What happened to them? Redguides used to have 3 or 4 versions of MQ2 compiles that would be done within hours of MQ2 source being released.. I paid for this site simply for the compiles.
Once upon a time long long ago there was a debate and it was good.
Precompiles good or bad for the MQ2 community.
Forum warriors waged war one direction and forums warriors waged war the other, you see Redguides was not about offering compiles but to be a community where others can share, you nor anyone else paid Redguides for compiles that was simply something users did for the community. And those that did it for the community were rewarded with free time and redcents when they came around.
Then the time of great hand biting occured, this was a sad time for all and some people stopped, then we were left with but a couple precompilers and their names were Tonka Trucks (Turkren...oh I can't say his name it's copyrighted, that's right) and he got a big head and eventually went completely ape shit restricting plugins because they aren't safe (If safe is a binary function, nothing is safe, stop breathing you I SEE YOU BREATHING! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH) then was trolled out into the cornfield and vanished.
Then certain forum warriors (Mods, Admins, and a couple really well trusted users (Thez and Odessa if I remember right, though Thez was the main effort of the project) created what was called Redquest to a compile to make sure that all users had access to a precompile.
Times were good, Hacking was fruitful, and everyone rejoiced!
Then monkbug became the new debate overshadowing weather precompiles were killing MQ2 community, for we all knew that something so dangerious spreading like wildfire would draw the ire of Sony, and one day known as Black April, it did. Sony implemented changes to their packet handling giving the message "You can mess with anything else but we draw the lines at packets". And so lo for a time, there was no warp or zone either as using such would set off the flags and increments of packet counters.
This was yet another sad time for Redguides, and would last for quite a while.
Then came Redguides 2.0 and a resurged effort towards warp, Siddin, Yammers and Jmo banged their heads tirelessly looking for ways around or ways to manipulate the packet problem to make it work, we could simply copy other peoples work but what is the challenge in that, having had the source code for different sites fixes we looked upon it and said "This works, but it can be done better" and so they went to work crafting MQ2addicts (While curiously leaving the source code for the other solution in as well? MQ2notaddicts.dll was left in but never used for anything for one release before Jmo realized his mistake)
Warping was back, Zoning was on the way and more work to be done! Around this time ZippZipp had helped put the finishing touches on MQ2addicts and gave the brunt of the information on how to fix Zone as well.
People came and went, hands that fed were bittin, but overall, everyone lived happily ever after.
And that's the story of why there are no multiple precompiles.
The end.
