EverQuest1 faster than bardspeed with out hacking.

Anyhow a friend showed me this site and I was wanting a month pass to get into the members section for EQ1.

This trick is somthing i just kinda stumbled on... I was pvping on the Zek server with my laptop. I was upstairs on my couch when i noticed, "woops low batery..." I went downstairs to my basement plugged the comp in and all of a sudden my toon is running like he just shot roids straight into his heart.

I was impressed decided to do some testing, to see if i could recreate the exploit... long story short, I found that baisicly I have my laptop set as most people do to slow down its' processor when it's not plugged in and when it's plugged back in it automaticly speeds up.. When you start EQ at a slower processor speed and while running it you speed your processor up it causes the game to speed up as well. The more you speed your processor up the faster it goes...

This causes your character to fly at break neck speeds thru a zone... Unfortunatly the only draw back to this pretty little exploit is that it causes all your timers to speed up as well so buffs dont last very long... but you get to use your discs more offten wich is nice.

That's new to this site, but we've tried to figure out how to make MQ2 cause this on other sites. It's quite funny how much EQ relies on the system clock.

P.S. This probably doesn't trigger the speedhack checker either.

Hell he used punctuation. Yeah it's something new and useful. I vote yes.

By the way, who's your friend here?

Hey I broke down and bought a year access to members section. $24.00's is fair, Thnx guys. I didn't even bother to look at the subscription fee, I never thought it would be so low. Thats why I posted my exploit.

Welcome aboard ;)

(Still wanna know who your friend is :p I'm taking a wild stab in the dark here...politicly incorrect?)

since you're already in..i'm moving this to the paid section

welcome to redguides

I've known this for a while but really the game is unplayable on a laptop. It's cool for a bit, the speed and everything but afterwards you get so tired of being out of sync with everything in the world. By the way this works with EQ2. Sony has real troubles properly working with speedstep.

My Alienware 3.2ghz 1gig 256 ATi radeon mobility can run 2 EQ1's and 1 eq2 at the same time with hardly any problems. I think it's due more to the system processor that alienware's use tho. Only drawback to these laptops are they are the price, heavy as fuck and low battery life (1.5hrs per battery gaming). Mine with a keyboard mouse and 2 extra batteries weights in around 30lbs in the backpack. Takes awhile to get used to, but after lugging it around to University everyday you build some nice muscles :P

There is a problem between EQ2 and laptops tho where your character automatically runs slower than everyone else by like 10%, but I always just bought my laptop character a faster horse.

I've noticed this too. Does it make you regen mana faster as well? Playing on a laptop can be frustrating ... at times I randomly click down into slowmotion and randomly into hyperspeed.

Goto your laptops power options and set the scheme to "Always On" eliminates that scaled slowness.

Haha, nice.

Now I know how it came the one day I played my pally as usuall on my laptop, and he run awefully fast, then I used his AA-Horse. I tell ya it was nearly impossible to steer it thru a zone. Nice to know tho how to do this now, will give my bard an additional boost for pulling and kiteing stuff which
he wouldnt be able to, otherwise.

Thx.

i get this when i run 2 or more instances of EQ on same computer.. its nice for the faster then brd speed but when you box a cleric it sucks cuz it also speeds up everything else and when you cast heals they dont exactly land when you need them to.. hence KERSPLAT youre dead..

no punchuation deal wiht it

just FYI for anyone botting

Alienware = overpriced :P My desktop that I probably paid 1/3 the price can do 11 EQs ^^ it lags when you have multiple zoning, but I use to 6box on it all the time when I was too lazy to use multiple cpus.

mm k intresting hack, but i dont understand how it works, how does it just speed up ur char? wont it speed up the whole game u see?

surely it would make the mobs move as fast as you do and u would see all the other PCs and NPcs move at the same speed?

if thats the case wouldnt the client try to keep up with the server (or slow down as the case may be) and you would see pcs and npcs warping back a bit, wouldnt you do the same?

sry could be totaly off but making the processer speed up as u described would effect everything you see in eq not just your toon. lol

I get this effect on my desktop (and my laptop, too) by simply staying logged on to EQ for at least 24 hours straight, 48+ works even better. I used this while quad-kiting prior to knowing anything at all about MQ.

The symptoms are:

1) Horse startup and slowdown almost disappears, I often forget that my horse is up or don't notice that it is down, depending.

2) Motion is jerky when moving, but smooth when pivoting, MOB may appear to cover ground, then warp backward and re-cover the same ground over and over. It actually seems like the mobs are moving slower than normal, but since that is controlled server-side it's probably just my perception.

3) Character moves at 3X-5X speed or more, depending on how long I've been logged on. Quadding is a lot about timing. With this method, it is extremely easy to go OOR of the mobs accidentally, then have to actually turn around and run back to get in range to nuke--wierd, I know, :) and this is completely hackless. I play a Wiz, btw. You can run from the Cobalt Scar wiz-port to the end of the ridge in a flash, very easy to lose aggro on the named mobs that way.

4) I can tell I have broken the "threshhold" where speed goes crazy when mob corpses start displaying as still standing up instead of dropping to the ground when killed.

Those looking for non-exploit exploits, (you know what I mean), should give this a try.

I've had this happen several times on my PC before but could never recreate it... YES, it does effect everything you see in everquest; buff timers, mob runspeed, discipline timers, mana regen, HP regen, everything. Now if we could control how much it speeds gameplay up by... maybe we could get almost instantly reuseable disc timers.

your comp can only effect the client side of the EQ servers. If you did change something non-client side, it sends up flags to SOE. the whole way that it works, like Tone said, it speeds up YOUR game clock. This is a great hack, im gonna try to figure out if i can do the same thing by over clocking my PC. will get back to you guys on this one.

It makes EQ shitty and unplayable and isn't a hack in the least....Everything you cast delay's are thrown off, mob movement is choppy and it is blatant to everyone else, or so I'd think.

As I said, this is for novelty purpose only, it has no real point.
