I go bard instead of chanter (in general) because of the utility for travel (how does anyone travel at less than 84 velocity and double invis!?) Bard doesn't have any problem mezzing, but it does mess up his chants later in the fight.

I'm afraid you're going to need better gear / dps. I'm thankfully at the same point. I actually find it easier to just set the tank, set the group, say the phrase and walk away from the keyboard at this point. Burn just means I use my cooldowns for no real reason.

I've had a LOT of problems with this while using mq2twist and driving with my bard. I eventually had to make hotkeys that use the /sing command to get twist to play nice.

If the tank has a DS, sometimes the mob gets to 99% early. OA toon will run off to wherever the mob is being pulled from and engage. Do an /oa assistat 97 or 98 and you should be good. Not sure about the chat spam. I've never had that issue.
