HUGE THANKS TO CTWN, KNIGHTLY, JB321, and all people on the forums asking and answering questions, you made my first horrible macro possible!
100 coins an hour just doing sailor twifts quest
First off, I’d like to say, I do not feel this is an exploit, a bug, or bad honestly. I think if lots of people do it (which actually isn’t possible), the devs might lower the reward amount from 10 to 1, or put a lockout timer on the quest to nerf it, but again, I seriously don’t feel this is wrong, I’m just unique in my eq setup I think.
Ok, so I can get up to 100 coins an hour (insanely fast I think). You probably can’t do this, but I’m going to share my methodology. You can adapt my methodology. The real limit is having a bunch of wizs and druids (4 to 5 wizs/druids is needed for 1 fast cycle of quest)
Methodology, Teleport Bind AA. (wizs / druids)
I use 9 wizs with teleport bind aa (I could have used 12 and shaved 20 seconds off each run, but I would have had to rewrite 3 macros and write another 4 macros, I suck at this right now).
So, 9 wizs, and the 1 person doing the quest.
3 sets of 3 wizs.
Set 1, primary bind is in pok library, right at the quest update spot for the 2 pok portions. Secondary / tertiary bind spots in butcherblock by the quest giver.
Set 2, primary bind is in city of bronze, in a braxi heavy area of zone. Secondary / tertiary bind spots in oot, right by the quest mob.
Set 3, primary bind is in ocean of tears right by the quest mob, secondary / tertiary bind spots in city of bronze. (Set 2 and 3 are all bound so they fall on top of each other when zoning).
Set 4 (I did not make this set, but it would shave 20 seconds off each run) primary bind in ocean of tears by the quest mob. Secondary / tertiary bind spots in butcherblock by the quest giver.
Run thru.
(Quester is the person earning the coins, the word port means teleport bind, gate is gate / secondary recall / tertiary recall)
-quester binds by sailor twift and the wizs of set 1
-get quest
-group with a wiz from set 1
-set 1 wiz ports to pok
-quest update is automatic if you’re bound in right spot, no movement, just done when you zone in
-wiz disbands from group
-quester / wiz gate
-quester gives book to sailor twift / runs to oot (wiz set 4 here would shave 20 seconds off the run to translocator)
-quester runs to quest mob, says sailor twift sent me
-quester groups with wiz from set 2
-wiz ports to city of bronze
-quester kills a braxi loots the compass
-wiz from set 2 gates, wiz disbands from group
-quester groups with wiz from set 3
-wiz ports to oot
-wiz from set 3 gates, wiz disbands from group
-quester turns item into quest mob
-quester gates
-quester gives item to sailor twift
-quester combines the key into the book
-quester groups with wiz from set 1
-wiz ports to pok
-quest update is automatic if you’re bound in right spot, no movement, just done when you zone in
-wiz disbands from group
-quester / wiz gate
-quester hails sailor twift
DONE, 10 coins. Elapsed time (depending on braxi's or a bit of lag) 6 to 8 minutes.
Note, teleport bind has a 5 minute recast, I didn’t start with sets of 3, I started with sets of 2, but the wizs going to pok wouldn’t be able to teleport bind the second part of the quest for another 45 seconds or so, so I moved to 3 sets of wizs. Teleport bind is truly the limiting factor of this… That and sitting in front of your computer for 17.5+ hours doing this dumb thing.
I’m new to MQ, and I’ve just written my first horrible sets of macros to make this happen for a friend of mine (who also uses MQ, and is responsible for my return to eq, and mq). I really don’t want to share them because they are insanely poorly written. I haven’t done much coding in 20 years outside of a little database stuff. But I knocked thru 20 dumb macros (yes 20) and use mq2events, mq2nav, eqbcs, and mq2autoaccept to make this work.
As I mentioned, my 20 macros are rather horribly written, but I wrote it all in a hurry to make sure my friend was able to get the reward, and learned everything along the way.
I’ve been looking for a project to get started on (and was actually thinking of making a 100% fresh new tutorial macro step by step), and friend and me discussed doing this, so I ran hard and fast to figure it out. The methodology I used though, is fine. It did work. And there were delays in actions and nothing was done faster than I could do it without a macro running it.
I will say, it was horrible sitting in front of my computer for that many hours while I and my friend were doing this dumb farm.
HUGE thanks to CTWN, the lines I pulled and modified from your tutorial macro are probably the best in my 20 macros, and your posts all over the forums were often the answer I was looking for!
HUGE thanks also to jb321 and Knightly, you guys have posted tons of great answers here.
Outside of that, I got lots of better ideas on the forums reading thru trying to figure out how I was going to make these dumb things work.
Small question, I have found tutorials from CTWN, answers to some questions on the forums here, the aborted mq2 wiki on this forum, I have ripped apart many macros to find snippets of how to, I have found lots of data on macroquest2 and sourceforge. I’m sure from there I can get everything I need going, but is there any BIG everything here tutorial on MQ2 macros?
And I have to admit, im excited for MQNext (great name!) and the Lua system!
Anyway if you have questions, I can answer them, feel kinda bad not sharing the macros, but I mean honestly, its 20 macros running across 10 toons to make this all work, its pretty horribly written! Also has 1 toon running mq2event triggers!
--quick edit right after i posted, missed 1 step in the steps that i didn't catch on read thru, hopefully I caught it before you!
