This is my first attempt at contributing something so please bear with me and vote for my post if you like it and/or it is helpful!

This requires having the Omens of War Expansion

By now those of you that have subscribed to Everquest, and/or this great site, have realized that the Platinum Mine has information that was known already through normal leveling and what have you.

However, there are a few places I have discovered in the Omens of War (OOW) expansion for levels 60-75 to farm items to sell at vendors, in the bazaar, to rework with tradeskills, etc.

The greatest part about this is that this zone is hardly ever populated (for the time being), with only a few other characters running through to get to other zones.

The first place I found to be the most rewarding is Dranik Scar.

Specifically, this zone has many uses. The first is faction gain for the OOW armor tier turn-ins to Shorvock and Tibor. (IF you don't know what I am referring to please look it up on Allakhazam's)

When you kill the following mobs or any of their family members you gain faction with Dranik Loyalists, which you need at least warmly in to complete the turn-ins and receive your Tier Armor. (Otherwise the NPC just takes your item and says it will be useful to him...nice huh?)

These mobs are:
Any of the Kyv type mobs (a kyv, a kyv heartpiercer, etc.)
Any of the Noc type mobs (a noc, a noc shadowhand, etc.)
Any of the Ukun type mobs (an Ukun, an Ukun deathbringer, etc.)

You may also kill any of the Dragorn type mobs, although they will not raise your faction with the Dranik Loyalists, but they will not drop it either.

These mobs also DO NOT dispell beneficial buffs, so your Hit Point Buff is safe.

Now, you may of tried killing these mobs in the zone before, and they hit hard. But I have found that the wanderers in the Southern part of the zone, and the stationary mobs near the Bloodfields zone hit like girls. (No offense ladies)

I have a Level 69 Rogue, and he can solo these with only a few aa points into defensive and offensive aa's. He is decently geared, but I still get him a Tenacity, Distillate of Skinspikes, and Haste potion. He has 7.7K hp with Tenacity, and I use Potions of Celestial Healing (Heal over time) to get his hp up when soloing MULTIPLE mobs (4 or more).

Originally I came to kill these mobs for my faction, but I realized that when I started killing the mobs en masse, I was getting amazing amounts of plat.

The mobs will drop items that sell at vendors for anywhere form 9 platinum to 119 platinum. Yes, some of these items are tradeskill and quest items, (INCLUDING GEMS, ruby has been highest dropped gem so far) but trust me, you will get them again if you need them.

To sell them, simply go back to the Priest of Discord, and wham! You're in the Plane of Knowledge ready to sell the vendor junk, and then bank it, and by the time you get back, all the wanderers have respawned for another round!

Among the best drops that are rare random drops are Augmentation Stones. This is where the real money comes in. Selling them by themselves in the bazaar will, at best, net you anywhere from 200 - 1000 platinum.

Stones that drop include all "flow" type stones such as Starflow, Mudflow, Skyflow, etc.

But if you are a Grandmaster Jeweler (skill 300+) you can cut/rework these stones as much as you like and THEN sell them in the bazaar for 10K and up. Of course, the cheaper you sell them, the quicker you can make more.

I recommend starting to sell them at 5K to move them quickly... you might be able to get upwards of 50K out of them, but hey, with a never ending supply of the stones why bother?

To summarize for the Dranik Scar zone, by killing the mob families listed above, you can gain faction with Dranik Loyalists AND make about 500 - 1000
platinum in an hour from just selling the vendorable items. (And really that is assuming you need a med break in between each mob for an hour because you are low level, my rogue makes closer to 2000 platinum for doing multiple mobs)

You can also tradeskill the Augmentation Stones that drop if you are a Grandmaster Jeweler, and sell them for MASSIVE amounts of plat in the bazaar. But as this is not guaranteed plat, (If no one buys, no plat is made, or if your skill is not high enough) I cannot put an estimate on it.

Note: By farming plat in this zone you may also fund a tradeskill. By this I mean have the available funds to buy the items you need for junk tradeskill combines initially, and then resell them, for the purpose of moving your tradeskill up.

Note for mobs: In this zone is a mob for the Warrior 1.5 Epic, the "Blackfall Borer". He is a serious under-con. (Cons Green at lvl. 69) He is a RAID force mob, or at least a very high group mob. (level 72+) Do not attempt to kill him simply wait until he passes and then resume killing your wandering mobs. IF YOU ARE AGGROED by him, run fast to any zone or the priest of discord and zone out. Wait at least 2 minutes for him to continue on his pathing, and then zone back in.

The other zone I have found that drops very nice gems, items, and some platinum per mob is Harbinger's Spire. The zone in is right off of Dranik Scar in the Northeast Section of the map.

This zone has a few setbacks though. Most of the mobs are grouped together in small rooms, so multiple aggro will occur unless you have some way of pulling them single. (I.E. An enchanter, Bard, Ranger, Cleric, etc.)

I recommend being Level 70 and above for this zone, with offensive and defensive aa's. If you possess really good equipment, you may not need to worry about multiple pulls.

I recommend using the same techniques as in Dranik Scar, HP buff, Skinspike Damage Shield, and Haste in some form with Celestial Healing potions.

These mobs drop vendor trash, and Gems up to Blue Diamonds (yay), and the occasional Augment "XXXX Flow" stone. The named mobs in the zone will drop items of varying value at random.

Based on the gems and vendor trash dropped, assuming that a med break is needed in between each kill, you can make up to 1500 plat an hour in here.

See above references to the Augment Stones and how to profit in the Dranik Scar Section.

You may either sell the items dropped in the Bazaar, or Tribute them off. They often have a fairly decent tribute value such as 2000 and above.

Be forewarned though, there are wandering mobs in this zone, and the mobs hit considerably harder than in Dranik Scar. There are also a few RAID force mobs in this zone, that will end your farming quickly.

If you can farm in here, you may want to check out Dranik Scar as you might be able to drop mobs quicker. More kills = more platinum per hour.

This next zone requires the Legacy of Ykesha Expansion Only

This next zone uses the same recommendations as previous zones, but you may choose not to use the Damage Shield potion.

I recommend being at least lvl 60 with some decent gear, and having a minimum of 5K hit points unbuffed.

Fighting the pirates on the ships in Dulak Harbor will net you some Gems, and some vendor trash in the form of harpoons and shields that sell for around 5 and 10 platinum each. These mobs may drop blue diamonds, but it is very rare. Most common gem drop is Fire Emerald and below.

I recommend either fighting or invising directly to a specific ship as their are wanderer's in the zone that will aggro while you are fighting. Most mobs on the ships can be single pulled and killed if you are careful. The ship "Windscorn" is a higher mob ship, and contains a name that randomly spawns. These mobs are tough, and hit harder and faster, and are closer together.

Assuming that you need a break in between each kill, you can make about 200 - 750 platinum an hour.

Obviously the more you kill, the more you make.
---------------------------------------------------

This concludes the newer farming zones, I will try to post more as I find them!

I hope that you found this helpful and please vote for this as favorite post as you will be making LOTS of platinum, and no more fighting over Hill Giant spawn!

Peace-

I go here with my 75 bst, and i will say you are correct. Everything is grey here but i net about 4k in 2 hrs. I am VERY well geared tho and max DPS aas. I very rarely need to heal. On the last ship i see a blue con to me sometimes. drops nothin of value (for a bst) think its a 1.5 mob or something. Havent researched it. I usually pick some 50-60 character in zone that is lvling and ask him if he wants free xp.

The kyvs that spawn on the walls and ramp near the noble's causeway line in dranik's scar are a bit harder than their wandering counterparts below, but offer a different variety of drops. They will not drop as uch vendor trash but they can drop slugworms and tend to do so more commonly than you would think. I sometimes clear the walls 4-5 times and come out with about 20k.

everfrost peaks is a good place to farm plat. I take my 68 ranger 130 aa's and i can kill the ice giants in the eastern part of the zone no problem. they drop a ton of coin and usually an item or 2 that you can sell at the wayferers camp for more pp. i can make about 2oopp in 5 minutes if the coin drops right. i stay there for an hour or so and make 4 trips to the waferers merchant to unload the dropped items. there are only 3 giants so you will have to wait for them to respawn. its easy plat and if you go into everfrost itself , invis and go to the bottom for the same type of plat with better item drops.

Want a easy plat farm? Go to Katta and farm the boots guy. He is a coterie that spawns behind a locked door but that locked door wont stop an MQ'r now would it?

Boots sell for 500pp or so.

Recommend being lvl 45+ unles syou are heavily twinked.

Kill the named in Gorukar mesa. There is like 6 named giants a tree and 2 or 3 fawns and they all sell for 300+pp

Recommend being 60+ unless you are amazingly twinked.

PoN hobgoblin caves, Cleared the cave from start to where Vhaksiz the shade is. Took me around 30 minutes and i had 3.2k in vendor loot and various tradeskill items that could be sold in bazaar. My Bl is gimp 13k buffed 1600aa.
Vhaksiz the Shade drops some decent tribute items too.

monkbug the sleepers tomb for 4k under 13 minutes...
(the non raid mobs)

sell the gem drops to a merchant.

:P

respawns are quick too... by the time you clear, sell and return... there up.

enjoy.
