Does EQ still use midi? I know everything is .mp3 now and I don't see any .mid in the directory anymore, but some sounds are still sounding midi-ish.
Maybe these sounds are packaged? Like in some old zones there are triggers when you move into certain areas it will play different music/atmospheric sounds.

I doubt it still uses midi files, most been converted to mp3 if not WAV.

the old midi files are still there, and you can play them externally with some tweaking and third-party apps.
