Merry Christmas Red Guidians!

So, Im thinking out loud here when it comes to strategy. I usually keep just my tank subbed and the rest of my group F2P.

Im thinking about taking advantage of the upcoming 30% off sale, end subbing my whole crew before I buy expacs for all. I have 110 War, 110 SHM, 110 MNK, 102 CLR, 102 ENC, and 102 MAG.

My goal moving forward would be to get everyone as many aas as possible in that month, then lvl everyone to 115.

Would it be best to keep everyone at their current levels? I would imagine this is the best strat because the lower the level - the easier it is to gain aas. I was thinking about doing this in a RoS zone possibly.

Please let me know if this is the most efficient/effective strategy for maximizing aa gain over 30 days. Maybe I’m overlooking something.

PS War is max aa, SHM has 23k, MNK has 21k, and my Enc, Mag and CLR have 0 aas at the moment. I’ve been leveling them up, waiting on a sub to auto grant.

thanks in advance!

@wymranar you say it is easier to gain AAs at lower levels? I thought the opposite was true?
If you put 100% xp into AAs killing a mob that is the same level as you gives you most of an AA.

At level 105 it is about 3 kills per AA.

Maybe I am missing something.

Would someone clarify this por favor?? I guess I’m confused as well. I know the less aa’s you have, the easier they are to gain.

I guess my thinking was like this: if my alt is 102 in RoS and he’s killing mobs that are red cons to him, then that would = more experience, which translated to more aas, with everything being equal. Because at 110 he would be getting less experience for kill, which would mean less aa experience. Right?

The amount of AAXP you get is based on the con color of the mob. So when you kill a mob that cons yellow, you get XX% AAXP. If you level up such that that mob goes white con, you get a little less then XX and if it goes blue you get even less. I *think* light blue cons have an additional -50% penalty applied to their AAXP. So the saying that "the lower the level, the easier it is" is maybe technically correct in that if you increase level, but still fight the same mobs in the same zones, you will get less AAXP per kill. But maybe you can kill faster and the rate per hour scales differently.... There's a lot of other factors and it's very dependent on your situation.

At the same time, higher level mobs, and mobs in later expansions have a higher base AAXP percentage gain per kill. So killing yellow cons at 115 should be more AAXP per kill than killing yellow cons at 110. Also, everyone in the group gains AAXP based on the level of the highest character in the group, not their own level. So in your example, the 102s are gaining xp as though they were 110, because your highest toon is 110. So if anything, you should level up the 102s and hold back your 110s. This is not the case for level xp, only AAXP.

@SA_krycek I thought it was Green cons that got a penalty, but light blues were the normal exp? The page that I read was probably super old. Maybe that is why I am leveling so slowly.

I thought a white con mob just gave more XP than a blue mob, but at 110 or 115 more total XP was required.

In my experience with all my toons at 110, 1 month was enough with auto grant to max the class and archetype tabs in ROS. 2 months you could finish the special and necessary general AAs. Level didn’t matter. Higher level means faster kills for me. So ROS was better than FM when they were 110. I kill between 14-24 seconds per yellow mob in Gorowyn.

My point is after 110, 2 months of reasonably solid play time maxed my toons on AA. I used Krono for the non-melee. My gold subs are my Tank, Wizard and Cleric now. Dunno why I Gold the cleric and wizard. Just not necessary now either. Tank should be my only gold.

I run casters, SK, Cleric, Enc, 3 x Wiz. Swap a Druid every now and then with a wizard for variety.

Thanks everyone! That definitely answered my question, and I learned a few things.
