Just as a reference for those who might not have seen it : https://www.redguides.com/community...xpect+on+patch+days?&c[users]=Sic&o=relevance
Sic has posted many times already about this both in live and test server. The only thing I see was that you missed the actual eq patch had happened and it stated it on the launcher. As well you can also check it on the main page (typically within about 24 hours for those running the website to update the status of the patch). I was just making the comment because of how many times I have seen Sic's post of the same thing repeatedly that people are missing when it is a patch that we have to be patient for the developers to actually update it.

To the ops credit it looks like he's a new hire getting close to probationary status. He signed up 12/23.
And granted that's a few months but as a new person it can be quite overwhelming when trying to find some things with out asking and being pointed in that direction.

Very true. For what it was worth I wasn't trying to come off as being rude or upset at him (not sure if it came across that way) more was just trying to make a joke about how many times Sic has posted it that we need some kind of automation for it.

Anyone else getting problems with all spells/buffs/etc coming back as unable to find. I did no change to my ini and loaded it up on 2 different characters and getting Could not find the spell / aa / combat ability / etc after this latest update to the test server by redbot?

Brainiac is aware and working on it.

so lets say someone took a break for a few months after being bludgeoned by the ban hammers and is fixing to come back but the test build is down, is the average turnaround still 2-5 days? shorter ? longer?

It depends. This was an extra non regular patch, usually just takes a few days.

so know i know the build is down and that's all fine and dandy but can we get an update beyond this furry doing fortnite dances lol. not usually one to ask and i know how much work goes into all of this but any info would be greatly appreciate on a new build coming forward ... as always thanks to the best boxing community in eq !!!!

I think the three above say all that needs to be said my dude. I split my time between multiple servers or do other things, personally.

If I was tracking brain like that one dude was tracking elon musk's planes, I'd say the last few months are roughly "the friday or the monday after a patch". Easy enough to check the posts here because RG releases almost immediately after.

Just to hold you over....

Just to be clear, this is not me... I stole it from the internet.

Every time I see a notification that this thread is updated I get excited to log my team back in, but alas it's just a dancing furry 😔

Decided to fire up a group on Test. Having all access on all of them and the availability of gear was really enticing. I am finding that MQ2 is unavailable for quite a long period of time every patch. It seems that this would be great if a person only wants to play 1/2 of the month. Is it always this slow to update or has there been an issue of late?

What to expect on patch days?
When eq patches MQ has to be rebuilt. (you also have to patch EQ --- this way you avoid "Version Mismatch" issues)

once mq is built RG can build - we now have an automated system that rebuilds RG as soon as it is updated - which means our previous method of "let's give it a quick test" is no longer there, and sometimes there ends up being another smaller patch later to correct if something got missed - so re-check on patch days if you are having issues.

eq could change literally anything and it would require the way MQ interacts with that portion of EQ to be completely reworked. It is normally just offsets, sometimes struct changes --- with the large changes eq has been making over the past few months (updates and backend improvements) there are more things than just offset changes that are happening, so it can certainly be a lot of work for the devs.

Curious when Very Vanilla will be updated?
You'll get a web notification (if we have permission), site notification, and email (optional)

MacroQuest for Live servers:
MacroQuest for Test server

EQ patches go like this: (in theory)
2nd* tue/wed = test "real" patch
3rd* wed = live patch
4th* tue/wed = test "true up

the tue over the wed is a more recent thing (I suspect klanderso has more to do with that, and having time to ensure working stuff before the weekend and upset people - klanderso is pretty awesome)
* holidays subject to cause shifts in days or even week

test is notorious for being like "oops we forgot the 'dont crash plz' file, gotta patch again", or "woops we added +1 to crashing, we meant -1", so "on paper" it is double the patches, but very frequently ends up being more than double the work (i imagine, I'm not doing the work - I'd love to learn enough at some point to help facilitate doing so, however)

Mq itself is open source and by volunteer(s) - RG which builds and distributes that is obviously paid for.

I merged your post into the test build thread, since it is about the test build. You should give it a read.

Frankly, dbg doesn't treat the test server all that great, and frequently ends up waiting until after things are fixed on live before full game breaking issues are resolved.

For me, it is a decent place to try something out, or mess around if I just want to do something for a short while, but it isn't a place I'd want to be my "daily driver", mq build aside

The post I made about three posts above after yours was moved here can summarize it fairly well.
Expect 60-70% uptime with MQ when people have time and are so inclined to put the work in. If that is a dealbreaker, look into other options. I just play around on multiple servers and enjoy the flexibility of spinning up different random groups without spending hundreds of dollars a month (or worrying about rotating krono)/etc.
If I'm hankering for EQ when MQ test is down I do non-MQ on whatever set I'm working on, or I play around on live (usually perfecting my attunable testcopy kit, lately).
Edited my made up percentages.

I think it's just a most cost-effective way for people to enjoy the game. They can run a full group without having to pay $90/m or $240 for the latest expansions.

Uh, still need to buy expansions if you want to play past f2p availability.
Edit: A long, long time ago this was not the case.
