I thought it was lame when the goons over at SomethingAwful.com started charging $9.99 per month to access their forums. Now you guys are trying to cash in!

What makes you think I would want to pay for your so called "gold" content? I mean your front page stories are funny, if occasionally "tldr", but seriously... me pay money... for THAT!! Yea right.

So unless that access comes with a voucher for a BJ down at the local "gentleman's retreat", then sorry... I an't wasting my cash here! :mad:

From what I've seen, you hung around on Notaddicted.com before Redguides merged with it (correct me if I'm wrong). The old NotAddicted.com forums are still here. Forgive me if this seems like a leap of logic, but you're not really losing anything. Your old forums are still here, there are now the Level 1 forums open to the public which are available to you, neither of which you have to pay for.

Let's recap: you're not losing any forums or content, there's going to be a population increase, and you're gaining access to more forums. Without paying a cent.

Don't pay for the higher tiered access if you don't want to. You can either contribute something worthwhile and get points to gain free access if that's your kind of thing -- or don't...

There's so many options!

Notaddicted.com has gone all corporate! I see, just like Wayne's World... so I wonder if Notaddicted will loose that "group of friends" frat boy feel, and now become a corporate slut just out to make money, like windrivers.com and expertsexchange.com ( I remove the hyphen on principle, as they have the hide to phuck your wallet for information you can find for free elsewhere. )

... and yes I have been around for a long time, even had an emote named after me due to my compulsive habit of stalking g.i.r.l.'s on MMORPG games.

... AND I see that my smilie is gone too. :mad: This does not bode well for thee.

Hey ripper, nice to see you made it over!

Give us at least a week before you make up your mind on this. We're not changing how we write for the frontpage, and I think the strategy forums are a nice complement to the site. For example, the Girl IRL article was made with a trick I thought up to make gold, and as you saw, I made thousands in a few hours. I, and I'm sure many other people, want somewhere to share such strategies before they get nerfed. A private forum will keep it from getting nerfed as quickly as a public one, plus the writers are rewarded, so it's a win-win.

OK, OK... Who are you people, when what have you done with the Notaddicted staff??!!

Well my avatar is broken and my smilie is gone, not exactly a sterling first impression I might add. I'll give it a week and see what happens, but I an't promising anything. Besides I have too much angst, agro and anger ( the three R's ) to vent about MMO games, and I haven't even begun to beta WAR yet, and I know I'm going to have mountains to write about Conan and how the kids react to the nipple-fest therein.

As for cheating, that's all split into seperate forums, if you're not a bad person and you don't cheat in video games, you don't ever have to see a cheat on this site. If you're worried about your reputation being ruined by hanging out with the wrong type of MMORPG players, I'm afraid you killed that in Dec 2006.

And since somethingawful and pay forums were bought up, they too have a wow section with cheats, and last I checked it was pretty decent. Not as good as ours, but ya know, decent.

I don't cheat in games, I can't be bothered to cheat. Besides the EMO in me takes a wicked sense of "oh woe is me" satisfaction running around as a level 50-something mage in shitty greens 30 levels lower. I've even dressed my avatar in whites ( vender crap ) and turned up to a raid, to see the befuddled reaction of the uber cool-kids at my "l33t non-stat" gear. :D

Besides if we ever wipe, I can blame my crap gear to cover my itchy agro-attracting trigger finger.

i've never even heard of redguides before about 37 seconds ago, but ripperjack should just know there's always been top secret forums that he's never had access to. we made threads about RJ and how dreamy he was all the time (well. once or twice, anyway).

This also caught me unaware and I'm hoping this will be for the best, will get me checking the site again until i can see if it's gonna bring back the fun and excitement of the old Redguides.

Well, for those that don't know who I am, I will introduce myself. If you don't care who I am, then don't read this post. :)

I am a 34 year old disaster recovery specialist and UNIX script writer with over 20 years of coding/hacking experience, 8 years of MMO experience, and 3 years of WoW experience. I came to RedGuides in 2006, and was given the chance to be moderator here by RedBema.

Based on the structure of RedGuides, my post count was low because I strongly believe in quality over substance in forum posts, which in turn, led me to keep a low-profile while still being an active member of RG. I also believe in typing in clear english and complete sentences, which may annoy some people, and delight others.

I am also an active member of the forums on isxmods.net, isxwow.com, and mmowned.com, and have administrated two WoW-guild forums over the past two years.

I'm also pretty long-winded and open about myself, so I will stop this post short. If there's anything else you want/need to know, feel free to ask!

We're aware of this issue and formulating a response that should take care of things. We've talked to a few sponsors, and we're reimagining the site.

Considering Redguides is closed, I can't. However, you can search through the WoW Forums to find any of the strategies or guides I have posted that made it over.

Yeah, searched your profile (Which saved all posts you even made on RG before merge) and failed to see any Quality post /useful post except the Hunter honor grind guide which you made before RG, thats why I wonder.. But never mind me, I just like to hook up on some words :p

Haha great picture, but I was actually referencing Skeptic, Scourge of Auraxis, and Grammar Nazi of Redguides. He's been gone for too long :( Same with Willie and Creed (I think)

I am confused. What is the history behind this merger? What will happen to those who had RG lifetime memberships and should we use the same user names here? Merge accounts or what?

As far as I know there are no (or very very few) "RG lifetime memberships" and the merge have happened so just use the account you are on =)

There are very few RG Lifetime memberships, but there are a few. For those of you with them, they should have transfered when we merged, and your RG account information should be the same on NA.

If there are any problems, send me a PM, or post in one of the threads concerning missing forum access.
