Very Vanilla MQ (Test Server)

Vanilla - Very Vanilla MQ (Test Server) (3 Viewers) 3.1.52472.1

No permission to download
Since the update my VeryVanilla won't load. Is it just me?

Test build is down, because of the test patch.

What to expect on patch days?
When eq patches MQ has to be rebuilt. (you also have to patch EQ --- this way you avoid "Version Mismatch" issues)

once mq is built RG can build - we now have an automated system that rebuilds RG as soon as it is updated - which means our previous method of "let's give it a quick test" is no longer there, and sometimes there ends up being another smaller patch later to correct if something got missed - so re-check on patch days if you are having issues.

eq could change literally anything and it would require the way MQ interacts with that portion of EQ to be completely reworked. It is normally just offsets, sometimes struct changes --- with the large changes eq has been making over the past few months (updates and backend improvements) there are more things than just offset changes that are happening, so it can certainly be a lot of work for the devs.

Curious when Very Vanilla will be updated?

MacroQuest for Test server

EQ patches go like this: (in theory)
2nd* tue/wed = test "real" patch
3rd* wed = live patch
4th* tue/wed = test "true up

the tue over the wed is a more recent thing (I suspect klanderso has more to do with that, and having time to ensure working stuff before the weekend and upset people - klanderso is pretty awesome)
* holidays subject to cause shifts in days or even week

test is notorious for being like "oops we forgot the 'dont crash plz' file, gotta patch again", or "woops we added +1 to crashing, we meant -1", so "on paper" it is double the patches, but very frequently ends up being more than double the work (i imagine, I'm not doing the work - I'd love to learn enough at some point to help facilitate doing so, however)

Mq itself is open source and by volunteer(s) - RG which builds and distributes that is obviously paid for.

I'm a dummy. Shouldn't have the forum open at the same time I'm trying to figure something out. 5 seconds of looking at my screen would have told me it's because it's out of date.

Wrong forum
I know that there is time with it out of date for the test server. its been that way for the last 2 days for me want to make sure i did not do some thing wrong is there any place to check its states? I know this is the price to pay for playing test just wondered if there is any information on the test states so i know wait time.

Might not be until this weekend according to one of the devs. It was an unexpected patch, and they have stuff going on in RL atm.

Easyist way to check is literally by either checking these forums on the right it'll say what's updated, or by the MQ launcher app, as that also will say Patch day if its not patched

I'm trying to download the latest version for the TEST server and i'm getting the Patch day-unavailable. How do I fix this, i'm trying to get it started up for the first time. Thanks

wait until they review and update for the patch that was pushed to test recently. Basically, try again in a few hours. Sometimes it can take a couple of days, depending on what they changed.

Ahh gotcha, thank you. Just thought maybe mine was broken or I did something wrong.

Hmm. Did I miss something or did MQ just get taken down or something?
I was online & running MQ just fine but then decided to reboot computer because its been running for a day.
And now I'm getting mismatch like its not updated?

a hotifx for some "dx11 fixes" was pushed through without bringing the server down, so if you play on test DO NOT run the DPG launcher. MQs autologin will bypass it for now so you can box to your hearts content. If you end up patching EQ you will not be able to run MQ on test

this has been a a PSA from yours truly

put on the patience pants and enjoy the test downtime folks! im sure the RG crew will have it back sooner than later! remember to tip your dev if you feel so inclined! looking forward to seeing the ice cream cone right side up again haha

as always cheers to the best boxing community in norrath

For those that don't realize it Test patched today and is down. The ice cream cone hasn't been switched to down yet, but if you are having problems with test we need to wait until they get the update for it pushed out. Just fyi for those that haven't realized yet

@qaldyari good prep. I'll copy what Sic usually posts and hopefully save him a little time...

I noticed a strange behaviour recently. If you right click on MQ in the system tray and select Exit, it removes the MQ icon from the system tray but macroquest.exe is still running. So, if you really want to terminate MQ, you need to do it from the task manager.

I already posted this in MQ Discord, so the developers are aware.

Test build, if you use the bazaar, and "buy" when you have a full mailbox, you crash to desktop. The purchase attempt does not happen. Dunno if it's test itself, or the mq build.
