To make Macroquest2 compatible with WindowsXP, copy this .exe over the one in your release folder. Do this every patch.

yup, have a few machines sitting nearby still using it... and Vista! =P

Work even has a mess of them.... it's scawwy. But it is also a damn reliable

Sorry guys laugh al you want, but I run several old desktops and laptops. Many not capable of getting the "upgraded OS's". They still work for EQ, and other misc. stuff i do. Heck, do you know how hard it is to slow a comp down to run "Pools of Radiance"? And What about all my Documents I created in the FREE, nice and simple to use, "Works" Program .... they don't transfer nicely and I would have to PAY for "Office" (which has 100x more crap on it than I'll ever need).
So, If they work, and are useable, why waste the $$ on upgrade OS (and maybe requires hardware to use said OS) when you don't really need to.

Windows 95 = 1
Windows 98 = 1
Windows ME = 1
Windows XP = 2 (One was a ME patched over to XP)
Windows Vista = 1
Windows 7 = 2
Windows 8 = 3
Windows 10 = 0

Ridicule all you want, but understand guys, I remember milking the cows by hand in the lantern light because electricity hadn't made it to where I lived yet, or using a outhouse because running water was "only for the rich".
I'll use it till it don't work anymore.

hmm...

How'd you get eq to work on xp?... I know it "used" to, but every time I force feed the install to my xp machine it has a fit and won't load.

what could I be missing?

Last time i did it, i just went to website and downloaded it..mind its been a year or 2...

It don't work any more LMAO. Redbot had to patch an exe so it did.

This is just a big large pile of "NOPE" for me... Seriously, the power that is required to run these rigs costs more than a Rasberry Pi that can accomplish XP and earlier with a cost saving after about a month or 2. Power costs from old computers typically run around $30 a month, Rasberry Pi using next to nothing power wise, so it will buy the computer for you.

Long story short, ditch the 98 / 95 computers. If you really want to rock XP, just grab a couple Pi's and have it run your EQ boxes.

Oh, and Windows ME... How is that computer still running? On a new PC back in 2000 just doing an update would break it. I remember converting all my PCs to Windows 2000 to have a functional system.

Can you run win 7 on a Pi, and if you can, how many instances would it run? And finally if you can do it, how hard hard would it be to set up?

Yes and not many with graphics. Now if you take away graphics you could probably get 3 to 4 instances running. Doing a viewport of 0 0 1 1 would remove graphics.

How do you setup up Win 7 on a Pi? I have only ever seen writes on a pi 2 using win 7 as a thin client against a server.

I mis-spoke on this, because the pi runs on an ARM architecture, you can't install windows directly on to it, except for Win 10 IoT ISO which isn't really windows. If wanting to do a Pi-like device to run i've used http://www.amazon.com/Intel-Generation-Compute-Processor-BOXSTK1AW32SC/dp/B01AZC4NHS/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1461764552&sr=8-4&keywords=intel+hdmi+stick which is actually pretty decent for EQ. Pi can support thin clients, but not many are going to run a central server in their house unless your name is Razkle.

There are plenty of small CPUs out there that do run EQ without much issue that are very much like the Pi, but the Pi itself cannot.
