Question - Use Mage pet for adds?

First off, thank you for an incredibly awesome program.
My question is this. I have a Mage in team, a Necro and Shaman. Necro is a PullerPetTank but sometimes he pulls 2 mobs. Is there a way to have the mage as crowd control for example all others stay on assist tank (Necro pet) and mage switches to add mobs with his pet and concentrates on add only?
I searched through the forums but nothing is really showing how to use the Mage as crowd control?

There is no setting to say "do off tank things when necessary." When you put a character in assist mode, it will assist the MA full time and attack their target only. You would need to manually control your mage to put the pet on an add. This would probably be done by pausing the macro so you have full control.

The real solution is to either have AE agro on your tank, have real CC characters like enchanter/bard to mez or choose zones where 2 mobs is not going to be a problem.

Ok. I do have a Enchanter but he is 5 levels to low to mezz the zone so trying to level him up atm. But thx for the response!

Many_Whelps is 100% correct in what he said. When your mage is in assist mode, it will revert back to whatever target you have currently. You could set up a macro to tell your mage to target the 2nd mob, send in the pet. But after a very short time, would revert back to the mob you are currently targeting. . I have found many times (but not all) that is enough to get the mob to focus on the pet instead of running wild.

You target 2nd mob, then hit a macro something like this:
/dex MageName /assist You
/dex MageName /pet attack

Tells the mage to assist you on your current target, and to send pet to 2nd target.
Personally, having a real CC toon is always a good idea. I have two. My Bard is my MA and puller, and I have a pocket Chanter in group for aDPS as well as added CC if needed.

I find that sometimes the pets keep disengaging..

I only started using MQ yesterday so probably some setting im missing, anybody have any idea?

sorry, but what did i post wrong here, the OP asked about using mage pets to off tank, i made a relevant post ( that my mage pets sometimes go into a disengage mode)

ahh i see, sorry kind of went on my own tangent a little bit (still getting my head around everything) didn't really realise the different modes (pluggins v kissassit for example) were different sub communities (sort of)
