OK I have been helping some folks get set up with macroquest /kissassist and decided to post info here as well as it might be helpful , although its probably on other posts this is kinda a quick and dirty rundown on setting up macroquest with some helpful things such as a usable everquest ini with hot buttons already made for most important eqbc commands.

Firstly to set up macroquest easily

  1. Download macroquest compile to the desktop using save as , next right click and be sure its unblocked.
  2. Unzip the release folder to desktop (or wherever you prefer)
  3. Open the release folder and right click mq2eqbc and pin to task bar
also pin macroquest exe to taskbar as well
  4. Open everquest folder and pin eqgame to taskbar then right click eq on taskbar choose propertys and add a space patchme this will bypass eq patcher window .
  5. Next open macroquest folder and choose uifolder in release folder open that and copy all the ui files from that .
then open everquest/uifiles/ and make a folder called myui paste the files you copied from the release/uifiles into that folder and close folder
if you have a special ui already you can copy those files into that as well .
  6. Now that that stuff is done hit your eqbc.exe then your mq exe on taskbar to start them
next log a char into game and once in game check to see you see a mq window.
assuming all is going well the next thing to do is type these following commands into the mq window

Rich (BB code):
/plugin mq2eqbc load
/bccmd connect
You should see it connecting and then say connect.

If you are trying to use two computers you would open your Ethernet property's and find you ip4 ip address and use that from main machine as your connect ip like this /bccmd connect 192.168.1.245 or whatever your ip adress is for the main machine you want to connect your secondary machine to.

Rich (BB code):
/bccmd set autoconnect on
/bccmd reconnect on

Now that you have eqbc working next step is hotkeys
You would make these using hot buttons in eq all of these would be made and used on your controlling toon that you would be assisting with kissassist macro.
Rich (BB code):
bcgassist - /bcg //macro kissassist assist name , this will make all of your group assist your main assist.
camphere - /bcg //camphere: this would make them stay where they are presently standing.
chaseon - /bcg //chaseon: this would make your group follow you
pausemac - /bcg //mqp :this would pause all macros
 gpetattack - /bcg //assist name

2nd line
Rich (BB code):
/bcg //petattack
duplicate second line to third line and hit accept this is great to make your pets all assist the ma if they happen to get side tracked or a mob is mezzed and they stop attacking.

  • Next is mq2notepad this lets you edit ini inside of everquest however I'd suggest also having notepad++ and have that pinned to desktop for editing as well when you need to .
  • In the mq window type /plugin mq2notepad unload
  • Then type "/plugin mq2notepad load" it should tell you you need to reload your ini to make it work type "/loadskin myui" or whatever your everquest ui folder was you installed those files into earlier.
  • Now create a hotbutton call it edit then in command put /notepad kissassist_toonname.ini then save , if all is right when you hit this button you will be able to edit the kiss ini right inside of eq.(if you dont use kiss you might be able to lead it to where the ini of the bot macro you use is located for same use )
  • If you run multiple groups you can use the /bca tag for your commands and duplicate the commands above to make a second group assist and listen to commands as well.
  • Now with that char ini you can copy layout to all of your toons and have the same buttons on all of them but remember to change names to each char.
  • I would suggest using a decent hud as well I will add one to link below, if notepad refuses to work use the notepad.ini i provide drop it in release folder and make sure to edit the directory to match where your directory is.

Below are 2 everquest ui files drop them into your everquest directory and then hit copy layout hot buttons and socials and you will have the buttons I was talking about making from above.

You put a bit of work into this, thanks for sharing. But a bit of formatting would make this less painful on the eyes and easier to follow.

I would suggest going through that INI you posted my man , and removing your character names man ...

Happy to help, always nice to have guides being written.

Any for anyone wondering if they should do this (i.e. setup EQBC), DO IT... DO IT NOW! It changed the way I boxed. I couldn't imagine playing without it, and I don't even use it to its full potential.

Eqbc is like the iPhone, you don't know how you got by without it before you get one, and it's difficult to explain why it's such a big diff... Same thing as playing eq without versus playing with eqbc.

Red pill? blue pill? Read this post go back to your playing without eqbc or with it...

Its one of those utilities that are life changing. I can't imagine playing without it. I have an EQBC thread in the Plugins area from when I was helping others with it. Feel free to cross reference posts if you want. I'll do the same there.
