Question - auto loot an item you've never seen drop?

Is there anyway to set this up? I've tried editing the LF_AN_charname.ini file in userdata inside EQ folder to add the item to advloot. However, even tho it saves inside the file it doesnt actually work inside the game (the item never gets added to the always need list)

But yes it is possible, I do it all the time.

Create a new LF_AN_Differentname.ini file and add what you want to adjust into the file. In game, /advloot > Edit Filters > Merge/Replace Filters > Select New File > Merge > Yes.

It's just a few clicks. If you edit the files directly, EQ gets stupid and reverts the changes sometimes the next time your files get updated from in game. If you merge in-game from a dummy file, the changes are permanent. Can use the list I posted in the other thread to add all the cotf/tds rares to advloot in one fell swoop.

ok, so i did this. and when i go to 'edit filters' and i search for the item that i just added via merging dummy file, it shows up wiht the correct box highlighted. However, when the item actually drops, there is nothing check marked in the advloot window

You have "Apply Filters" checked in advloot window and are marked as Master Looter?

You probably have the wrong itemID in the file if you grabbed it from Allakahzam, try Lucy instead.

yes, and no hihi. My MA is always masterlooter. The items in question are nodrop and I want going to the correct class (which isnt the war)

and I have the itemID from lucy. Like i said, when i click edit filters and search for the item it shows up and it shows that I will 'always need' it.

Like I said, you did something wrong. Either the iconID, itemNumber or the way you formatted the name is wrong. That filter does nothing but read from the ini so you can put 666^666^FuckingFuckMcFucks and it'll tell you that you'll always need that item even though that item matches nothing that will actually drop.

nothing in particular yet, i was just testing with some trash drops to make sure i got it right. It's a good thing to, lol. Riot was correct, I was putting in the info wrong. Transposed 2 numbers. Didnt think that was the problem since it appeared when i searched for it. Thanks again for the help!
