How can you use this macro now after patch? My MQ2 aint working because of incorrect version. latest source is september 27th.

I put in a /delay 2s after reaching each checkpoint. This allows the game to register that you completed the task step before warping/moving on. My record time of running before crashing is 8hours 30mins. With this I can get roughly 35-40AA at lvl 66 a day. Not bad, I think this much better than using a bard to power lvl in vxed or fh.

2 things I noticed:

If you are going to run this mac, try to modify it la lttle so it isn't the exact some mac. I saw on the nameless server lastnight 4 toons all standing on the exact same loc all saying the exact sme line to request the task. Hello that is a little obvious. Change the loc you warp to be something else so it isn't so obvious, also consider cahgning the request line from "Do you have any tasks?" to something like Gimme some tasks, Biatch!" or evenm just "Tasks".

Also if i loaded zone texture catching to speed up zone times I would crash with in 30 minutes every time. When I just did it the standard way I ran for 6 hrs straight. Just an FYI based on my system and experiences.

Hope this helps.

trying without zone tex caching....will post results in a few, might also help with mem leak problem, seeing as when i initially start up eq, it onyl takes about 250 mb ram, after a few hours have gone by, i'm out of reg mem (have 1gb on my mainn comp) and need to go into virtual

What do you guys get from Start>Crash AA whise?
High: 16
Normal: 12-13
Low: 5-6
For me.

ran for bout half hour, no ctd's or anything, in fact i zone about the same time as with text cache on....

mochila,

my high was 25 unused, but i spent those 25 while it was till running and it ran for another day or so, no idea how much i got total that run, low i've gotten from start to crash is 1-2, usually get between 8 - 15 a run,

Rofl I wonder if you could validly /bug or petition the number of memory leaks over time, just saying that when you play for an extended period of time you notice EQ taking up more and more processor space

lol and Rast does too saw him the other day I think and while I sorted outmy .ini issue he had completed like 6 tasks

um, so please pm me to verify that you know who i am..i don't want who i am am in-game to spread around

EDIT: If i start getting harrassed in-game, i will change names in-game

just thought about this...what if we were to lvl up past 66 and use 65 shroud...maybe that would allow lvls higher than 66 to use this macro :) anyone test for me please? am about a yellow from ding and would rather putt the xp towards aa than dinging for a possibly useless experiment...thanks

Just tested by a friend not me, Level 67's can still use this and get all of the karnor's tasks.....There is a bit more of an AA penalty though, but if you're pressed for groups and need that extra level...its possible....

just tested this with 67 druid, tried in shroud, got all the tasks (lvl 65 shroud), tried the same with a lvl 70 cleric, in a 65 shroud, go all of the tasks :D

If i'm not just encountering a bug, this means you can have afk lvling from like 58 to 70 for any class using tasks :)

edit: its not toally afk as for each level , once you reach to max, it will stay at 100%, until you get out of shroud then get shroud again, then you can keep going up

I've been running this task non stop for 3 days straight and have recieved 92 aas so far. been running it as a 65 shroud toon. am lvl 66. good afk exp when i'm too busy with RL.

Woah...no way....
Give some of your PC's stats...and which shroud? And which zone/warp plugin?

Ram: 1.5 gb ddr400
Dsl: 3mb down 2mb up
Cpu: AMD Athlon 64 2800+
hd: 10,000 rpm 150gb
I'm running three monitors, so i have 3 gfx, cards, lets suffice to say that the total cost for all three was over $1000

(yes if you compare to other posts, i have upgraded recently lol)

i keep revising my macro and have it now so that i get a lil over 3 aa's per hour, and i can run it for over 1 day (due to pc tweaks) before it crashes. i have 2X 1gb sticks being mailed to me, so will see how memory affects running time

the eliminating of useless proccesses (don't rememeber who posed it, but someone poseted a .bat file that would stop all proccesses that weren't neccessary), and the system managed paging file that you tipped me off to. Totally restart your comp before you run this macro, and make sure no unneeded proccosses are running...i also would not recommend using a progrma like winamp to play music while your macro is going, seeing as that eats memory.

Lol me. But I havent tried letting the system manage my pagefile yet, I'll reset it after tonight, but yeah I always do a restart or such before running the mac for a full night or morning etc

I haven't got up the balls to leave the /warp /zone one running afk, is it safe? What's the likelihood of a GM seeing me zoneing 3 times in 2 minutes while this is running? My buddy and I share a cleric and trying to get her some extra AA's, I'd hate to have to explain to my buddy why the account got banned though. How safe is this? Also, if you use the pathing algorithm version, how do you work around all the mobs beating on you, as you can't do it with /ghost on and you can't talk to the task giver invis anyway. Cleric and Druid both take a beating just strolling through Karnor's, even at 65.

Oh, and first post for me on redguides!

Can build an invis script into the Marana talk, or use a rogue and use hide/run and never be seen except for three secs or so. This invis/hide bit works with both pathfile and warp versions.....and I've gotten over 300ish aa, no gm's :)

gratz on first post bror :) sorry i didn't get to you sooner, but i've been running afk taskmaster macro since about 2 weeks before the dodh expansion came out (yes...back when there were lockout timers :p) it is completely safe in my opinion, other than the normal risks with using mq2...gms are more concerned with mm's, shared cracks and such, not /warping, /gating, /zoning, /fading

So I could get rogue shroud, and code in a hide/sneak script after I talk to taskgiver and then unhide when I do the hail? How do you go about coding abilities into macros? Just /doability like in game hotbutton coding?

Think I might try the path version on my pally with /noaccel on and AA horsie going. That would make the pathing algorithm a lot faster hehe :)

ya, /doability ##, then /delay 5, or you could make a hotbutton with the ability on it and just do /keypress # (e.g. put sneak in hotbutton1 slot, /keypress 1, /delay 5, will press the hotbutton and then wait .5 of a second to make sure it has enough time to load)

Simplest way to have it drop hide for the "tasks" to register is coding in

/attack
/say Gimme meh tasks
/attack
/doability ##

Everything in red is what you need to *add*

Also if you're a caster, you can have it setup like
/attack
/say tasks now!
/attack
/cast "Invisibility"

The cast command will work long as you have the spell memmed

simple.

Non-Attackable npc, it doesnt even give you a message....I forgot to add something though to my code...Look at the edit I'm posting in my previous post.

For the rogue/shroud, I found I needed to invoke "/docrack hiderun on" after hiding or selected mobs in Karnor were seeing through my Hide. May be another explanation for the mobs' behavior, but this is the only solution I found. Executing "/docrack hiderun off" at task completion and returning to Marana, and immediately before the /say for a new task, has the added bonus of dropping Hide as well.

Ok been running this mac for about a week now and I am really impressed tbh. I have spent several hours tweaking the code for my toon and messing around with my video and computer settings. Here is a list of the things that I have done to increas load time and prevent CTDs. I'll prefce this by saying trhat when I first ran this mac I was set on the highest video setting in game. I have 1.5GB of DDR RAM, and Radeon 9800 Pro with 256 DDR on board, and a 2.4 MHZ Petium 2. Not to bad imho. It took me ~4 minutes 23 seconds to do one task (Basically 4 /zones) from the time I got the task till I asked for another one. That time does not reflect the gap between getting a new task since that could be 1 second to 2 minutes before I get another one issued to me.
1. The first thing I did was tunr off all models and drop everything off of the settings menue. Including Texture catching. I noticed that with Texture catching it only lowered the load time by a few seconds and also caused me to CTD after 30 minutes or so. I maintained the resolution at my current setting of 1024x768 and dropped the graphics quality to low. In game I turned off everything in the in the display tab. Char. names Target rings lowed every slider bar all the way to the left. Under the Advanced tab I deselect every boc and dropped every drop down to the lowest setting or turned it off if possible. Shut down the game for the effects to reload then reboot the comp. After doing all of this Avg time for a task droipped to ~3min 16 sec. Not to bad for the easy stuff.
2. Next I went into my computer setting and adjusted how the computer manages the page files for memory. See this link for how to do it. Everquest Tech Support after this the avg time was ~3 minutes and 2 secs and noticiable decreas in the run time till CTD.
3. Last night I ran the WeaselSpeed.bat and WeaselStart.bat. To clarify I was very nervous on how they might screw my computer. I run XP. Ran the two programs and reboooted. Got into the game and started the mac. Avg time per task ~2minutes 37 seconds.
4. I remembered that when I use to play Quake not understand what resolution ment. I was 16 at the time. I did notice that if I selected the highest resolution I could not play and took forever to load. <Que Lightbulb> I remembered that the resolution was still pretty high so I went inot the options menue once again and looked at the resolution selection. Still at that 1024x768 dropped it down all of the way to 640x480. YIKES! Can we say neintendo old scholl pixels. When you can seethe individual pixels that is taking it back. I got ingame and was crap my Inventoy window about took the whole screen. I tried the mac after rearranging my windows. Started the Mac and sqaw the popup picked a task and off I went went throughhj one whole mission but when I went to my second it didnt read the request rught and assineg the same task despit it not being offered. Zoned and died because I just sat there and got pummeled in Karnors. Tried again and same thing. Only thing I could figure is the the resolutiuon and big menues we messing up something. I then went into the Display options and saw something I missed. In the resolution tab I went back to 1024x768 and also saw the you could change the colors from 32 bit to 16 bit, Big difference. Re adjusted the my layout and started again. Flawless for 5 runes. Drum roll please....2 minutes 6 seconds! Over half of the time Of my first run!
4. I use an ability to make myself invisable instantly. In the code right before I ask for a task I have a line in my mac to remove the invis.
Rich (BB code):
/notify BuffWindow Buff0 leftmouseup
Now the invis is in the first buffslot. Buff slots start at 0 not 1 sopp adjust the slot your invis takes. I use invis to try to stay a little less conspicous when zoning into Karnors and other places. As soon as I get a task I have another simple line liek listed above using /keypress 0 to actiavate the ability. Now the final tweek I discoverd was more or less a minor one for estetic purposes. Close all of the windows you can. except the Hot key button or else the /keypress command wont work and the buffs window showing the invis or else you cant clik off the invis buff with the /notify command. Here are the windows I have up: Buffs, MQ, Mainchat, Hot keys, Abilities, Task window, and request window to get the tasks. Everything else is closed.
5. Taking it to the test. The maximum I have ever had this mac run before CTD was ~6 hours and the shortest is 30 minutes. On average it is around 3.5 hours. After maiking all of the tweeks I listed above I started the mac last night and walked away. I went and watched a movie and went to bed. I got up this morning and was floored! Now 6 hours would have been great. but after 11 hours I was still going strong. I had the Exp split 50-50. and when I begain I was 85% into 64 and was 30% into my next AA and had no AA's banked. This morning I was 37% into 66 and had 9 AA's even. Forgot ot check my plat. Can we say WOOT!
6. Time to crunch the numbers! In an ideal world where every request got me a task the first time would equate to roughly 28.57 tasks per hour. 28.57 tasks X 13% AA exp per task = 3.7141 AA points per hour, or 89.136 AA's per day! Also 28.57 X 73 plat per task = 2,085 plat per hour or 50,054 per day, 350,382 per week, 1,401,529.9 per month, 16,818,358 per year, may calculator broke when it came to decades. Realistically you shoud be getting between 2-2.5 AA's an hour.

I hope this write up helps some of you maxamize your macroing and max you AA's ASAP! PM Me with your results and if you noticeing anything else I missed. My goal is to drop my average run under 2 minutes. Good luck and happy macroing!

http://www.corsair.com/corsair/xms.html

Corsair XMS Ram is all I can say. I have been using this macro for days without a single CTD. I use the paired 1gb sticks for a 2gb total. The sticks cost me somewhere around $600, but they run like Mack Trucks and are well worth the money.

Morlock, were you using the mac with warping or using moveutils? I'm assuming warping but wanted to be sure. Still a little leary about warping around after all the bans, but from what i gather the bans were mostly just for shared bank offenders.

If you can get this to work with the advpath ini go for it but I use the warp and zone hacks to fly threw them.

Anybody know where there might be a collection of the available tasks for all levels?

As a 65 Cleric I get 13% AA per task and a little over 74pp. It break down to 1 AA per 83min. I have never had a CTD with the non-warp version. I have been using my non-warp version as sometimes KC is populated and I didn't want to draw attention to myself. I will be posting a newer version for those using the non-warp version.
