anyone able to help me and my brother seperate house holds get out pcs to connect together? keeps say can not connect but both of us have our firewalls off....

/bccmd connect Ipaddress

Well are you behind a router? And if so what brand/number? I can try to work you through setting up to be accessible.

You'll need to open the correct port for the EQBC and attach it to your public IP address, this can open you up to some vulnerabilities. I believe you will need to forward that IP/Port to your local machines IP address. So you will have setup a static IP for your desktop. You can also use something like dynamic DNS so when your IP changes from your IP you dont have to reset it up a quick google search on Dynamic DNS can will get you some free places to sign up for it.

Here is a guide with some of the steps in it.

What you want to do is turn on port forwarding, enter the IP of your current computer, whatever 192.168.1.xxxx is and set up the ports to forward (2112 I think it is for bccmd?) Anyway do that and then give your router IP address to your brother.

*note: Your router IP address that your brother needs is not the 192.168.1.1, you'll have to find the one assigned by your ISP inside the router settings.

do i need to restart my router??? also do we all have to be in same household ??? for eqbcc to work ? because we are not if that is the case

Now you don't have to be in the same household, and your router should update the changes as soon as you click 'apply'. It will also let you know if it needs to restart. You can literally run it anywhere in the world. The problem is right now your computer is on a private network, and until the router makes the port for BCCMD public, no one else can see it. Once they do anyone can see it, and your brother can/should be able to connect immediately.

No you don't. Basically what everyone is saying that you need to allow the routers to communicate with each other. I myself have not setup this myself across two or more systems. If you go to this link you might get more answer in regards to what you need to do.

Bottom line up front:
If router one has a "visable" ip of 208.16.8.24
And the other router can connect to that ip then you can get eqbc to work across two different networks. This will take some time and folks have provided some good links to get you started. My networking days went out the window when Microsoft went to Windows 98 and I didn't system admin Windows NT Server or Novell network anymore. Been close to 15 plus years since I have worked TCP/IP stuff. Now I just go for the easy self configuring stuff and tweak securities when I need to.

hrmm i did what they said and it still didnt work didnt say to turn off router

Well that depends on the router as well. Some routers probably are "smart" enough that once you make changes to the firmware they reboot on their own. Doing a manual reset might work as well.
