I run a few groups, both on Test and Live. I want to complete and use my epics but not sure what is worth getting and what is not now days. The toons that I run are as follows:
Monk, Shaman, Cleric, Berserker, Warrior, Magician, Bard and Rogue.

So far on Live, I have gotten the Shaman 2.0, Monk 1.0
So far on Test, I have gotten the Shaman 2.0, Monk 1.0 and Bard 1.0

Of the toons listed above, what Epics should I go get 2.5? On the live servers I use KA12 (ALL Toons) and on Test I use CWTN and KA12 (Bard and Mag).

Thank you for your time in evaluating this post and thank you for being such a great community.

you want cleric 2.0 and zerker 2.0 and bard 2.0 100% (2.5 is only ueful for equipped epics)

rogue epic 2.0 is worth too (tho i don't have it on my rogue as she's group 2/3)

SK, Sham, Brd, Zerk I think are must. I have the Bst, Cleric and Rogue as ones I use too.

IN general

Bard, sham, SK, zerker and cleric 2.0's always usable.
Rogue too, if in main group.
Necro 2.0 used to be a requirement and may still be

All other classes are meh afaik/imho
However, you do get 15 "free" AA's for finishing both + the extras for doing so (if the mobs give exp)
May or may not still be worth it.

I have bards x2 and zerker x6 *edit* shm x2.. those were done 12 years ago lol forgot about them. Both are must haves. I hear the cleric and rog are great, just havent done it yet.
SK.. maybe?

SK/Clr/Shm/Zerk/Bard/Rog are absolutly required/usable at 115
monk/bst/war/paly are meh at 115

Shaman for sure, it's in constant use. Can also say the the Wizard one is a waste of time, but then again you don't see too many people playing wizards much anymore.

My ranger epics are nice wall decorations since creating a pocket chanter or shaman is better for slows than those things. :)

SK epic is well worth it and can get you through a fight with a healer down. Cleric gives another group radiant cure with divine arb and should be required. Warrior is also a good defensive tool iirc.

So i went out and got the Cleric 1.0, and shifted to the Bard 1.5... which looks terribly long.

I was lucky enough to walk through Anguish the other night and get everyone in my group a "Globe of Discordant Energy" for there 2.0's

Well I managed to get the Cleric and Bard 2.0 before the patch happened. I think I will work on getting the Monk 2.0, then start the Berserker and Rogue epics.

With the changes to the Rogue epic that just happened, do you think this will make it longer and harder to get, or quicker?

What changes?

Think it would take longer for the rog epic cause now the blade side quests will have to be done, not sure how much more difficult it would be for current days but quite abit more of a PITA on TLP for current progression.

INI:
- Paladin and Rogue Epic: Reduced the respawn time for the Oracle of K'Arnon from about 7 hours to 2 hours.
- Paladin Epic: Lich of Miragul will now spawn thirty-five hours after being killed. There will now be a delay for between five and fourteen hours before it will spawn for the first time.
- Druid and Ranger Epic: Venril Sathir's remains will spawn every twenty hours instead of just over twenty-six hours. This will increase the window to access this NPC for quest hand-ins.
- Magician Epic: Undertow (and its placeholder) will spawn every six hours instead of just over seven hours.
- Monk Epic changes:
- - Increased the chance for Targin the Rock from 5 percent to 15 percent and Raster of Guk from 2 percent to 10 percent.
- - Brother Zephyr, Brother Qwinn, Ran'un, Brother Velan Torresk, and Thena Lonnes have grown in strength. They are much more dangerous. Also, persons killing these folks will be greatly disliked by monk factions.
- Rogue Epic changes:
- - Eldreth will now return after leaving for one hour rather than eight. He can no longer be killed by miscreants.
- - Founy Jesthands and Tani N'Mar will no longer have any parchment on their corpses if killed. They will, however, always have them in their pockets if someone happens to be clever enough to take them.
- - Renux Heranor will no longer carry a Jagged Diamond Dagger.
- - General V'ghera will no longer carry a Cazic Quill.
- - Karg IceBear will be a bit easier to find and will be carrying the Gigantic Zweihander more often.
- Enchanter Epic changes:
- - Vessel Drozlin and Wraith of Shissar will now respawn nine hours after being killed and from five to fourteen hours after zone or server reset.
- - Verina Tomb will now respawn thirteen hours after being killed and from five to fourteen hours after zone or server reset.
- - The One Key, Lost Scroll, and Charm and Sacrifice have had their respawn time reduced from twenty-four to five hours.
- Shadowknight epic changes:
- - Caradon will now spawn 8 hours after being killed and from five to fourteen hours after a zone or server reset.
- - Lhranc will now spawn 13 hours after being killed and from five to fifteen hours after a zone or server reset.
- - NPCs involved in the quest for Innoruuk's Curse can now see things that are invisible. They will only deal with people they like.
- Wizard Epic: Broken golem will now spawn 8 hours after being killed and from four to twelve hours after a zone or server reset.

Those.

Holy hell. That changes everything for the SK epic. Glad I got mine a few months ago.

This also makes me think that the classes that were not hit in this patch will be hit in the next one. Maybe in prep for some 3.0 stuff... we can hope, right?

that'd be cool - but unlikely

they've said before that they're more inclined to do things like the ToV earring quest line - or other evolving type gear instead of having to do 16 different quest lines and rewards

Many of the recent changes were trying to reduce the timelines. Everquest was initially designed around the idea that timesinks made for more content and thus longer retention. That's been found not to be true, and TLP are on a shortened timeframe with many of the (returning) crowd being players who go "let me do the things I missed the first go round."

If you look, there have been epic changes after nearly every TLP launch. While it doesn't apply to current content, these changes are reusable. My reading from this is probably feedback from recent servers and prep for another TLP launch at some point. Everyone knows rogue was the easiest (and fastest) epic, so this is just balancing that a bit against the others in that regard. The rest is mostly reducing time commitment.

Well there is nothing stopping them from making an epic that starts as a general weapon that's all/all and as it evolves gets split into different classes to finally end on a single class they sort of did that with the items from fight fire that started all/all and ended into hybrid groups. That way the quest is the same and all they have to do is make sperate item for each class, which shouldn't be too hard aside from the skins of the weapons

This also makes me think that the classes that were not hit in this patch will be hit in the next one. Maybe in prep for some 3.0 stuff... we can hope, right?

It took a dev to do each epic 2.0 questline. They don't have that many devs. Unlikely they will ever have that many again., but I would lean toward something like Sic quoted earlier.

So I’m about to finish my shaman 1.5/2.0 mainly so my CWTN plug-in stops calling me lazy. Will I really see a noticeable DPS boost from my group at 115?

Yes.

Seriously bard, shaman, sk, epics should really not ever not be done. There are others that are important but those 3 in particular off the charts in terms of impact.

QFE

sk/shm/bard/clr without a doubt - like actually stop whatever you're doing and go and do them and unless you're super crazy geared, zerk should 100% be done without question.

Sk Bard And Zerk all done. I wasn’t aware how impactful the Shaman epic was.

Yep shaman epic:

10: Unknown #496 (100/110/0)
11: Increase Chance to Critical Hit by 65% with All Skills
12: Increase Hitpoints v2 by 500 per tick

65% increase change to critical hit is massive or melee.

Epic - 1.5 Crafted Talisman of Fate gives "Fateseer's Boon".
3m recast, 1m duration - grants a 496 % non-cumulative increase to the damage of their critical melee attacks,
increases the chance their melee attacks will deal critical damage by 50%, and heals them for 2 health every 6 seconds for 1 min.

Epic - 2.0 Blessed Spiritstaff of the Heyokah gives "Reverence of the Heyokah".

increases the chance their melee attacks will deal critical damage by 65%, and heals them for 2 health every 6 seconds for 1 min.

Well I finished the 1.5 today. I can’t wait for the test rebuild to really try it out.

BER is absolutely critical if you have F2P toons. If you’re in F2P gear your type 5s are generally lacking, so your crit rate will go up considerably. If you’re in t3 COV, your 2.0 won’t be as effective.

I'm finishing the Zerk 2.0, hopefully next few days if my kids let me play..grr. Looks like I will get my Shaman's next, I never knew how much impact it would help, ty for discussing it.

Shaman 2.0 is done a couple days ago. I’ve been pacing the house waiting for the test rebuild to try it out.

I've been playing EQ off and on now since Luclin. I've decided to come back and one of the questions I was looking to get answered was this one. I've started a new group of sk, sham, brd and zerker x3. Out of all the group comps I had to pick the one that would benefit from all having epics. Thanks to all for the information.

just adding my 2 Redcents to the discussion. FTPer here. SK, Bard, Cleric, 3x Beserkers. All level 82 with Hero’s armor from the Jonas Dagmire hand quest. I got all 1.0s pre nerf (phew). I just completed my SK 1.5. It took me 6 days and that’s mainly because of my lack of play time. The hardest part was figuring out how to get to some of the zones. I hadn’t been to Western Wastes in at least 17 years! None of the camps were particularly long. The final paladin in WW was a green con and took a minute to go down but never really threatened to kill me. Next I’m attempting the cleric 1.5. I’ll post back when complete and let you know how it went.

all that being said, 3 questions:
1. can the epic be used as a clicky from inside a container?
2. if so, how do I add that condition to my .ini?
3. at what FTP level can I honestly consider working the 2.0?

thanks for reading!

If you can clear anguish for the globe you can do the 2.0 easily.

I guess you haven't raided? On raids, one shaman is grouped with 5 melee DPS (monk, ranger, rogue, zerker, bst) and when it's burn time, you click that epic or the melees will yell at you. That plus spire and Talisman of whatever big cat it is for 115 and they do mad DPS.

1) Yes
2) You don't need a condition to use it from inventory, the macros are smart enough to find it. Just use the name to tell the macro to use it. Example using SK: DPS18=Innoruuk's Dark Blessing|94
Cond can be whatever you want; number of mobs, health %, only when there is a certain buff on you, or simply fire when it is ready.
3) Not sure. 2.0 Epics were designed for groups and raids of lvl 70. Might be able to solo most/all things as a heroic 85.
