset people - klanderso is pretty awesome)
* holidays subject to cause shifts in days or even week

test is notorious for being like "oops we forgot the 'dont crash plz' file, gotta patch again", or "woops we added +1 to crashing, we meant -1", so "on paper" it is double the patches, but very frequently ends up being more than double the work (i imagine, I'm not doing the work - I'd love to learn enough at some point to help facilitate doing so, however)

Mq itself is open source and by volunteer(s) - RG which builds and distributes that is obviously paid for.

This new UI is weird..... Like my AA window now pops up UNDER my inventory window, and no matter what I do, I can't get it do do what it used to. No real huge changes that I can see, nothing that is really impacting me, anyway.
