This is more or less a "strange little bug" with the game. I can't think of any extreme good use for it unless you happen to find a good spot where you can get this to work, and it's near a place where you want to fight underwater. Well, that being said, this is how it works:
While swimming...
1) look for a crack or a slant going into a slant swim into the middle and keep swimming into it. (the ground should merge into a "V")
2)Your breath bar will go away for a sec and then when it comes back it will reset your breath.
I've gotten this to work sometimes, but not all the time. It depends on if you can squeeze through or not, really.
