Question - Confused on MA and how to set it

I'm trying to setup a group with a bunch of low levels and a healer at 85 outside of the group for healing.

My brother and I play, I box 3 characters, and he runs his 1 character.

The 2 low levels are a WAR and a BER, and then I have my CLR following the party and healing.

The question I have, is how to setup MA and get it so the plugins will actually start auto attacking and doing their rotation when I attack something with my BER (only one I don't have the Chat plugin for right now, so I drive it).

If I have afollow on the other 2 characters, and have the WAR set to Sic Tank, what happens is the game will spaz out sometimes where the WAR will just spin in circles. Sometimes it won't even attack or do anything at all, etc. I feel like this is because MQ2 has all of my accounts listed as Main under Profiles. What should I be setting the accounts as in MQ2 if they aren't the main? Or does that even matter? On the topic of afollow, is it good to even use it with the Chat plugins? Or should I just do Chase once I get the MA stuff squared away? Afollow seems to try and fight over what the plugin wants the characters to do sometimes. In addition, using afollow I frequently get some characters that fall off bridges in dungeons, get stuck in walls and won't navigate around them, etc, leading to wipes.

Generally, I don't "camp" much because I'm out running around killing stuff with my brother, so a lot of the sit around and camp functions don't really help me much. I want it to be setup to where if I'm running around and tag something with my BER, then my WAR will automatically jump in and grab aggro and take it away.

Thanks so much for all the help, I hope I described everything correctly. I apologize if not, I'm new to EQ and boxing in games period. Lol.

is this a cwtn plugins question?

to assign someone MA you right click on your group window, with your group leader, and click the Roles -> Group Main Assist

if you have toons following your berzerker you should just have your cleric in chase mode (mode 2), and your warrior assisgned as group main tank in the window, but in chase mode (mode 2), and your berzerker that you're "driving" with as group main assist in the group window. the cleric and war will now follow your berzerker and assist it when it attacks something, since your warrior is assigned as group main tank, it will still do tank stuff even tho it is in a chase mode - it isn't going to choose the mobs, since it is in an assist, but it will assist the zerk.

Sic, thank you so much.

I just watched your WAR video trying to find this information. Lol. Great video by the way.

So you DO have to setup the roles in the Group Window. Awesome. That's all I needed to know. And if I don't do that then the tank doesn't know it's the tank and won't function correctly I assume.

Again, thanks so much for your reply sir, and keep up the awesome work. (I'm an idiot and thought MA meant "Main Account", not "Main Assist", so much more makes sense now)

So should I just use Chase and say screw afollow? Since it seems to fight over who's in charge with the plugin?

well if the tank is not assigned as group main tank in the group window, it will go strickly off of what mode it is in. so if it is an assist mode - assist, chase, vorpal - it still isn't going to pick its own targets like it would in tank mode, puller tank, hunter tank, or sictank (sic tank would require a reset camp if you're moving around), but it would still do taunting and other "thank" stuff

I abbbbbsolutely would not use afollow on toons that are actively automating things - if you have PL toons just following and not actively automating, i would have them afollow on the healer or something, but definitely don't want to use afollow on toons that are trying to fight - this is why you end up with a toon doing circles.

Is there an afollow command I can give the healer (who sits outside of the group) without giving it to every single account being used? (Dumb question I'm sure, my afollow macro I got from a dude on Youtube so I'm not as familiar with all of the commands, and Googling anything for EQ is a bit like a shot in the dark sometimes. Lol.) My afollow macro makes every single account being used follow whoever issued the macro.

Like a /afollow (insert character name) or something? Or is it only a blanket command?

Because the healer being outside of the group means that putting it in Chase doesn't really do anything. And I can't have it in the group because of obvious level discrepancy reasons.

for your in-group cleric - you are using mq2cleric on your cleric - so just put your cleric in chasemode /clr mode 2 and it will chase your MA - obviously this won't work for out of group like you mentioned so

for out of group, your best bet would be afollow - just have your cleric target the person you want it to follow and /afollow and you would /afollow off when you are done.. you can get fancier with that, but there's no real need to since you just want to keep it simple. - I would not try and have the out of group cleric ry and melee - afollow being continually on and trying to automate movement/melee by other means gets messy

Does this mean I should be deprecating /stick in my head?
well stick if you want to stick - but stick is generally for handing something you're fighting, afollow is a kind of "advanced auto follow" to follow others

That makes sense. I learned the few commands I know years ago before I found these boards so trying to learn the best practices. Thanks!
