ok, i have looked at the dannet plugin.
i learned alot from the videos on eqbcs.'
i dont learn things to quickly and i get confuzzeld easily.
could someone give me the pros and cons of one over the other and if eqbcs is going away eventually; since i dont see it being added to the launcher on the next page?

for now mq next is not the main mq that redguides have, so the page on redguides launcher is lacking the ability to have the extra things like the mq2 legacy page has, but eventually that will change, and it should get updated so that mq next has the same abilities in the launcher, so eqbcs is not going away.

the key dfifference is that dannet does not require external software to work, but works without having a central server, which means once the plugin is loaded on a client its on the system and works.

secondly dannet has some features that are good for scripts and macros to use to query data from clients and seet up data observers, many macros and scripts are already using those features, which greatly benefits the user.

for these macros and script to use dannet, does not mean you cant use eqbcs to control your toons, you can easily have both systems loaded np.

I used eqbc forever and never had an issue with it or had any reason to try anything else. After getting requests for DanNet support in a few macros and doing a little research on DanNet, Ready to use out of the box with next, I decided to give it a try. Now its all I care to use. For the end user, they work pretty much the same. Ease of use and setup, I prefer Dannet.

I do wish DanNet could parse //cmd, just for those of us who have brain problems and can't stop typing that double slash.

But otherwise I am very happy to have made the switch.

Yah, that was the one thing it took getting use too. I still do it, but very rarely.

I'm newer here so I can't say I've been using eqbc for any great length of time, but experience is nearly identical. eqbc works fine and I had zero issues with it but dannet seems easier. Turn it on and forget it. Other than converting all your hotkeys. At nearly the same time I made the jump to mq2boxr and that made the change even easier.

There is a script on the forum somewhere that converts all of your eqbc hotkeys to dannet in one click. :)

i use both simply so the come to me, follow me and mimic me buttons work as they require EQBC, otherwise i use dannet for everything, from a command standpoint they are essentially the same i believe its the back end stuff that dannet can do that is better/improved/different I believe

IIRC, you can use dannet for those. I think it's a config option or something.

haha you are right, reading the plugin usually helps!

GroupWindow Button locations are configurable in mq2targetinfo.ini (/groupinfo reload to apply)
ComeToMeText=Come To Me
ComeToMeCommand=/bcg //nav id ${Me.ID}
ComeToMeToolTip=/bcg //nav id ${Me.ID}
FollowMeText=Follow Me
FollowMeCommand=/bcg //afollow spawn ${Me.ID}
FollowMeeToolTip=/bcg //afollow spawn ${Me.ID}

So started to convert from eqbcs to dannet but ran into an issue...

Is there a command in dannet to not allow control ? I want to have a toon connected so they can issue commands and see the information coming into mq window but I do not want any of the group commands to be able to control that toon.
In eqbcs there is a "control - Allow remote control" command that can be set so that none of the group commands effect that toon.

Have you read the Dannet thread and the different communication channels you can use, specifically the ones that say everyone but self?

Yes , the issue is this. I play with 4 toons, My wife and a friend. The wife does not want anyone to control her toon , but she wants to issue commands to invis, buff...etc...
So for my toon, I can use the everyone but me commands... or everyone including me ... I don't want to use groups just to keep one toon separate.

Thank you for the input.. maybe I can somehow isolate her.... without making it complicated

Why not use groups? Make one group. NotTheWife. Join the other toons to that group. Then use /dge NotTheWife /do this or that
