Anyone getting anything on Black Friday?
I'm eyeing a plugin for my DAW it's on sale for $19. It's used in Hip Hop production mainly. It's a regular $199.

Anything. You guys are eyeing?

Sadly, nothing. Being a responsible adult this year and putting all the fun money towards paying off more of the car. Had been eyeing a new gaming computer from Pop!OS, but between the wonderful folks here telling about the frame limiting tweak to prolong the life of my current computer, and the fact that Pop!OS only sale right now is $50 off, I'll wait another year to upgrade my pc.

Not much. I was hoping for a big sale on Audio books but theres no sign of a sale on the front page yet.

For others Ive already picked up Christmas gifts throughout the year so Im all set.

Working on music keeps my mind busy, and that helps keep the Alzheimer's at bay. And $19 is about all I can afford anyway so it kinda worked out perfect.

34" monitor for my kid. Good damn gotta try some Everquest on it.
@Robban that’s a lot of screen for naked wood elves, dark elves, and high elves to fill…

I picked up a laptop with a 5080 and 64 GB of ram. Just watching the news relating to Hard Drives, RAM, and AI demands was enough to make me pull the trigger, if nothing else, to have a capable backup if anything goes wrong. I fear we're about to enter the Dark Age of Technology if AI demands take precedent over those of actual humans.

Aside from that, I've been eyeing the Ninja Always Sharp knives, but ended up just grabbing a cheap set from the local store, as they started their sales a bit early.

Bee Hive Equipment
Save the bees!

This reminded me that yesterday when we saw the neighborhood murder of crows, I shared with my wife my eventual plans/hopes to befriend them. She looked at me dumbfounded and asked why and I honestly was confused that I had to explain “cause it’d be cool.”

Good to see others into beekeeping. Been tempted to get back into it. Was a small family owned beekeeping business owner in the 90's but got out of it to make more money elsewhere. Keep reading news, these days, about bee populations in the US declining. As I get older, I also keep thinking it might be a fun part time hobby to have a hive or two again. Just enough for family and friends, and odd gifts. Nothing major.

fuck yes! we were hoping to start bees this year, but everything is so expensive, really hard to catch up with our goals atm

shortwife's aunt and uncle are part of the bee keepers inspection something-or-other, and they travel worldwide for bee seminars and whatnot so we'll have some good "hey we need some advice" contacts.

When we got this place, us 3 got matching bee tattoos because we all want bees - there's some really cool folksy traditions with keeping bees - like "telling the bees" and stuff that really speaks to our "barefeet in the dirt" kinda hearts

My daughter, in the past year, has been given a couple of small vinyl record collections from her Grandmother and Aunt. She was given a record player. And the past year, she has been listening to them, all the time. So, I was waiting to see if the set of Edifier (powered) speakers and the Audio Technica record player (both considered entry level) were gonna come down in price. I saved $50 on the speakers and $20 on the record player. Now we'll have to see what she thinks of of it. I was gonna add a CD player, because she likes to listen to CDs in her truck, but I couldnt find one I liked and I don't currently want to spend the $200-300 for one. So we (missus and I) decided we'd start with the speakers and record player, and if she has an interest in the CD's, then we'll get her one for her birthday or next Christmas. So excited.

Bee Keeping for me is strictly a hobby that pays for itself. Been doing it for 16 years. Past year harvested 35 gallons, biggest year was 80 gallons I aim to sell the majority but retaining enough for me to have daily. The hobby Brings out the hippy in myself, just lacking the hair portion now. Big plus Hippy chicks dig Beekeepers.
Only bit of wisdom to pass along to new beekeepers- treat the bees as livestock and you will be successful.
