Question - Using a tank merc as MA?

I pet tank with my 3 box (necro, bard, shaman). In some camps that are root and mez immune I find it much easier to use a tank merc to help pick up adds or multi-pulls. Since my pet tank is extremely slow to switch and build aggro. Is there a way, specifically in these camps, to designate a tank merc as MA for my shaman healing? Or should I be doing this a different way?

No problem pet tanking when I can mez and or root.

I think mercs cannot be MA (EQ restriction)

No problem pet tanking when I can mez and or root.

Set up your KA ini to have Class|War instead of MA. You can do a find/replace in the file to quickly swap them all and it should work fine.

Great idea! I can just make two inis. One for merc tanking and my regular.

If you don't have many conditions involving Main Assist and such, you might not even have to replace anything. Check out the KA docs at https://www.redguides.com/docs/projects/kissassist/ - should be enough if your shaman targets the merc and then start up

/mac kissassist assist

or

/mac kissassist [KissRole] [AssistsName] [AssistHealth%]

"Target your main assist and type "/mac kissassist" and kissassist will automatically use your current target as the assist and use the predefined role set in your .ini. Alternately, you can make specifications on startup"

I wasn't sure if it would work with a tank merc doing it that way. I switched everything to class/war and it works great. Maybe didnt even need to go through that though.
