Tip - RGMercs vs raid requirements

I've been starting to raid on Project Lazarus and the guild I raid with has some requirements/expectations for raid members. I wanted to get a thread going to get some discussions started about how best to meet these requirements. I tried the automation they suggested, its okay... but I'd rather use RGMercs if possible. E3 is okay from a configuration and operation standpoint but it seems to use way more resources than VV + RGMercs + the extras I like running.

Just a reminder, this thread is for open discussion and suggestions around how to handle these requirements. This thread might help anyone in a similar boat who wants to raid with RGMercs but also has some expectations to meet and specific instructions to execute.

Cures

In E3 you can specify what spell to use to cure a specific ailment. Here is an example of what cures are expected for a Cleric...

XTarget Healing

A list of XTarget assignments are given out at the beginning of a raid and its expected that you configure your healers for this list. These are the priority heals but you still need to keep your group alive as well.

Taunt

Its suggested that tanks create buttons to toggle taunt + aggro generating abilities off/on depending on whether you are assigned an official tanking role.

MGB

The ability to cast specific MGBs upon command.

Anchor

In E3 there is a command that the driver can issue that tells the group to anchor to a specific location or target. The group isn't really 'camping' as we know it. The group will stand in a spot but will run as far as needed to assist you when fighting, after the fight, they run back to the anchor spot. In the raids i've been in with this guild, the raid leader will instruct the groups to park non tanks in a specific spot in a few places during the raid.

Backoff

E3 has the ability for the driver to issue a command to make the group stop fighting. Likewise, there's an inverse command to toggle this back off again so they continue.

Other random things i've noticed while raiding with RGMercs

  • When there are targets on the raid's xtarget list, my tank can't run freely. He will take a few steps then stop. I run some more, he takes a few steps and stops. The only way I can get around this is to toggle pause on my tank until i get to where I need to be but then I usually have to get the rest of my group parked somewhere and execute some more commands. Fighting with this was frustrating as I couldn't keep up with the rest of the raid force and it felt like I was fighting with RGMercs the whole time.
  • How do you set RGMercs to assist the raid MA? I had to create a button for my driver to assist the MA and I just hoped my group jumped in when they saw me fighting a mob.

This is what I have so far, if anyone has any suggestions it would be appreciated. If anyone else is in the same boat and has additional things to add to the list, feel free to mention it. I am hoping for a constructive thread where we can sort this all out.

This is the only thing that I have had problems with myself tbh, some raids it works fine as we will only have 1 MA, but on others that we have to split DPS or say Casters and Melee, and have 2 MAs, I find that all toons no matter who they should be assisting, all end up on XTar#1.

Want to handle this one out of the box.
It would be nice to add full support for switching between raid MAs, and it will likely happen at some point, but I don't see what would stop you from simply changing your outside assist to the second MA with a button or alias.

You can check /rgl help, I'm on my phone, but I think the commands are /rgl addoa Dude and /rgl deloa Guy
And turning ofn outside assist is accomplished with /rgl set assistoutside on (or true, or 1). All of this can be done in the GUI as well but I've found buttons and aliases with a CLI is faster for some things.

Cures
This is largely on you. The counters stuff, you already have the existing options to do in your class options (use group heals as cure).
You have the ability to turn off mercs using Cure AA so that you can keep your radiant or purify timers for whatever you want. What, how and when you use it is your decision. You can make your own scripts, use a LEM, etc. However you would like to detect and command a cure to happen.

I would like to explore using mercs to do this, but it is a distant plan, not immediate, and I would like to see the recent actors update merged before I even think about it any further.

Xtarg healing
Mercs already supports xtarget healing. Is there a question?

You should change modes, or edit your config. All of our tanks have a DPS mode. You can now also stay in a tank mode and cut off certain abilities in the fly with the update Derple pushed last night, so you may not even need to edit a config.

MGB
I'm not clear on what you are asking for, And I'm unsure if this is even a mercs thing, as it seems like something that you manually do on command.
If you wanted to automate certain MGB, you would need to be more specific. In general, you should just be more specific.
Existing code could be used to make that happen on certain combat buffs/burns using pre_activate and conditions. It isn't feasible for me to post code here, on my phone, and tbh it is worthy of a post in itself. I recommend you check the example class config in the class config folder and hit us up on discord.

Back off
Have you looked at /rgl backoff ? This should do anything you need.

"my tank can't run freely"
This may be adjusted slightly, but this is entirely in your control. It's doing what it is coded to do, ultimately. You can turn off autoengage either temporarily or permanently as you'd like if you want more manual control over your driver.

How to assist
The outside assist feature can be used to accomplish this. You can set mercs to assist whoever the heck you want. It is in the GUI with some CLI info in the post above this one.

We will also by default target the raid MA's target, *if* the raid leader has the leadership AA and assigns it, which is not always a given on emu(even if outside assist is false). However, you can find tune control by using the outside assist list and I somewhat prefer it.

Overall, raid assisting is another area I would like to improve, but it is functional now, in my experience and to my knowledge.

Sorry I missed one

Why can't you set a camp with a high assist radius? It's exactly what this sounds like to me.
Stuff like this is also readily done with scripts, however.

Another thing to mention.
Right now, half of the Laz class configs don't even have the laz custom spells added at all. They are not fit for endgame use without some additional work.
Once you really get into the endgame, the amount of clickies and other stuff almost guarantees that you need a custom config.

The default configs that are more or less ready for the initial stuff is SHD, CLR, DRU, SHM, ENC, MAG (other than pet item stuff) and WIZ.

Of course, you may have guildmates who have a custom config to share, or you may not.

This is not for the faint of heart, guys. It would be much less work to adapt to e3n.

Mercs will likely get there, but it isn't happening this week.

Is there a CLI command to switch modes? Being able to button this would be a big help.

Missed this CLI command, sorry! This is exactly what I was looking for.

Is there a CLI command to toggle this on/off? Just having a button would fix this for me.

This is what it sounded like to me too. I guess E3 is essentially setting a camp with just a return point and no assist radius. CLI command to do this?

I played with what was recommended, for a good week, and I like Mercs better. I might be fine with using E3 for raiding IF it was just another combat assist automation... but its not, its a whole entire distribution of MQ, one that seems to be more resource intensive.

I'm not too worried about the cures thing but thought I'd mention it. I am not sure why they are declaring specific cures for specific ailments, wouldn't Mercs just know that AilmentX = Curse and cast accordingly? Seems to be more granular than it needs to be. On the flip side, I do see the merit in declaring ailments to ignore, anything with an absurd counter that you aren't meant to cure for example.

I think in summary, what would help me a lot are CLI commands for all of these things so I can set up a button that essentially puts Mercs into a raid config that I specify, then I could have the inverse button that puts it back to my regular customized settings. Perhaps all of these exist and I just need to read the ingame FAQ a little closer on all my classes. Wouldn't this also make LEMs a bit easier to write? My issue with LEM is I know what needs done but without the corresponding CLI commands I worry that my LEM will conflict with what Mercs wants to do if I don't include some Mercs command that makes it okay.

@Algar you were working on all the class configs recently, is that all done now? Am I good to go into all my classes and edit the configs without worry that I'll conflict with what you were working on?

It looks like most of my questions were answered but lets keep this discussion going to see what else we should be aware of from a raiding with Mercs standpoint.

Mercs will likely get there, but it isn't happening this week.

This is totally fine! I only go to guild pick up events where the raid leader is doing most of the heavy lifting for the sake of raid education. There's not much expected of me yet. I still have a ways to go to build up my group to meet the requirements to be slotted into a more permanant, more serious, raiding group that raids regularly together.

I am never "done". The major structural changes have been done for couple of months though.
If you want the improvements made to the default, it will always be up to you to pay attention to it and decide whether you'd like to implement it, or rebase your own copy, my dude.

wouldn't Mercs just know that AilmentX = Curse and cast accordingly?
a) not everything radiant cure can clear has counters b) if you just used radiant cure on dumb shit you could've used your group cure on (that has counters), you won't be able to clear something more important. I am not saying that entire list is like that, I didn't read the list, were I to make my own that would be the reasoning behind it.

I have recently joined a raid guild on laz , i am far from Ready to raid, So by the time i am i am sure the guys will have added anything that's missing ;)

I was using e3n but i am now using RGmercs and think its great for general exping and hopefully will be good for raids when i need it
