Guide - Aaryonar Max Echo Achievement (Post Jan 21 Patch)

Completed on the test server w/ 6 box crew. Group: War, Shm, Clr, Bst, Brd, Zerk.

The major changes are:
No raptors spawn during event so just keep folks alive while you build the ranks up to rank 5 of each auras.
The Earth Aura still traps the player 40 seconds or so after the auras go off but it doesnt explode so I just let it trap everyone but the tank. You can heal tank through it and those guys dont need to go anywhere. It falls off before new auras spawn.
Shadow Aura - Now ports you outside the zone out room at the end of hallway where you zone in. Anyone can run back quickly to rejoin before needing heals. Only need to pre-clear the 3 static mobs nearby and the 1 wanderer. Do not need to kill the 4 inside the room.
Fire Aura - Appears to be about the same. They may have reduced the dmg.
Ice Aura - Appears to be about the same. My zerker I had do it would get the ice aura, run back to the gather spot and get trapped by earth and not even get pulled back to the ice again usually.

There are a bunch of ways you can win this now but I did the following:

Tank Aary near Fire - Have tank do fire aura. I took out sword and turned off attack after getting aggro to keep Aary above 60% for the 15+ minutes. Everyone else stacks up about midway between Fire and Earth. Roughly 100 units from Tank. Your tank can probably just eat the Fire Auras but if you want to move out of them, that's fine, just make sure you dont turn Aary towards your group. Use Geomantra or whatever to help mitigate.

Remember Aary has a frontal AE Breath dot and a rear stun so face his hind quarters perpendicular to the group to avoid both.

I wrote some MQ2Events so that as soon as the auras spawn, the assigned players would run to the aura and then come right back to the stack spot.

The other big things you do set all assists at to 60 so they dont attack Aary. Set any BST or Ranger types to heal MA at 90 rest at 80ish. have hot key to set assist at 99 after aary goes up at 60.

I ran a dumbed down kissassist mac on my Warrior. It only did the mash type defensive abilities to help mitigate the melee dmg. You need to save your big defensive abilities (Composite Shield, Flash of Anger, Ultimate Stand, Fortitude) for when the auras spawn b/c 20 seconds later you get hit with the dots.

You could do something like this: Rank 1 Auras Spawn: Composite Shield, Rank 2 - Ultimate Stand , Rank 3 - Composite Shield - Rank 4 and 5 - Glyph. Also you have fortitude in back pocket if needed.

I also had flash of anger set to go upon getting intruders curse. You can manually do this or set up a condition in kissassist to have it auto go off when you get the intruder's curse dot. This intruder's curse dot is separate from the other random elemental type dot. If you get both at same time you really need big heals / mitigation. SK is probably easier with all the taps they can do during the dots.

Once you get rank 5 you can still die as long as the event doesnt reset. So make sure you get on Grolik each time he pops up so it doesnt reset on you.

Have a hot button that turns off MQ2Events after your 4 guys get rank 5 so they dont continue to run off when the auras spawn in the grolik phase. Also a hot button that returns your assistat back to 99.

MQ2 Events: You only this event in the file of the character you want to perform the event. Don't put all 4 in everyone's file. Example - I had my zerker do ice - only put the Max Echo - Ice Event in his Ini. Notice the ice and shadow events are for CWTN plugin and the earth event is for kiss. Put both Shadow events in the character doing the shadow aura.

I also made a hot key that would just send everyone back to the stack spot for the beginning or any other time you want. The events should do it for you though.

Good luck! Don't forget you still gotta beat the event to get the achievement. As long as you dont full wipe and it doesnt reset you can still get achievement as long as at some point you had all 4 guys get rank 5. Make sure you get on Grolik quick when he comes up so event doesnt reset on you. That's the worst!

You can Task Add up to 6 players for this Achievement. Confirmed it works.

They do change when you're doing the mission but they only become random after Grolik spawns. For the Achievement which is done with Aary above 60% and Grolik not spawned yet, these locations will continue to be in the same place as shown on map above.
 
This worked like a f'n CHARM. For some reason, my person doing the aura that banishes didn't run back the first time (or ran out there inappropriately, I'm not sure) and the prison popped up while I was killing aary at the end (which surprised me and almost caused a wipe), but otherwise following the mq2events and suggestions herein worked like fantastically. Thanks, all!

I know Sic's video. I am asking for a write up, because i still dont understand what exactly is going on in this encounter. And in Sic's video he emphasized that he didnt know either at the time.

Yep, i got that. But as said, i would like to get the additional info, because when i mess it up somehow, i never know why. And that is becasue i dont know the mechanics itself, just the method.
 
Couple things that might make it easier.
Echo of Ice will block the breathe and the ice penalty is you get pulled to the rock where ice aura originally is. You can leave the tank where he gets pulled and they wont take damage from the breathe.
Grabbing Echo of Fire will give you 1 charge of Flame Touch which does extreme damage to golems (Grolik or guardian adds). If you have a character with a fire focus on arms (meaning they normally get a fire spell) that focus will enhance the flame proc.
Grolik usually HP locks at phases, the one exception is when he first spawns. After you complete the achievement, if you have the character with Echo of Fire V go up to Grolik (pop burns if applicable class)they will 1-shot grolik and skip the entire phase. Aary will land as normal.
I recommend the healer grabs Earth, because it will block Intruder's Curse which is an extra DoT + mana drain, so it's nice if your healer doesn't have to worry about that.

theres been quite a few changes to the mission. every time me and my group wipe on it we pause and open up gameparse and start going thru logs and figuring out what really happened. its not super fun, but it helps us not do the same thing over and over incorrectly.
 
wow, ive known they redid the missions a few times, but havent really tried to do it again (the group i hunt with is a bit squishy hp wise, those AEs hurt).
Running thru and trying the cheesements and strats by tegas and Ssoulle makes this mission totally farmable! big thanks guys!!
 
damn this achievement is hard, for some reason i just cant do it, using shaman and cleric heals. they both die at the rank2 part. roar of darkness and intruders curse just wipes me out. all are cov t3 apart form cleric who is just using pft cov crap tank sometimes gets a random death from Aary too
 
The key to getting the achievement is no damage on Aary until you have rk5 on the 4 toons. Once you get to Rk5 burn aary and burn grolik whilst ignoring orbs (I tank grolik and orbs and heal through). At the start position aary with his head towards wall, non tank toons place at the side near his rear leg and you should avoid some of the AE. Ensure when punishments happen you have all toons close for AE heals. It’s tough but definitely doable. I use shaman and cleric, and need to use staunch on cleric.
 
yeah i was tanking him with darkened cone and shield, using the odd lifetap here and there. its the damn darkness and intruders that keeps killing me for some reason. i will get it though!
 
The bonus buff from having Echo of Ice will negate the debuff from Aary's frontal breath AE. So if the tank stands in the ice aura, that's one less thing you have to worry about. Also, if your automation for the healers is using Celestial Regen (Cleric) and Ancestral Aid (Shaman), you should disable those so that you can manually trigger them when the "Roar of" dots happen.
 
The game changer for us was realising that the Aura's don't start doing their thing until 40 seconds after they spawn.

And you get Intruders Curse 20 seconds after they spawn.

So stay tight until Intruders lands, heal up, then go and do the auras.... that way you're not running around at low health and out of healing range.
 
Finally got this done. Thanks everyone who posted here. It's one of those achievements for which you really need to cover all the bases and ddss! (Don't Do Stupid Shit!)

Used KA 12.001.010 on all 6!

SK tanked in the Ice aura. Remaining group members stood at 1709, -1787 (which is like half way between Ice and Earth spots). From here none of the runners will accidently cross any auras other than their intended one.

Bard did the Shadow, Mage did the Fire, Chanter did the Earth. Cleric and Shaman permanently stood on the main regroup point.

Created a custom key to force group to regroup... never had to use it!

Created a custom key to /bcga //plugin mq2events unload and ONLY used it the final time after the bard ran back from the banish spot. At this point I beat down Aary the final few percent, then made sure the mage had the 1 shot effect from the Fire aura and used it. Then continued to fight Aary on the Ice banish location just in case the tank got lured back into it.

Took me 5 failed runs to get down. For example I had Grolik go underground at 0%... I thought he was dead so I missed him coming back up and since I didn't engage him the event reset. At 0%. Talk about a sinking feeling! This was when I decided to learn how to do the one-shot kill method on Grolik!

Also took me about 3 hours to totally customize my KissAssist INI files so that nobody did any DPS while Aaryonar was > 60% health. For example the bard only sang regen and mitigation type songs. The cleric was loaded with group heals. Mostly played the SK manually and kept every mitigation going. Tanked with a Ceramic Sword of War :: Items :: EverQuest :: ZAM (allakhazam.com) until we hit the 4th level effect and then switched to his regular tanking weapon. Aary was at about 75% on effect 4 and about 68% when we hit 5. I knew I could leash it but every time I had tried that things got messy. So I made sure not to over DPS him.

It's a great feeling getting it done because it was the last step to finishing the Challenger of Claws of Veeshan and getting the extra Hero's points!

Thanks tegas! Worked very well! I had some learning curve issues, but got it done. I did need to add in my cleric with my shammy...
