Hi everyone, I thought I'd share the path I use to powerlevel, when PLing 1-3 toons. The basic premise of this works when you already have several established accounts, and maybe like me, are wanting to add more chars to your existing accounts for more flexible groups or just for fun! OK lets start this ball rolling.

Level 1 to 10 - Easy Mode

Req's: Druid/Wizard with Teleport to bind

First you need to run your druid to Icefall Glacier and bind at the location on the map shown below with the red arrow:
icefall.png

On the floor you will a stone, what you need to do is teleport your toons you want to start to be PL'd to this location and pick up the stone, BEWARE: The wolves near you will agro, so kill them before you unvis your level 1 toons or you'll be on res duty...

Now all your toons should have picked up an item called Shattered Krithgor Keystone take this to Librarian Hemfar (can be found using CTRL-F) in Crescent Reach, you simply hand this in and BOOM! level 10+

Level 10-56

Req's: Shadowknight level 85 (you can use other toons, and higher level's, but there can be some issues, but I'm sure you'll work them out), Bard same level as the toons to be PL'd, so level 10ish, Hatchery macro

Now we need to take our new toons, with the bard mentioned above in the req's, and we're going to run the macro the HATCHERY follow the instruction's provided for the macro, if your having issues with the spells, read the discussion part of the macro listing and you'll see a few posts by me that go over ways to fix the issues.

Tips and Tricks, I will run my silver heroic SK with the level 1 journeyman merc set on efficient, I find that this gives my SK more survivabilty as the instance levels up, so bear this in mind as it will restrict the number of toons you can PL to just 4, I personally don't afk this as sometimes the bard can die once the mobs get higher level and do AoE spells. It's also useful once the instance levels up to throw an additional Damage Shield on your SK. Also don't forget to take your newly levelled bard and spend all your skill points on the skill needed to cast the AoE dmg spell.

Level 56-80

Req's: Three level 85 heroic toons, I personally use a Cleric, Berserker and Shadowknight that I keep on some old silver accounts from way back when. Useful to always have a few kicking around if they ever give out a few more free heroic chars :)

Now we're going to travel to Fungal Forest, part of the Underfoot expansion, you'll want to initially just get your three level 85 toons there, place a campfire then use your fellowship clickies to get your three toons that are to be PL'd teleported there, when I normally initially set this up I'll actually run my 110 mage there and summon the three 85's over just to make it easy, the location in Fungal Forest is below:

fungal.jpg

Simple camp, setup your macro's on your three heroic chars and just pull away till you hit 80 on your new toons!

Level 80 to 106

Req's: Three 110 chars, I personally use either a Rogue/Berserker/Ranger (for the ability to do MASSIVE strikes), Cleric and a Tank

For the next part I go to Frontier Mountains, due to the size of the zone and placement of mobs I won't give an exact spot, but there are several where you can find massive amounts of goblins or sarnaks and just set up a slaughter factory, it's extremely easy mode and the XP is nice and fast, group everyone together, kick off your macros grab a book and chill, it will take awhile but soon you'll be 106.

Level 106+ Bonus stuff

At 106, assuming you have the Ring of Scale expansion, you can now equip Conflagrant gear, and it's at this point I'll completely gear out my new toons so they can actually take part in the fun! To hit 110 there are several different spots you can go to, but I highly recommend using the Prince's room in EoK Chardok, xp is amazing, and for your 110 toons AA xp is totally sweet!!! It does require a fairly balanced group, and I'd recommend a mezzer of some description, but as long as you have ar least 1 Rogue/Berserker in the group all the mobs, including names that spawn in the room die with ease, and if you sit in the right spot in the middle of the room, but slightly towards the doorway, you won't get agro from anything around you.

Any questions feel free to PM me or leave a post!

Good Hunting

VorpalChicken

Droga is also good for 80+
Pwr leveling my new berzerker there to compliment my current and it's a slaughter house.

So far 85-100 in 12 hours.

1552300622235.png

nice, I use Droga as well, I just find the spot in Chardok really good as it's remote and abit off the beaten track so you don't tend so see many if any people

if you want massive amount of fast spawning mobs, that people dont wanna fight and only does so cause of eok progression which might not be an issue currently, spider caves in lceanium severely good exp

Spiders are good exp if you can't do a T2 EoK zone, but they do snare. If you have trouble with T2 then the snare could cause you issues and I'd recommend Yeti's. They don't spawn as fast as the spiders do, but are just as good exp. Was there with my group for a bit and provided a large enough camp size you can pullertank it fairly easily without worry of snare.

Yeah basically what Chat said, there are plenty of spots in those zones, and we all have personal favourites though that we'd rather not share

Thanks for this Guide, VorpalChicken!

I’m in the process of levelling a new team and I had actually thought both the hatchery and icefall tactics had been fixed, glad to see they haven’t - managed to do some levelling this morning while I was preparing for work which was great.

I only have one higher level toon on the server where I’m doing my new crew - so the PLing with heroics and 110s after hatchery will be a no no, but I’m sure I can figure out a way to go higher eventually 😃

if you don't have a super team to help PLing, but can use the hatchery to get a good boost it's all sweet, just make sure you take a little time with your casters and use the super sweet CSkillup macro that Maskoi wrote, can't recommend it enough to get your skills up

I was looking forward to testing this.

And i'm very disappointed.

First step works fine, gets toons to 12.
Then Hatchery. no.
On 3 runs completed, i got XP for 5 mobs. TOTAL. they resist Chords of Dissonance too much.

Had to tweak the Hatchery mac too, but that was not that bad.

I'm wondering now if i should try with a Mage AOE or with Oil of Fennin Ro, but so far, at 12, this PLing method isn't working that good.

How many times did you actually cast chords? At the early levels you need to cast it a bunch of times before it sticks.

Oil casting will be worse on resists and cost more plat.

I also found this, but it was only ever a problem from level 12-15/16. Just let the macro run out and be patient, once you hit about 16, you will level up very fast.

The mobs in the level 12 instance are around level 23, so high resists at first!

Well since it's a song, i casted once :)

but it was resisted up to the point where : mobs die on DS / mobs attack the bard (briefly, didn't die, but still )

Yeah, then i'll add a little trip to PC before doing the hatchery, if i start later it'll be better, i guess.

Need to let it pulse for a bit before killing

If aggro is an issue, need to get moar aggro on tank, Can't just scoop up mobs, run them to the entrance and then run a lowbie into the crowd and fire off stuff without first doing some AoE taunt/aggro spells and expect it to go well every time for sure.

Resists happen, just got to keep at it until you hit a fair amount of mobs to justify the trip.

Happy hunting.

Since you're using a bard which is not an evil race, you can just PL using REDWINE trick in Freeport. You can get level 16 easy and cost around 3000pp. Once at 16 just head back to Hatchery which will be a breeze. Mind you, once your toons hit around lvl 50, Your 85 heroic SK will start getting damaged from mobs and prolly will die. Your option is to use a merc (your PLee's will be 4 in this case) or you can just switch SK with a lvl 110 and keep 5 PLee's.

Even with multiple Disgust, bard sometimes took aggro, resists can have this effect.

As for the rest, i'm using my 110 sk, that's why i had to tweak the macro ^^

For information, for "Hatching a plan" to start level up, you need your group to be level 30 ( and it will level up each 10 levels ).
Before that, instance is still level 23.
And to avoir resist, i use throw stone ( with a melee character ) until level 18 on my bard.
And for better result; a sk with a honed wurmslayer in duck mode to avoid any ripost and damage taken :)

For what it's worth, i just did a cheap version of the Level 1 to 10 - Easy Mode part. All you need is a wizard that can TP to icefall (no AA required).

Group you PLee(s) with the wizard, and port to Icefall. Invis the whole party and run to the ground item. There you can park the Wiz out of aggro range, cast a translocate of your choice on the PLee, who then grabs the item and accept the TL before aggro kicks in.

I have been able to get a couple levels in one hatchery run at level 16. But if the instance stays at lvl 23 until 30, level 23 to 30 promised to be extremelly tedious. It must be decent exp still as there was a guy yesterday PLing a group there...

Hatchery is still surprisingly good xp and pretty fast, even today I still use it to get easily get my toons from around level 10 to 55+ to be able to get into a group with my Heroic PL squad

You can also pick up the item with the level one, then let the mobs kill Them - free port to crescent reach.

Reposting this from another thread I posted

Getting a Temp for you and your merc and purchasing DS pots in the Baz after you do this quest from Vorpal Chickens guide :

Level 1 to 12 - Easy Mode
Req's: Druid/Wizard (Alternate way is to bind the caster close to the rock and TP to bind toons directly there, just make sure they have invis on )

Make sure you get a levi / perfect invis from wizzy /druid and TL to glacier falls. Druid spell I think is 1 zone over. Picking up the rock will not break invis.

Also I just attack one of the wolves after I get the rock for a free port back to CR

How does one get to the Fungal Forest? I tried and could not zone in. I'm having trouble finding a guide to get there because no one uses this place (thus making it great!).

I was reading this thread and also had similar question come to mind, as i dont know the Underfoot expansion.

In game i used the zone guide to help give an answer.
Fungalforest00.png

Noted that there is an entry for Brell's Rest. The Druids and Wizards have level 80 spell to port groups there.
The notes for the Guild Hall also mention for the portal, Unrefined Brellium Ore used to set the destination to Brell's Rest.

I dont know if there is a better route.

From @VorpalChicken notes about the 56 to 80 levelling (Mar '19)
Paraphrased synopsis is to run an exp grind group in Fungal Forest, made of 3x heroic level 85s (tank, heal, dps) and the toons being PL'd.

I have been reading from Allakhazam website (Jan '21) and this is what it says of Fungal Forest:
Fungalforest01.png

That last paragraph, reference to levels and progression.
This lead onto the following:
Fungalforest02.png

The questions coming to mind
  • Is Allakhazam out of date?
  • Can late 50s zone into there now (Jan '21) ?
  • Can regular 85+ who havent done progression, run from Brells Rest, to Underquarry and into Fungal Forest, or is it gifted from heroic?

Allakhazam information came from the following links.
https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/zones.html?zstrat=712
https://everquest.allakhazam.com/wiki/eq:Progression_Through_Underfoot

Regards and Best Wishes

An open question for our community.

Are there other zone location suggestions for the PL 56-80 range?
(keeping stragegy similar as VorpalChicken suggested of 85+ tank, heal and dps; grinding the exp for 1 - 3 late 50s toons).

I've had chars in Fungal forest recently, the last time I ever did any flagging for Underfoot was when it was current content, infact I know the chars I've had through recently have never done any of the Underfoot content, and yeah Alla's is way out of date on alot of stuff these days

  1. Hatchery 1 - 75
  2. Fungal Forest 75-85
    • No requirement for zoning in, super great zone for this.
    • Did this with two lvl 97's I had sitting around on different accounts, since I could not group with my 115's yet
    • I had a 115 shaman sitting outside group, with each character in main group on Extended Target Window
      • You can set MQ2Shaman to UseXTargetHealing and UseXTargetBuffing
      • All the benefits of having a shaman but without sucking xp.
      • Used this same technique in Droga later.
  3. Droga 85-106
    • Plenty of locations for mass mob pulling, was very fast xp.
    • Put in the group with my 115s they will be joining once max level and all went smooth.
    • A death every now and again when the alts were low in here but the xp gained vastly makes up for it
Thanks everyone for the tips in this thread!

Edit: I ended up just using Droga to 110, was slower those last few levels but easy mode.

So I would add to his my spot is Korsha labs my spot has 10 phs for 4 different rares, 115 box crew pling 85 heroic. It's very fast and the rares are a very nice bonus to xp. 85-98 takes 3 ish hours u might get more mileage than I do. Sometimes if I'm lucky i'll get a run of rares and that's what your after with this camp. There are a few camps in this zone like this and I see other people there often so do not afk there. Thats not a problem for me I just really never afk when I play. I would suggest whatever eok t2 zone u pick to find a spot with regular rare spawn meaning more than a few different ph's the rares give excellent xp.

Shattered Krithgor Keystone hand in, in Crescent Reach
I know this is an old post but I just did it for the first time this year. And now the experience has been nerfed into the ground, sheesh. You can only get to lvl 3 now not 10-12 like before. Why do they have to nerf the good stuff? Wasn't hurting anyone, and been like this for years, as you can see from the date of the OP here.

This was working during the bonus week because my toons got boosted to level 17. Could have been nerfed with the launch of the expansion.

Since someone Necro'd the post, thought I would share a couple ideas.
my PL sessions are different that those listed above. I have what I call a 'ladder' of toons on an account to help with PL of toons. starting at level 45 and going up from there, there is always a toon in the ladder that is half+1 to group with that will crush the content of the toon to be PL'd. This has the added advantage of actually *using* the toon to be PL'ed so the skills are being used, and not being a level 100 with zero skills gained :(
somewhat slower than a swarm kill type PL session, but I am not in a hurry.

Yeah I used to have something similar to this as well

I use my SK until 70ish, then I have a few toons at different levels to get them to 90 when they can group with the big kids. The "ladder" concept is likely to become more and more necessary as the max level continues to increase.
