OK, so I never capped out any trade skills in everquest. and I have been playing on and off since Kunark. I want to start maxing out a toon in trade skills mainly to gear up my main tank in T3 TBL gear. My question and/or request is what would be the best route to take in trade skills to get my warrior in T3 craft gear. Do I just start in smithing and go from there or is there a certain path to follow.
also, can one toon max out all trade skills?

Bring lots o plat and pray.......

For T3 stuff you need tailoring and smithing

First... get your trophy quests while your skill is low
http://www.eqtraders.com/articles/article_page.php?article=q224&menustr=120058000000

Smith path
I did lots of studs and barbs - just need ore and a smithy hammer
This can get you to 282 but its alot of farming or baz watching
Plate bracers will get you to 300

Tailoring
Silk or leather wristband templates will get you to 300
fine - 272
immaculate - 488

I hit shards landing and killed doggies for leather pelts until i saw them in my sleep
also in shards landing in the arena kill anything that moves for silk and ore drops - mobs there also drop Fragment of Legendary Alaran History for leveling The Tears of Alaris (http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=100107)

here is the guide on eqtraders - its old but will work as well

Those instant respawn mobs in Deadhill uncommonly drop Ethermere Essene, which is the universal drop component across all skills. I get roughly 400 per day with 4 FTP silver toons at 4 different spawns, you need 1000-1500 to max each trade skill. You should be able to have enough mats to max core 5 trade skills (Smith, pot, tailor, Fletch and research) in a month.

If you have a forager you can farm Essences as well. I left Wood Elf druid and ranger afk in ETWK for days and they scrounged up about 200 Essences a day. Got my warrior to 300 in research thanks to the Guidestone mac.

On the way to the tower of rot there are many camps where the mobs instantly respawn, there’s various posts on RG with more specific locations if you search for dead hills!

What instant respawn mobs?

Most the mobs above the click-up on the way to tower of rot are almost insta-spawn. They're not quite instant, but close enough.

Here is how I did all my EoK armors with my skills being pretty low....

I looked at the recipes for each of the items I wanted to make.

Gathered them by farming or buying in Bazaar (Caster gear and tank gear... you really only need enough to make one item so don't buy "extra" components)

Go to the DB store and look for the potion Draught of the Craftsman. The effect is "Increases your chance to salvage tradeskill components by 100%".

It is 2500 DB. I know its 2500db, but the time, item farming or buying, skilling up is WAY more than what the potion costs.

1 -Put all TS items into bags and go to the loom, forge (or whatever crafting station you need to use)
2 - Drink the potion (2 hr duration) and start crafting.
3 - Since you never made the item you need to do the combines manually
4 - two things happen, you get skill ups as you attempt to craft, on each "fail" you get all the components back so you can try again.
5- eventually you will craft the item you wanted to make.

The best practice is just to get everything ready so when you get to crafting, maximize the use of the potion.

Happy crafting!

And a best practice of this best practice is to gather up a bunch of TS components for really really high trivial level combines for other skills you may want to skill up, too. This is relevant because once you make all the gear you want using the TS potion you're most likely going to have a bunch of leftover time on your 2 hour (or 3 hour, I forget) potion. Take advantage of that by working on your other TS's.

also make sure you have the salvage AA's that helps also and if getting to 300 do not get the first 3 levels of the tradeskill aa, like blacksmithing mastery. the first 3 levels reduce the failure rate and for the craftsman potion to be valid and cut costs you need to fail alot, since with the potion and aa salvage you return 100% of items used on a fail. If going past 300 you will need the mastery AA's and to learn 80% of all recipes for that tradeskill (some require more some require less). But you level it the same way, pick a high trivial combine and buy enough to make atleast 15 or so (providing your RNG based luck) and try to make the combine like you did pre 300 with the potion and salvage aa's you are hoping to fail as many combines as possible to get all your items back

This is awsome
Thanks a bunch for info

ok, TS question.

I see that my blacksmith and tailoring skill is caped out at 350, how am I supposed to get like a 510 trival on items.
I am trying to make Beneficent Harmonious Transmogrifant Patch, but it wont let me. it tells me I just plain out lack the skill and I get no skill ups even when I try to make it. EQtrader says (Smithing: Yield 1, trivial 255). My blacksmith skill is at 247. Any ideas? or do I need to be at 255?

You have to get over 300 in either blacksmithing or tailoring to do the final combine for the patches. It might be slightly lower but it wouldn't let me do it at 268 but it worked at 300 so it's somewhere in between.

Is there any preferred Mac anyone uses for tradeskills? I am going to start with Fletching, but want to get them all anyways. I looked tradeskill.mac but saw some people say it does not function. Any help is appreciated, so I dont have to click so much. Thank you.

Anymore, everyone just buys the materials they need and then uses combine.mac
