Tip - Best Type 18/19 combos for group SK? (1 Viewer)

So given the augs are restricted by Lore groups, what are people going for in terms of the augs on their tanks? Specifically I have a group geared SK that is always my MT. Make the assumption here that the TOV earring is complete on that toon.

I also really like the Devotee's Attacker for the % increase to accuracy (ive never actually sat and parsed it out, but i try and keep the accuracy 18/19 on all my melee dudes

generally, with 15 slots to fill on all 5 chase item, it'd look something like this.

4 enhancement
4 attackers
2 fortification (if hDex build)
2 dire
1 soothing
1 ventral defense
1 random - warding/dorsal/assaulting

defense and soothing don't stack (they are equippable but only highest mod takes effect)

I have the same ear only dilemma on 4 of my toons, and chose:
- For pure melee, I went 2 attackers + 1 fortification, but could be convinced to do 2 enhancement + 1 attacker.
- For healer, 1 soothing and 2 enhancement

For SK tank, hmm difficult (not a strong view either way) - 1 soothing, 1 fortification, and 1 ventral maybe.

Decision might be swayed by proximity to heroic step points (eg 2000 hSTA), and to Sic's point above Accuracy is a really hard stat to improve so any uplift is valuable, coz AC and HME can be acquired elsewhere.

Are you doing ToV raid trash to loot the ores to make ToV type 19s? If so, that makes a huge difference (and something you DEFINITELY should be doing, if you can handle the mobs).

I recommend looking on Magelo and seeing what the top 10-15 SKs are using. Assume they're min/maxing tanking abilities (because they are). If you still aren't sure what to prioritize after that, let me know. I can tell you what I have on my raiding toon (I'm at work right now and don't have access to my stuff).

I'm working on earring , not complete yet but will aim to farm raid trash for that purpose. That's the only slot I have atm, I never evolved the other pieces. I'm going to wait until next xpac to see how good they are vs the T3 tradeskill items before I bother trying to evolve them.

I believe the defense series actually stack (X% supposed not to stack but somehow in this case, they do), and that is SOFTAC CAP, so the benefits is huge. I use all 4 on my tanks.

Interesting choices, thanks for sharing (and in such a delightfully organized manner). I mostly agree, but I would recommend not overlooking the fact that 20 or 30 AC on a toon that's probably way over the soft cap right now anyway isn't going to give you the same return as 20 to all heroics might or the unique type 18/19 mods might. Like someone else mentioned, the Defense series stack, which is huge for tanking. Also it's worth considering throwing the highest mod Soothing aug and the highest mod ventral defense aug in, as those mods don't appear anywhere else in the game.

Not knowing what class toon this is for, I would probably replace all the Strategy augs and Secret Dawn Hikma with other stuff (devotee's enhancement, another defense aug, etc.). Obviously, if you're a wis/int caster, then I'll go f myself, but then I'd expect to see different mod choices.

The best part about the type 18/19 discussion is there are so many possible combinations. It really makes the gear fun to customize.

No doubt its the highest AC setup, but I've found that AC comes pretty easily and, above a certain point, definitely has diminishing returns. Because of that, I've personally prioritized some of the unique effects you can get from the type 18/19s. My opinion is a player is hugely missing out if they ignore stuff like frontal damage mitigation. I'd also argue that if AC is your goal, then you really should have all four (or as many as you can reasonably get) of the Defense augs, since the AC softcap boost stacks. You get a lot more out of a higher softcap than throwing more AC on a capped out toon.

My SK has all 5 chase maxed and group/self buffed with stat food, I sit over 9k AC without tributes on and no bard. HP is around 435k ish. all group /chase gear.

With that said, AC hasn't been noticeable since I hit 8k. What has been noticeable is Spell / Heal damage improvements. Lifetaps use both damage and heal amount and can crit both sides to heal you 4x ....think about it

Getting straight boosts with Defense, accuracy, healing, etc > then AC augs IMO when you get to this level.

I also am an H-Dex primary build with that 9kAC stat.... . again because the AC soft cap against knights blows.

Everyone plays a little different.. but I love my SK's build.. its damn near impossible to kill him in group content ( SK, CL, BL, Zerk, Zerk, Chanter/bard )

IE My group was killing all named in KD 2nd week of xpac.. at level 111 sitting in TBL/ GMM gear.

I do run my SK 100% though with no macs, so this might have an impact if you don't.

The defense and defender augs stack. The ventral and dorsal defense do not.

@Hylander I meant the adding AC Softcap series (with the word Defense in their name).

All 4 defense augs will give 30% ac softcap boost （6%+7%+8%+9%).

Since the AC Softcap is a very low number, so you won't see big numbers boost. However on the Dzarn's post about the AC calculate iirc, those AC under softac cap is a huge fact on mitigate melee dmg (i.e., shield AC is all softac, so you will put the ldon 35ac on shield instead those type5 heroic aug).

With all that being said, I can't find the parse about exact mitigation link to softac, but I lean to 30% softac cap raise to reduce at least 3%-5% melee dmg, and that works on all scenarios, raid and group. So on tanks I'm definitely go with all those 4.

Buuut, I've read your quote before in EQ forums too, and I do agree the core part of it actually. The accuracy augs stacks too hence for melee dps, it's a must. But for tanks, especially for raid tanks, I think SOFTAC is always first priority. Just my 2 cents.

It did not change my 231/300 Accuracy Rating at all on my stats page. I'm sitting at 4015 total Dex - +2480 h-Dex so I am just wandering if that 6% also has a cap or where can I see it change anything?

The change is in the second attack number in your main inventory window, not the heroic figure

I have tried to no avail for updated information regarding the actual Stat boost, any caps (Other then 150 on old posts)
What is considered a good, great, and elite total number?

Any links would be appreciated.

on a side note : I could only find the Defense/Defender AC soft cap augs to be 5%. 6%, 7% ,8% for a total of 26% soft cap AC boosts as Devotee is 8% ac soft cap, not totaling 30% as posted above, which may or may not help to compare against going with Attack augs, but thought I would mention it.

I have 12 toons now that have all 5 evolving items maxed. (That was a lot of work). Does anyone want to recommend what types of 18/19s to use on my melee type classes. Focusing on dps and Hdex primarily. All toons are group geared as I don't like raiding.
