Question - Combat buffing

There are a lot of situations where I would want to cast a short duration buff in combat (Shaman group champion, beastlord Ferocity, and shaman Maw of the Panther come to mind), since in raids (and when chain pulling in groups) I am not often out of combat for very long, and many raid bosses last longer than the duration of the buffs. Right now, I have these buffs in the buff section of my KISS ini, but they rarely cast.

Is there any way to accomplish something like this using KISS?

That would cover some scenarios (a single target buff that only the MA needs, or a group buff which only needs to land on the MA's group), but in the case of both Champion, I need to cast it on multiple groups of my toons (all of which are on the same PC and thus have access to the KISS buffs INI file), and with Ferocity, which I need to cast single target on all melee.

Any way to achieve that with the DPS section?

You can do buffs for just melee or casters. And latest version will let you specify classes for buffs.

Rich (BB code):
Buffs18=Mana Repetition|Caster

Rich (BB code):
Buffs1=Buff to cast|class|war,ber,pal

Hmm KA doesn't buff other groups by default. But the latest KA 10.2.6 does let you buff or heal by class type. And it lets you heal via XTarget.

If you get creative, you could maybe work out a "heal" that casts the groupbuff on your other groups by XTargeting members and having conditions that see if the buff is already on them.

I know you can buff by individual classes, which I do now (super useful functionality), and KA does allow you to buff other groups (other groups of your own characters on the same computer in the same KA buff file), but what I'm not sure about is whether you can use tags like |class|war,ber,pal in the DPS section or whether that is limited to the Buff section.

I don't like class tags. Kiss is not built raids. If it works in them great but it group centric.

IMO class tags are fantastic even in group settings, especially in the case of extremely expensive, short duration buffs like Ferocity which one can't really afford to waste on "useless" melee dps classes like bards or paladins, or spells which are relevant only to tanks (like AC buffs). Personally, I was thrilled at the addition of it.

On a side note, KISS may not be designed for raids, but by coincidence it works quite well for it. Our guild has cleared all PoP/GoD/Omens content using it, and generally speaking it works quite well. Granted, the content isn't all that hard, but KISS does fine in the context of a raid.

class tag only works in buffs and heals.

Do the |melee, |caster, and |me tags work in the DPS section? Or are those also restricted to buffs and heals?

|melee and |Caster are buffs specific. |Me and |MA can be used in DPS.

Ok, it sounds like some of the specific things I'm trying to do aren't fully possible at this time, but I can do some of what I need by just casting adding the group buffs to the DPS section (which will at least make them cast on some of my guys). Out of curiosity will the [Buff] section functionality ever run in combat? Or is it sufficiently invasive/complex that it can only work outside combat?

only mana/endurance regen abilities work from buffs in combat
