Very Vanilla MQ (Test Server)

Vanilla - Very Vanilla MQ (Test Server) (3 Viewers) 3.1.52472.1

No permission to download
for some reason my launcher for macroquest - test says --- latestst version: 5/14/23 6:20:55PM | Last installed:4/27/23 8:46:26AM | Patch Day - unavailable
have not experienced this before as it will not let me updated it for some reason. Looks like it should be available or are they shutting down all the servers today for patch day? Thanks for any help and again, great program!

What to expect on patch days?
When eq patches MQ has to be rebuilt. (you also have to patch EQ --- this way you avoid "Version Mismatch" issues)

once mq is built RG can build - we now have an automated system that rebuilds RG as soon as it is updated - which means our previous method of "let's give it a quick test" is no longer there, and sometimes there ends up being another smaller patch later to correct if something got missed - so re-check on patch days if you are having issues.

eq could change literally anything and it would require the way MQ interacts with that portion of EQ to be completely reworked. It is normally just offsets, sometimes struct changes --- with the large changes eq has been making over the past few months (updates and backend improvements) there are more things than just offset changes that are happening, so it can certainly be a lot of work for the devs.

Curious when Very Vanilla will be updated?

MacroQuest for Live servers:
MacroQuest for Test server

EQ patches go like this: (in theory)
2nd* tue/wed = test "real" patch
3rd* wed = live patch
4th* tue/wed = test "true up

the tue over the wed is a more recent thing (I suspect klanderso has more to do with that, and having time to ensure working stuff before the weekend and upset people - klanderso is pretty awesome)
* holidays subject to cause shifts in days or even week

test is notorious for being like "oops we forgot the 'dont crash plz' file, gotta patch again", or "woops we added +1 to crashing, we meant -1", so "on paper" it is double the patches, but very frequently ends up being more than double the work (i imagine, I'm not doing the work - I'd love to learn enough at some point to help facilitate doing so, however)

Mq itself is open source and by volunteer(s) - RG which builds and distributes that is obviously paid for.

Test got repatched on the 15th to fix stuff with FTE. Just the way the world goes round when playing on this server

gotcha, i usually just play on test server on live patch days and this is the first time this has ever happened for me.

So basically we just can't play on patch day? Is MQ ever back up and running the same day as live patch is implemented?

So basically we just can't play on patch day? Is MQ ever back up and running the same day as live patch is implemented?

I've seen it happen from time to time. It boils down to what the MQ crew has to do. If it's something simple like just the offsets then it's up pretty fast. If it's all sorts of changes to the code then it takes longer. I've heard that "Tipping" the Dev's has a positive effect on these matters.

Yes, nearly always..sometimes just an hour to a few hours after the EQ patch. sometimes many hours, the guys here do what they can. If you are unaware, EQ is having a lot of issues due to the new UI.

Almost always for live - much of the time even before eq servers are back up. Often for test, but big changes require big updates.

You did read the response right? Sorry if there was confusion there

as an FYI:
Per Brainiac, test update is likely to not be until Sunday the 18th at the earliest

Test build is down. Or at least, the launcher says "Patch Day - Unavailable"
It will be down until the volunteer team of devs can get it updated.

Ah... wish I had the money to donate. Been playing on test since it's free to be gold lol. I guess there's a drawback there.

Test for EQ and MQ has its downsides. both are virtually offered for free.. you have to live with the ick =-/

a small price to pay for the quiet low population awesomeness known as test

Is there a patch for the test server on Redguides launcher ?
Mine say Patch day Unavailable. I have searched the forums but can not find a resolution.
