I've not been able to get to 4k (I also haven't really tried super hard). MQ makes the EQ Window autoscale, I think it's in the MQ settings, and that could be the cause of your crashing. What are you trying to accomplish with 4k? Better graphics? Better scaled UI elements? I highly recommend...

I just write EQBC compatibility shims for anything that requires dannet. EQBC on linux is far superior to EQBC on Windows, especially if you compile EQBC for Linux. Think there's a quick explainer for how to do it on the Wiki page for EQBC... For CachyOS I had to download the build for LibSafeC...

It always amazes their refusal to consider 3rd party UI/customization plugins. Literally mqlua can build any of the features that take the dev team months in just a few hours (new UI engine written in typescript🤮 vs Lua with IMGUI 😎). Taking directions from P99 is just askingplain wrong in 2026.

Integrated graphics are perfect for running many instances of eq. Especially with framelimiter, you can run as many instances as your RAM can handle with no worries about vram (integrated graphics do come at a slight cost to your actual RAM).

You could try moving an EQGame window underneath (or above) the icon and see if that works (it used to last year on Ubuntu 22.04, but it didn't last time I tried on 26.04). Or try running with a WINE virtual desktop and move the desktop underneath it and see what happens.

Are you able to left click the icon and get that menu to show up? I've not been able to get the right click menu to show up, but the left click window works on both CachyOS, Ubuntu 24.04, and 26.04. If you're taking the team to live, ditch the shaman for a wizard. Not sure when exactly paladins can solo heal group content but iirc you can do it pretty early on if you get good gear. Slows are important though, so maybe enchanter would be better (slows + Uber charm pets)
