I started a 3-box FTP group consisting of a Beastlord, a Berserker, and a Wizard.

I'm using:
  • The A2 mercs (one healer, two melee dps)
  • a FTP 105 druid for buffs and out-of-group healing (for later on)
    • You can probably get away with something lower-leveled, Chlorotrope is keeping the berserker alive through 60
  • A FTP 96 Enchanter (again out of group, just for buffs and slows, probably not needed)

In general: you want consistent pulls of white/yellow mobs. You can get around this during the early levels (eg. level 10 or 11 I started with the ogre skeletons) but it can be tough trying to do it at higher levels.
I'd say try to stick around 3-4 levels higher than you group, maximum.

Here's what I've done so far in 3 days.

Level 1-5: Crescent Reach
Just let your group run around a kill things. I used 2 A2 Wizard mercs and made my wizard pull to a central location.
You can move to the next location whenever you feel comfortable.

Level 5-10: Crescent Reach Part 2
Same as before. just north of the bridge this time. Pulled bears, pumas, drakes.

5-10.png

Level 10-15: Crescent Reach Part 3
Somewhat similar to the previous - I made a central camp in the general area (just across from the river) pulling the ogre skeletons and the occasional nokk skeleton.

10-15.png

Level 15-20: Crescent Reach Part 4
The trick was to stick right outside of the aggro range of the 2 mobs that spawn by the pond to the north, but still stay against the wall. You can ride this out until mobs start turning blue.

Level 20-25: Blightfire Moors - Treants and Sporalis
I'd start with the treants first for a level or two then move to the Sporalis

20-25 BFM.png

Level 20-30: Blightfire Moors - Wasps and Bixies
Stay north of the path near the green X - you should mostly pull wasps as the bixies are a few levels higher

25-30 BFM.png

Level 30-35: Blightfire Moors - Treants and Lockjaws
Occasionally I pulled Agatha the Witch, but if you set up the camp further away from her spawn, you won't have the same issue.

30-35 BFM.png

Level 35-40: Goru`kar Mesa - Wolves, Snakes, Tarantulas
I set up across the bridge along the cliff face - it'll slow down around 38-39, but you can always switch to Potameids earlier if you feel comfortable

35-40 GKM.png

Level 40-45: Potameids
Add the quest mobs listed on the map to your ignore list (you don't want to be THAT rude) - you'll occasionally pull a lower-level snake but it should still con blue.
Make sure you puller isn't pulling across the water because you probably don't have a decent swimming skill yet :)

Level 45-50: Dreadlands - Giants or Random KC Wanderers
I provided the Giant fort spot (I started here and noticed it was slow) which should take to 50 easily if you don't feel comfortable with the trash that wanders around KC - they can mob up to 3 or 4 at a time.

Level 50-55: Skyfire Mountains
I set up camp just north of the druid port (marked with the green '1') and once I felt comfortable with the increase in the mob DPS I moved up near the second spot (marked with the green '2')
I wouldn't move past the lava river as their are higher-level spawns closer to the VP entrance

Level 55-60: Riwwi, Coliseum of Games
This is when I would either get a J2 merc or an off-healer as the DPS the mobs put out gets rough. I started at the camp in the first picture, then moved into the room with the stoneworkers (behind the fighting pit) once I felt that I had control of the damage output, around Level 57 or so.

Level 60-65: Bastion of Thunder - Earth Wing
I highly suggest hitting the bazaar or the non-visible defiant vendor to start gearing some of your toons.

Any other wing would probably be just as good, it really depends on the daily quest (you don't want to be rude) and where you can find a decent spot to camp.
I started in the red circle, making sure my berserker could take the hits, then moved to the blue circle once I felt comfortable. 60-65 took about 10 hours.
You may also want to spend some time on some AAs.
Your tank will want Combat Agility and Combat Stability to help your healer out.
Your healer will want to get some healing AAs.

Level 65-70: Plane of Fire - C2
I don't know if this is formally called C2, but I made it work. C1 would also probably work just as well.
If you didn't get any AA's in BoT, I would spend some time near the zone-in working on some.
I started in the red circle and moved into the blue circle around 67-68 once I felt comfortable handling the mobs.

Once you hit 70, you can do a few different things:
  1. Incorporate a new heroic toon into your group. If you do this, you should be able to handle House of Thule yard trash.
    • I would choose a knight class (Paladin or SK) or a pet tank class, leaning towards a mage, and sit near the entrance.
  2. Stay in PoFire until 75.
  3. Explore and learn. This is what made EverQuest fun in the first place - the giant world with lots of stuff to see.
  4. Valdeholm, Direwind Cliffs, or Icefall Glacier
Either way, once you hit 75, you can start grouping with Level 105 players.
If you have a Level 105 character, I would suggest The Grounds from 75-85. I like the area in the Bixie fort.
If you have a Level 110 character, you'll have to keep grinding until 80. Once you're at 80, I would suggest working on your Tear of Alaris in the Underground Arena in Shard's Landing.
If you don't have these luxuries, stay tuned for the rest of the guide.

Without a higher-level toon:
If your group comp doesn't have CC, you'll have to take a hit in kills/hour since some camps will require CC.
I HIGHLY recommend an enchanter as mezz scales with content better than a bard's CC. However, skilled bards can single pull anything from across the zone.

Level Range

Zone

Notes

70-75

PoFire, C2 camp

75-80

Dragonscale Hills - multiple camps

80-85

Hills of Shade - multiple camps

I believe Defiant gear stops around these levels

85-90

Feerrot: The Dream (if you can't tank The Grounds yet)

Focus on getting T1/T2 HoT armor for at least your tank

90-95

Valley of Lunanyn (if you can't tank Beast's Domain)

Focus on getting VoA gear for at least your tank

95-100

Shard's Landing (Cobalt camp)

The hunter quests are great for augmenting your experience
Try to get RoS T1 for your tank
Daily HAs are a nice boost to experience

100-105

ETWK (Doomscale cultists)/Tempest Temple/Katta Castrum: Deluge

Daily HAs are a nice boost to experience
Be sure to do some HAs to get COTF gear for at least your tank
Tempest Temple - Find a safe spot on the beach on the west side of the zone, depending on your gear you might be able to handle a named camp
Katta Castrum: Deluge - there's a nice spot with Shissar (non-named camp) around /loc -478, -693 which will net more kills/hour if you can tank it - ask for some help breaking the camp and you should get at most doubles on each pull
