EverQuest Exploit in Scarlet Desert

I would like access to the EverQuest boards. And if it's good enough, perhaps access to WoW boards as well! =)

Hi!

I would like to try and get access to your EQ1 forums, and I have an exploit that people don't seem to know about yet. Here it goes!

This exploit will work in the Scarlet Desert which is on Luclin, connected to Twilight Sea, which is easily reached from GuildPortal in Guild Hall. When you zone into SD <Scarlet Desert> from Twilight Sea, head out of the tunnel, and once you are out of it, run up the hill and to the right. If you open your map, it is near a big plateau on the east side.

There is a giant and very tall plateau on which you can fight tribal and sun people. On the bottom, there is a ramp which will take you to the top. You will
fight at the bottom of the ramp. This trick requires a pet and/or DoT spells. You can easily get a few mobs <rockhoppers work the best as they do not cast. Sun revenants may be tougher but are doable. If you try revenants, make sure your resists are high!> and cast your dots, sic pet and run up the ramp. Don't run too far, there are two big rocks on the side of this ramp.
If you strafe off the ramp and onto the rocks, the mobs will stop chasing you, turn around, and run down the ramp and to the rocks. Apparently they cannot jump off the ramp if you jump on the first or second big rock. Make sure pet taunt is off. As the mobs chase you and get closer, just sidestep either back on the ramp or back to the rock, and mobs will never touch you. This may take a little practice to get the jump location and timing just right.

The idea is this..

Pull mob with DoT, sic pet with pet taunt off, run up the ramp, sidestep to the rock or even to the ground next to it, cast another DoT or pull another mob when the first gets to 50% health or so while the mob turns to catch back up, sidestep back onto the ramp again when the mob is almost caught up to you, lather, rinse, and repeat until you run out of mobs. The repop time is about enough to regen your mana at least enough to run through this cycle again.

The Scarlet Desert also has an exp bonus, or did when I was doing this, so
it is an easy way to solo and grind out exp. The only downside is that it can get a little boring, and there is no loot to speak of, but I have never seen anyone else do it, and there arent usually <on my server anyway> any other people in this area.

Using this technique I went from 38 to 52 in a week or two playing a few hours here and there.

Good luck and happy exploiting!!

Now can I have some red cents or access? You know I deserve it! =P

I'd give you my thumbs up if you included the guarranteed shard drop spot here.

if this is the platform i am thinking.. I got mine off the mobs on top of it

I was just thinking about this post I put up, and I wanted to say that if anyone read this and gives it a shot, I'd love to hear about it. I was excited when I figured this out, actually I was ecstatic about it! It happened by accident actually, and when I told my guild about it, they said to stop it because it was an exploit. After being told what an exploit was and knowing that there could be more out there, I started searching the net for more, and eventually came upon this site. I paid for a membership a week or two ago and love this site. Don't get me wrong, MQ2 is awesome, and I love to use it, but finding natural things like this is even better I think. Anyway, like I said I would love if someone tried this too, and gave some feedback. I imagine that you could do this at a lower level than I started doing it at, if your DoTs are good enough, because if you get the movement right (and it isn't that hard) you don't really take any damage at all. So, let me know what you guys think!

The shard TP's talking about is a Lucid Shard. Its one of many you need (among other items) for Vex Thal access.

VT shard is random off the sun mobs on top of the plateau, not off any one mob/spawn.

It's one individual mob that drops it every time.

its random drop.. i camped the top of the platform and got it off 2 DIFF mobs.. I had 3 toons that needed the shard.. and boxed them ..

the were the same type of mob. .. i think sun reaver but i forget..

just 2 diff spawns

easy as pie

Yeah, but there is one mob that's tucked in one spot that has dropped it every time I've killed it. One of my good buddies showed it to me and I went and got it on my main and all 4 of my alts on the first kill of that mob.

Yes this is confiremned as a Z-axis explote I say this is good for 1 free month, A very basic strat that works in many Pre-pop zones. And written very well with great detail

hehe, anyone wanna mac this? Bet some classes could start at level 30-32 and make it to 52 easy in a mostly empty zone

Thanks for the compliment! It is nice to hear that someone thinks I write well. Hearing that you have a good grasp of the english language and basic principles of grammar can give a person a sense of pride in their postings. However, soemtims I mispel werds and my graamar isnt good and i forget things like good capatalisation and make runon sentences and dont use commas or apostrophys when they are needed but i guess its a good thing that dosnt hapen often because id be pritty embarased about it if i did that obn a forum that i like and peopel thot i was stupid or somthing.

=P

Thanks for the praise, and thanks Redbot for the <MAX EXTENDED REDGUIDES ACCESS>.

As for making a macro for this... That will have to be done by the pros. I can just barely use the dang things, much less try to build one. My hat's off to you compilers out there for the hard work you do and effort spent learning the stuff! =)

It wouldn't be too hard to make a macro for it. I just need a level 32 character to test it with :)

LOL yeah, I know.

I suppose the point of this site and the things we learn from it is how to work smarter, and not harder. Or in other words, be lazy, and take advantage of SOE at every possible chance.

I don't feel any guilt for this at all though, when you have to spend 30 dollars every few months on top of 15 a month for game access, and then having to coerce 20 or 30 people to go with you for a chance that your mob might be up and that you all might survive to get the thing that you need.

I know the point of the game is to be challenged and to work together, but I personally can't afford to devote the time needed to be a high end player. Wish I could.. it would be nice to get paid to play EQ.

Oh well, that's my little rant for the day! Hehe

By the way, interesting story perhaps... I zoned into WoS yesterday trying to run out to the Pixt camp in NC, and when I jumped off of the zone in platform, I chose a terrible spot to do it. I landed right in front of Cipheron, who if you don't know, is very grouchy.

"OK, here we go!"

/em jumps off the platform.

"Alright, let's see gotta head nort.... Uh.. Err.. Hi there, Mr. Cipheron! You sure look nice today. Did you get a haircut?" :p

/em gets smacked with a 1500dmg AoE stun twice.

"Sorry! I didn't notice it when you had it done last week! What? No really, I was going to call you back I promise I just got really busy with stuff! OUCH!!!"

/em gets beaten down mercilessly.

I like the classic VT keying of people...but for a quick fix /zone Vexthal works just fine , with or without keys :) Trio'd some of the zone with friends the other day (Was annoying since mobs have insanely high HP for older content though)

hate to say this but there is an easier way to do this and that is pull mob snare it fear it from top it runs down fear goes off it runs back up and you fear it again. easiest if duo a chanter and a druid chanter tash and fear druid snares stick pet on mob and dot the hell out of it. doing this we used to clear the top of 10 to 20 mobs while normal group would do maybe 2 if they were lucky.

Crazy, I used to use this spot with my wizard about 3 years ago, and it was nerfed. (The two rocks over the ledge and attached to the ramp.)
I tried and tried to get it to work again and it wouldn't. I used to pull everything I could caster or not, and kept a spell shield u and had all resist buffs I could get, and I would aoe the hell out of it.

They must have screwed up and un~nerfed it by mistake.

LOL.... now, if only they would accidently un-nerf the chanter/druid DS/rune exploit again .... ahhh, those were the days of chanter tanking :P
