ok thank you if anyone has a mac for lvl 50 or above i would like too see it thank you for your time all

I don't know if this has anything to do with Taskmaster or not, but I got a yellow text, much like the yellow text in nek forest today in the dreadlands. It said something to the effect of, "someone is doing something strange, is nobody going to do anything about it?" Has anyone seen this, or know what this means?

nope, not seen that at all and was there for awhile today. I may have just not seen it though. I tend to have alot of chat going on in all my windows

Is it possible that a GM would write that if they were on to ya, or is that not the way they usually operate? It wasn't just me that got the text though. Another in the zone doing taskmaster got it to.

was that person doing the macro?
And no, I have never personally heard of a GM reacting that way.
Question though, was it a system wide message? was it a private tell?
Usually from what I have read (since it has never happened to me) is the GM will send you a tell to talk to you and see if you respond.

Sounds like something related to a GM event of some kind. Wasnt last night the last night for the Halloween stuff?

Whenever i have seen yellow text it was a system wide message and usually related to a GM event or server updates. I wouldn't worry about it. I would however, worry about using this public macro to xp even remotly afk, and defenitly not use it via warp.... just my 2cp.

there is absolutely no way they have /warp detection from what I see on a daily basis. I do agree with you though Dark. I have used both caster and runner macs and both work nicely except for a few minor pathing glitches, but I do not /warp and will never do so again prolly. I do not run these afk though. I only run one while I am sitting here and just watch it run while I watch TV or do all my paperwork.

It wasn't a tell, and the other guy I msged was also running the mac. I could have been a serverwide msg. I have used the warp macro a little too much, and this kind of opened my eyes, even though, like you guys, I think it was nothing. Needless to say, I gated back to pok, and got in a group:) The mac has been good for me though, 8 levels and about 200 AAs, I think that is probably enough milking of a great thing:)

They can detect warp now, they're just not choosing to do anything about it unless a player reports you or they actually catch you in the act.

Hehe.....65-68 and over 550 AA's here from this. A great thing indeed.

Then what is the point to even having any detection?
Not saying that they don't actually have it, but I find it very difficult to believe Sony being the asshats they are, would spend the time and money to develop a detection system then not use it.

Double-Edged sword. They cut their own legs off if they banned anyone who warps in EQ. Think about it. They banned for one offset alone and lost over 1000 accounts. Back in the day that was nothing, now it makes a dent.

Not to say that a Corp. like Sony couldn't afford to lose EQ all together, but a lot of peoples' jobs rely on it , and they want to make money as long as possible.

I think that if you're reported for using warp (especially blatantly) then they need to be 'seen to respond'. Otherwise, it's not in their interest to put the man hours in to detect it. Thing with shared bank, with lvl 40 toons wearing anguish gear etc, this would piss a LOT of people off, lead to reports and so on. THIS they would want to nip in the bud much more than someone covertly warping about somewhere unseen.

Question, if you have a druid, you can cast the single port spell for the zone you are already in and it warps you there, it doesnt zone... acts just like warp... how can they tell the difference? Also, i have a friend who was CoH'n with his mag some toons to the top of RSS and was reported for warping... Seems like it would be really hard to catch warp since other normal actions in game act the same way.. or am i missing something?

Thats why a GM watches first. Mage CoH gives you "You have been summoned.." bit etc. Druid spells would be seen being casted. A GM can spectate you in third person etc without you knowing.

Half the time people get caught even some of the instance zone users, probably due to other players reports. If a player says hacking, and reports it...Even if you weren't hacking at the time, you might get caught later by a GM looking into the petition etc.

No one has yet to be banned from any secret "warp logs" they have though. All of it must be confirmed by a GM, who is usually tipped off by a player.....Or the GM gets bored and actually looks for hackers.

Care to expound on this ?

How do they differentiate warping from being summoned from succoring from lagwarp or any other 'normal' in-zone player movement?

I have used warp twice in my EQ life. Both times I was stuck in terrain, and /rewind didnt work, so I warped a very short distance to free myself. Does this detection you speak of detect this type of usage?

the difference between /warp and using in-zone ports like I do by casting ring of the combines from the taskmaster, is with warp there is no casting involved. You can be seen casting a spell. Also, in your chat box you can see the command that you begin casting.....blah blah. That is how they can tell the difference. Sony can and will read your chat windows if they decide to. Also, it would be pretty hard to argue your way out of being caught be a GM telling him that you cast a spell when you are a non caster.

/e begins to cast a spell.
/delay 3s
/warp wp RING

That'll show up as a cast, just peeps won't see the animation of you casting.

Warp is detected by rapid changes in your delta's....Changes in your x/y coordinates. It used to be possible to lag warp and such they fixed that...they even modified fear and charm now on PC's..

Don't try to argue that they can't detect warp, you're wrong. They can

mine will work as far as other people are concerned, don't expect it to fool a gm or someone could happen to notice that you aren't doing a casting animation...

Bror you shouldn't be warping in front of anyone.....I can understand *maybe* and when I say maybe I mean *barely fucking at all* using your emote lines etc in an afk macro of sorts to throw off some people. But again, you shouldn't be afk macro'ing near people

I don't leave the TaskMaster macro AFK anymore...I will look in the zone every now and then and stop if anyone is present...been running this about 2-3 hours a day....no GM issues yet.

My question is....

The AutoTask.mac (downloaded the one raistlin8989 modified and posted) After finishing a task (sometimes) will hail the NPC taskmaster...not get a task, and automatically start the last task it did..(thus not getting any out of it, because no task was accepted).

I have seen others mention this problem,..or at least something close to it, just wondering if someone could post the syntax for the fix for us non-programmers?

**just wanted to add this...I think there is a link between the above happening...and the strength of your computer...restarted my computer...and its running perfect..for about 10 missions so far..it would never of done that before...guess I might have to shop for some RAM if there is not something in the .Mac itself that can be used to help this problem**

Thanks

Has to be something with your computer. 8 Levels and 500 AA's and never once had that problem...Possibly lag and rapid succession of tasks is causing it....I know one major effect of the rapid zoning is a split image of your character...and showing up on the /who list twice

you need to add an additional "/say tasks" with a "/delay 2s" between this one and the last in your mac file. The problem you are having is that sometimes the npc doesn't open the task ui on the first time you say tasks and doing this will have your toon say tasks twice sorta like a failsafe. There's other ways to do it also, but this is by far the "easiest" fix in your situation.

Agree with Kraze, that does seem to work. I had an unusual issue today though. Must have gotten killed somehow, and ended up in POK, warped outside zoneborder asking for tasks! Urg. I thought the macro was supposed to end when you died?

Kraze did hit the nail on the head....its running great....getting a ton more axp. Very easy fix (which is the only kind I think I can do, lol).

Thanks a ton Kraze.

Good info gardenia. I have never died using any of the task macros. I never really thought about adding that into it. And the WARP version doesn't hav an event for death.

I will get right on this one along with some additional checks to maek this macro more secure.

AdvTaskWarp ReVisited and additional updates.

For those that have the guts to even run it these days, I put the Warp version back into my update list, with some new clicks and whistles.

AdvTaskWarp
Rich (BB code):
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Mod Notes [11/28/2005]: Alatyami
* Added custom start location.
* Added a Zone check before requesting a new task.
* Added Variables for TaskZone and the TaskGiver
* Added Custom TaskRequest saying.
* Added Death handling.
* Added AdvTaskWarp to the AdvTask series.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

AdvTaskCaster/Runner
Rich (BB code):
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Mod Notes [11/28/2005]: Alatyami
* Added a Zone check before requesting a new task.
* Added Variables for TaskZone
* Added Death handling.
Nope, but I just noticed that i had the wrong INI listed in the AdvTaskWarp version. It's fixed now.
idk what I'm doing wrong with your new advtaskwarp.mac alatyami, but when I get to DL and start macro, I get the hails and everything, but I dont ever get any tasks given to me, on MQ, all it says is ini=0 for everything, doesnt list a task or anything. Im way away from Marana, which is the way I think you set this up, but it's almost like Im getting now communication with her. Does that make any sense?
Unless Alatyami implemented the "task from anywhere in zone" plugin, you can not be far away from the taskmaster. You have to be within normal /hail or /say range to get her to respond to you.
This actually does make sense. Like Shadow man said you have to be within /hail range of your taskmaster, also make sure that you have the AdvTask.ini and not the older AutoTask.ini. AutoTask was the original INI name before I dropped the original Warp version.
Implementation of MQ2task is the next update, it still has bugs.
Could someone please help me set this up for a Monk to get solo xp? What exactly do i need to download
I am also a noob to redguides....only been around a month or so, so I'll share something I've learned =).....
There are some very helpful people in these forums, but they are usually most interested in helping those who wanna help themselves. In a very specific forum about a certain macro, when you ask " What exactly do i need to download" it shows that you have done no reading around these forums. Anyways, more to the point...take the time to read and learn. I've found that it not only helps you as you'll be better informed, but you'll also understand what others are talking about when they try to help you and wont feel so left out of the loop.
PS: Welcome to the forums!!! =)
This line in the macro points to whatever 'ini' is required:
/ini "AutoTask.ini" "${Zone}" "${MyTasks}"
So, you can call it what you like. The actual 'ini' file should look something like this:
Rich (BB code):
[The Dreadlands]
Giant Expedition=1
Scary Caves=1
Poor Tree=1
Lookout Below=1
Mystic Ring=1
One Dead Tree=0
Ruins Everywhere=0
It's Murky in There=1
What Place is This?=0
Don't Drink That...=0
Jailing the Dead=0
Lands of Dread=1
To the Castle!=0
Dreaded Giants=0
Big Holes Everywhere=1
Hey, Watch Out Over There=0
NULL=
Note that you can change the 0's to 1's if you wish to include those tasks in the macro. The ones already defaulted with a zero are usually the quickest ones to complete. Sometimes the zero ones need a little tweaking :)
edit : stupid question before
well trying to run the warp version I face the following problem : it accepts no tasks at all even if I set all to 1 in the ini file, any hints ?
edit2 : I think the pb might be in the following line :
/ini "AdvTask.ini" "${Zone}" "${MyTasks}"
change it to :
/ini "AutoTask.ini" "${Zone}" "${MyTasks}"
what level are ya? =)
The revised advtaskwarp piggybacks off of the same INI that the caster and runner version uses. You can either rename your old one or change the INI line in the macro, just kep in mind that all updates that i make to the macro still have the migrated INI name.
