Question - Strategy for Agnarr start?

Hello,

This will be my first time going straight into a new server, right at launch. Does anyone have hints or tips?

I'm going to dual box, I was thinking of 2 possible combinations, either a tank + shaman, or enc + druid. I also considered the possibility of a mage + something

Ideally, I'll have to get them to start in the same area, but I'm expecting low level areas to be overrun with too many people.

dont do it!!!

there launching it just as cooling season start sooo i am going to act like it doesnt exist..

no I have nothing useful to add just felt like babbling on this morning...

Depends on class. Sell your start robe. Buy a spell up to level 4. Suicide to get to noob area. Suicide if you dont have a pet the first 5ish levels to restore mana/hp. Buy a 40 slot bag now and keep it in /claim window until agnarr launches then claim it. Sk/Sham is popular.

I've pretty much decided to move to Agnarr... or to a live server... I have heroics on all my accounts, I believe.

Just not feeling Ragefire right now.

Sounds like a plan, I imagine all the noob zones will be very chaotic.

The bag is a good idea, hadn't really thought of that.

SK/sham was one of my thoughts, just wasn't sure how they did before AA's in Luclin

Some cultural NPCs (If they exist at launch, tho i doubt it) will give you free tailoring kit, use it. Pick a late our to get through your level 5, you don't have to compete first 5 levels at launch. I would pick an ogre warrior > any knight, remember server stops at LDoN and frontal stuns will exist. Shaman healing rocks at and after PoP, that might be a good choice especially if they still grant them the 90pct rez spell.

Will you be able to buy things with DB cash? Xp pots? Bags? Defiant?

I was curious about warriors myself, especially if they got weapon stances, but those didn't come around until level 85 via AA.

However, there is the option of an Ogre SK/Troll shm, which would be a very viable combo.. especially with no xp penalties. Level in the swamp, upper/lower guk, access to EC fairly handy.

As far as the rez spell goes, I believe that is a level 69 spell on live, which means they will never unlock on Agnarr.

I believe they posted somewhere that there will be a limited item shop, so maybe bags, xp pots, etc. But Definitely not Defiant, as that is way out of era for the timeline of the server. Even the lowest version of defiant blows most classic leveling gear out of the water, and rivals even some velious quested armor.

Yeah. They did say there would be a limited item shop. The real question is if limited compared to phinny classic or limited compared to live. The 4 hour potions for 90sc that need to be recast at certain levels (every 5 lvls early) is a nice boost. Most groups will be running with 25% xp potions. I would suggest testing out the levelling path before agnarr on a live server with a merc to find what camps you like most. On agnarr some groups will be going 40-50 hours with no sleep to hit 50. Make sure you dont worry about those guys too much and just do you.

Its going to be VERY interesting to see what they do with memorial day Fri-Monday. On ragefire they didnt allow double xp for it because it was so close to launch. Phin started 2 weeks before Christmas though so there was a ton of double xp after about 7-12 days. Memorial day last year was actually extra Xp too but no server started just before it.

I am curious to see as well. I've never been around for a proper TLP launch. All the current ones were in existence before I started really playing again.

Unfortunately for me, I work weekends and most holidays. Even though I'm in Europe, we still have a bunch of bank holiday weekends, often they end up being different to the US holidays, but not always.

It'll be MQ2 free. The MQ2 devs stated something about not letting MQ2 work with the progression servers.

While it'll be almost certainly MQ2-free, you can use ShowEQ for map functionality (it's a standalone that just takes an update to offsets each time they patch). I found that on Phinny ShowEQ gave me 90% of what I needed/missed most about MQ2 anyway.

It's not all TLP servers. Phinigal and Agnarr run the truebox code, which makes them different to the likes of Ragefire/Lockjaw

I might have to look in to ShowEQ and see how it works. The map is definitely a good thing to have in the old bag of tricks.

What is going to be the best class to start out with on Agnarr?
I'm thinking chanter or maybe Troll SK or will there even be Trolls ?
I started originally just after Ruins of Kunark and I started as a Ranger.. all I knew was Ranger and Druid for a long time as my GF was a Druid.
After a few months I discovered the Chanter class and never looked back.
As a chanter I would probably be solo till Breeze at least.

Just rattling off some thoughts on classes from my memory back then...

Rogues were king of dps well into GoD so you won't have trouble finding a group as a rogue, plus its super easy to get around since you can hide/sneak.

Druids solo pretty well and can make plat porting (assuming they wont have guild halls?) I don't know much about TLPs but Agnarr seems kind of interesting.

Mage are nice but meh, that was the first toon I ever made in 99 and it wasn't always easy getting a group back then.

War are far and away the best tanks, SK and Pal are fun and have utility too but can't tank like war can.

Necro have pretty much always been the same. They solo and do it well.

Enc are great and everyone wants one in a group.

Wiz are always useful as well, dps was strong into PoP.

Shm are fun and can solo pretty well if you know the class, great heals and buffs.

Clr are the same, but you will have to eventually become a CH bot.

Rng are fun but you know we all formed those ranger jokes from those xpacs so...

Will they start with bst? They shouldn't until Luclin but who knows. They rock in the early stages.

Monks were great dps and half tanks, groups love em to pull.

Bards are the same, tough in the early levels but always useful and fun.

I'll most likely start a monk or rogue! They were a blast to play and their epics are really fun imo. Send me a PM when it starts whoever is playing we can group up!
