Yeah tried adding Silent Shot a variety of ways to DPS 100 or ambush tag.
First time playing a FTP 105 ranger and KA11 is rocking it with autofire + random headshots. I'm trying a version of VorpalChicken's 110 ranger, downgraded to 105.

One thing I still can't get to ever work is the out-of-combat opener spell: Silent Shot - 41k dmg, up 2.5x additional based on distance from target. I also noticed a few other rangers (1/2) have asked about it with no solutions yet.

It's listed as one of the main DPS rotation spells for EoK rangers, so I'd love for it to work. It should fire on a single pull or the first mob of a multi-pull, but KA always jumps to autofire or another attack. I've tried setting it to |100 and |100|ambush, but no luck yet. Note: MQ2Melee is off on the ranger, /melee returns unknown command.

Welp, gonna leave this up for anybody else searching for answer. If anybody has further fine tuning for the spell setup, please let me know.

I made two changes and KA is now using Silent Shot at least some of the time. The arrow components are now disappearing, though not at 1 per engagement, so it must still miss it sometimes.

I changed my [Melee] section set to assist/engage at 99% health instead of the default 95%. And in [DPS] I removed the |ambush tag, I don't think KA wanted to fire this spell via the tag.
 
I seem to remember a section marked spell/ disc before combat in I think the melee section of my ka ini. I'm not home right now to access it but look at either rogue or I believe zerkers use sucker punch. Sorry I'm not more help but I remember a spot in the ini just for this.
 
I have never played a ranger, can you actually see the ambush thing being used? Or are you relying on the fact components are disappearing?

A brief look at the macro, i don't actually see an instance where ambush spells are cast. In the combatcast loop it /breaks (checking if the ambush tag is present) to go straight to weave/mash, but doesn't appear to show ambush? only 3 instances of 'ambush' in the .mac also. But it could use something separate to cast an opener move.... but then the ambush tag doesn't get used ? i dunno...
 
Thanks guys. Yeah |ambush might be for combat abilities only.

Previously it never fired in MQ2 window KA messages. The first message after "MA attack called: mob name" would be autofire activating. It ran for hours and I only noticed it wasn't using it because the arrow components were staying at 1150 count permanently.

With the above Melee/no-ambush change, now it does announce using Silent Shot and will burn one Class 3 Wood Silver Tip Arrow from inventory. But in 45 minutes and 100+ mobs, it's only used 6 arrows, so it still must be missing it sometimes.

This group is running on a clunker computer though, I'll try moving the ranger to a faster comp and having him as front screen to see if that improves it. I've got MQ2eqwire going, which is a big help, but this current comp is definately at the edge of what it can run with a 5-toon group.

If someone else is pulling, then once the mob is aggro the ranger will be "in combat" so. Basically silent shot will only work on un aggro mobs.

Snippet from Silent Shot spell description : This arrow can only be used when you are out of combat

On another note while soloing with this spell, you can use fluster or blusterbolt after pulling with silent shot, which allows you to re use silent shot over and over on the same mob.

The Ambush tag is used before your /attach but it is for each mob, not the first mob in a group of mobs. You would need to create an outer variable in the Main sub and set that variable on in the combat routine, after calling the beforeattack routine(/if (!${NewOuterVar}) /varset NewOuterVar 1). In the combatreset routine you would need to check if !${Me.XTAggroCount} and set the defined outer variable to 0(off) (/if (!${Me.XTAggroCount}) /varset NewOuterVar 0).

This would allow you to include the newly defined outer variable in your conditions. If it is zero then you are attacking the first or only mob.
