Very Vanilla MQ (Test Server)

Vanilla - Very Vanilla MQ (Test Server) (8 Viewers) 3.1.52472.1

No permission to download
Opened up those registries they do have the MQ files in them.

Where would I need to install the directX to? like into my EQ file? Don't think that is the problem but would rather try everything cause I have no idea what is the problem, tried it again yesterday and it still crashes when trying to move screens or resize, it did just close down when I went to click the square to make it big screen didn't give an error or crash report just closed the window down completely.
What do the registry entries say?

DirectX will handle itself on the install just "Next, Next, Next" except don't install the Bing Bar.

Application compatibility layers are the two registry keys here:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers

We check for MQ items in there (I think there's an option in the Tray util to check it) but drivers could be there as well. The directx 9.0c install brainiac is talking about is here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109

IS what I have in side the config files.

Also tested MQnext Live from the VV launchpad and it causes the crash as well so it is something hardware/software on my side now if I am thinking correctly. We can move this issue out of the NextTest to keep it applicable.

I would install directX in the default location that it wants to be installed in.

What type if video card are you running and have you updated the drivers lately? If you have updated and your having issues now, then re-install the previous version. If you have not tried updating your video drivers, its time you tried. YMMV, but hope this helps.

Regardless, I think this conversation should be moved out of this thread, I keep getting excited thinking the test version of Macroquest Next has been updated, LOL.

how long after a patch does this get updated?
they moved test to 64bit as of yesterday. so potentially a long time. much much much longer than anything we're seen in recent times

Here is some snippet info about the 64bit stuff

Yup, EQ is changing to 64bit. Yup MQ will require rework.
Here is the discussion thread:

Some info about it from brainiac (edited for clarity):
brainiac said:
the code for the 64bit client and the 32bit client is the same
the difference is the bitness
but the functions, structs, etc is all the same, just recompiled for a different architecture
one of the big diffs is likely going to be how detours work
since the ancient version that mq is using is only supported on 32bit and newer versions work on 64bit but are used very differently
so we're talking about a re-implementation of how we do detours in mq
If you're feeling inclined to show the MQ Devs your appreciation we have a way to tip them > HERE <

as of Jan 11th, 2021 the Test server is 64bit. Unfortunately, there is no ETA on when MQ will be available for that.

I'm going crazy here, not being able to play. For the last 4 days now, the launcher keeps saying "Patch Day - Unavailable" for the test server. Am I doing something wrong, or has it actually been down that long?

I believe it is indeed down... I think Test is full 64bit now, so have to wait till the 64bit version is released unfortunately.

yeah it may be down for a bit. (pun intended) but i know this dev team will pull through for all of us testers!!! in the meantime ive been working on individual stuff like TS and epics and clickies etc from older content. i am super pumped to try out the new version once its up and running on test ! cheers everyone

That's exactly what I've been doing as well.

Just wondering, what does "may be down for a bit" Look like. I play on test and love it, are you talking days, weeks, or months? Thanks.

As of right now we are unsure. I estimate about a month out at the earlyest. They need to rewrite the Entire code for 64bit clients

unfortunately, no eta is just that - no eta.

it could possibly be weeks or month(s)+

we don't know at this time

This has been down for a few days now and I am not sure where to go to check and see on the status of it. Is there a specific place to go to keep track of what is going on with that or at least an ETA?

Test is currently down because it is now being built as a 64-bit executable, which means MacroQuest needs a lot of work. Its a work in progress and is being worked on by mutliple people. It will be ready when its ready.

It is a MAJOR undertaking and part of the perks of playing on test there bud you get to test everything first lol.
*but on a side note you get to skip the suspensions lol

Just wanted too stop in and say, A HUGE THANKS!!! too all of the dev's working on the transition to 64 bit.. I can't even imagine how much work it is.. so THANK YOU!!!

i cant begin to understand how much, or even what is needed to be done to get MQ running on test at this moment. i play on test full-time and on behalf of anyone else in my boat I just want to say thanks to you and all the devs for your commitment and hard work. as others have said, test has a lot of perks. The downside can be a lot of downtime; lets put on our patience pants and wait =). hopefully soon its up and running which will than mean live is also in the clear when those servers switch also.

again much appreciation

I would like to clarify I am not attacking the MQ devs. Test has a lot of up and downs, and I was unaware of the amount of work that needs to be done to get MQ back up and functioning for it I appreciate everything MQ devs do on Live and Test, The benefits they bring to the EQ experience far outweighs the little bit of down time. I just was curious about if there was and ETA and if there was a forum or anything with updates on it. I didn't intend to come of as impatient of spiteful in this question. The plus side is I am getting to work on some live toons i have long neglected so I am not really losing my EQ fix.

My main characters are on Test and this outage has impacted me, but I have no need for a refund or extension. I knew it was going to be down for an extended time and stayed subscribed to RG and will continue to do so. Appreciate the gesture but for me it's not necessary.

Ditto!

Same, I may not be able to play my main teams on test.. but i can always start some new FTP teams on live.. SO until we get word that mq2 is no more for whatever reason.. i'll keep supporting all the hard work you all are putting into making this work..

You know, even tho I’m not affected by the current outrage, I gotta say that I’m beyond impressed with the efforts of everyone here that contributes to the migration to 64 bit (and to EVERYONE that creates scripts, in all of the different forms). I subscribed to RG for nearly 2 yrs before I even used a macro - and the, it was only Overseer for months! I’ve built up plenty of RC to not have to pay for a loooong time, but I’ll continue to subscribe with my annual dollar sub, hoping it is at least a modest way of saying thanks for this community.

Love this community and as I wait so ever impatiently for this 64-bit nightmare to end I am grateful for all the work and time that all the devs put in, which is why I support them when I can. I just hope this transition to a 64 bit EQ client is worth it at some point. <3
