Hi all, I've ran into some disconnect issues on one of my machines I recently built that I can't seem to figure out.
This is a machine I run about 30 clients on. The issue only recently started happening if I'm pulling mobs. For example if I'm just chilling in my guild lobby, I can stay logged in and not see a single disco. I was armor farming in Plane of Hate and after about an hour of farming. A handful of client on that machine will dissconnect. A few minutes later (maybe 5) the rest will drop out. My other machines where I run a total of 24 more clients don't have an issue.

Here is what I have done to see if it solves the problem.
1, fresh reinstall of the OS and everything else.
2, This is on a LAN hardwired so no power settings to be throttled.
3, CPU throttling turned off
4, AV/Maleware not installed and all windows defender stuff is off including real time scans
5, Firewall turned off on all zones
6, latest version of DirectX installed
7, New graphics card and drivers are up to date
8, NIC card drivers up to date (Intel Pro 1k)

I think that is it, I may be forgetting something, if I remember, I'll update the post.

I'm using MQ2 auto-login and eq. I was using ISboxer but ran into this issue so I took it out of the equation.

Some notes on other findings. Sometime when the clients disconnect I get an MQ2 popup error and a subsequent MQ2 dmp file. I can't read it as it is all encoded (if anyone know how to read it, lmk) The file starts with "EQGraphicsDX9" then the date. I have never seen it happen live so I am not sure if the MQ2 pop error happens after the disco. I am speculating it is happening as a result of the disco. I will try to capture the error and SS for the post.

Lastly, as I did, you would think this might be an obvious network issue. It may still be related but here is what I did to troubleshoot. I set an continuous ping to google. com and never once did I receive a drop packet before, during, and after the events. Additionally in the EQ Log folder in the dbg.txt file I am seeing the following errors.

I found a post on the network on this part of the log which said this is related to a server side disconnect in that the path is on the EQ server. But my thought is why would the server disconnect just one computer and not the rest if it was honing in on my IP...

Very lastly, here is my Mq2 Plugins. Not sure if that matter but thought I would post jsut in case there may be something that stands out to someone.


One thing I haven't tried because its a pain in the ass to log every char in - is running without MQ2 though I might do that today. I might even try a smaller group then the full 30 crew and see if different result.

Oh and just a note, Running about 40-55% CPU and about 50% memory.

lol that didn't take long. After loading with MQ2Autoloing and doing the //unload. About 40-45ish min later Half the team disco'd with the below message in the dbg.txt log file...

Could I be looking at a possible graphics card incompatibility? When the UI starts to reset, if seems to hemorrhage. Not really sure what the log is saying but seems to have a lot of things dealing with the graphics card in it.

I did also just notice the machine time is off .. lol corrected that one just now.

Going to log on with 1 char now and see if same result...

ok some more testing here.

Logged in a single char and was fine for over an hour and a half.. so I decided to log in a second char and immediately the 1st char disconnected.

I'm leaning towards a graphics card issue. Maybe it can't handle to multiple instances of EQ? idk of a way to dig deeper on that with out buying a better card to test off of.

but I wanted to report back that I think I have the issue solved.

I managed to catch the error with the dbg.txt file open and was able to quickly refresh and spotted an error that read "Lost D3D Device, Waiting for reset". So I started down the path of this error. While the internet was pretty scarce on this particular issue. I was able to piece together that this might be a power issue. With Nvidia Control Panel, you can specify power performance. So I adjusted it to Max, rebooted and no help. I think rebooted again and found in the BIOS more power controls. Mine were set to optimized but there were also settings for round robin (I have dual PSU's) and Max performance. I set this one to Max and rebooted. It has been over 4 hours now and no issues. Where previously I would get the issue with in the first 30-45min.

I'm guessing that the machine was doing something with the power to make it blip which then caused the reset which then caused the disconnects. :hfive:
