Tomorrow we will be activating a new option on the EQ2 launchpad that asks whether you will allow us to examine your computer's hardware profile and collect data on the systems people use to play our game. This is entirely optional, and if you decline to do it you won't be bothered about it again (although you can enable it later by checking the box under Download Options).
The information collected will be stored anonymously. We aren't going to link a hardware profile to your Station account or keep a record that says "Joe R. Subscriber has a P4 3.2ghz, 1 gig RAM" etc. Nor are we scanning for files on your hard drive or anything that would give us personal information about you. This is an anonymous hardware profile only, to better help us support the hardware our subscribers use to play EQ2.
