And because of that, you believe everyone should think the way you think and if they do not think that way you're going to punish them. Just mind your business.
I mean, seriously MacroQuest isn't a secret to Daybreak. It simply isn't, you PETITIONing is the reason they will be banned, NOT because they aren't using tools. I don't use tools, there's multiple reasons for it but the simple one is I don't want too. If YOU AFK macro, and YOU report others that AFK macro, because THEY don't think like you.
That's the problem. You're pointing them out to Daybreak. Do you even realize how much of the population uses MacroQuest?
For example, 2 years ago on Vox, everyone in the top two guilds (basically the only two guilds, probably 150people or so) used MacroQuest. They were encouraged and openly talked about it in general multiple times.
no bans.
they ban when you complain.
I think you are mis-understanding me. I don't want MQ2 users banned, just idiots that run afk macros in front of people. Shit man, I've been on this scene for 11 years, seen and done all kinds of things in EQ using MQ2. Consequences for misuse of MQ2 are necessary.
Here is a list of things I have personally done, and think I should of been banned for (some I have been banned for)
-Crashing zones to pop names
-Ghost killing Raid mobs
-No delay usage on just about everything... (Hack effectively changes weapons to 0 delay)
-AFK Warp killing in PoP Hedge maze (why run to the next mob it takes too long)
-AFK Macroing in about every damn zone in this game
I don't do any of this crap anymore, except for afk groups with extreme player checks in place, but there has to be consequences for your actions and its a slippery slope... What you are saying is because MQ2 is part of the game you should be able to do anything with impunity and these are extreme examples of my rational, but you get the point. Again, I'm not advocating banning some guy boxing in some remote out of date zone, I'm advocating petitioning the AFK jackass doing it at the Zone In to a current expansion zone. That might seem like something small compared to my list, but it escalates from there, and MQ2 is an extremely powerful tool that can ruin this game if left unchecked. Not to dork out... "with great power, comes great responsibility" and if you are AFK botting without Player Checks... you are doing it wrong and deserve to be banned. I'm also not saying everyone needs to think this way, but some of us do think this way, and to be careful when AFK macroing.
If you really want to know the backstory of why I'd petition another MQ2 player "breaking the rules" here you go:
Back in 2006-2007 I helped maintain MQ2Warp and on Redguides I even released a how to guide to circumventing the code the MQ2 devs put in place to prevent its usage. My Title was even "Bane of the MQ2 Devs" for several years, and then fast forward a couple years. I was minding my business farming my named for a drop I was needing, and I had a guy with a full group warp right on top of a named as it popped... Burn it down and gate out. I was beyond pissed... SoE didn't do anything... and there I was, thinking WTF have I done. I had looked the other way too many times... and I was part of the problem with the MQ2 community. I swore that I would change that, and I have since not used any active hacks and have gone out of my way to make sure folks have little to no exposure to the fact someone is using MQ2. Anything that violates that, I oppose vehemently.
