Question - Protecting Files (3 Viewers)

I saw a post somewhere that had instructions on how to protect files or designate files not to be updated (or something like that) in your settings.local.toml file, however I can't find the post anywhere. I have an issue where my UI and character settings keep resetting (chat settings, hot buttons, display settings etc.), so it sounded like adding those files may resolve the issue. Does this sound familiar? Can someone point me to an article on it?

The file you are talking about is for ignoring files for Redfetch updates, like if you modified a Lua script you were watching.

Overwrite protection can be found here,

https://www.redguides.com/community/resources/redfetch.3177/#-overwrite-protection

That's for preserving specific files within a resource.

If you want to stop downloading a resource altogether, even if we make it a "staff pick", you can opt out by adding this to your settings.local.toml,

this opts out of kissassist, which is resource id 4,
TOML:
[LIVE.SPECIAL_RESOURCES.4]
opt_in = false

to open your settings.local.toml, click the settings.local.toml button in the shortcuts tab. (or from CLI, redfetch open config)

Not sure exactly what you're referencing but I keep my eqclient.ini file read only 99% of the time.

redfetch doesn't respect read-only files, but it won't touch your eqclient.ini!

That is the info I was looking for! Thanks! Also thank you for helping Darkwynd3 I'll try setting them to read only. It primarily seems to be my bard that keeps getting reset.

You may also want to try setting more delay between loading characters - if they load too fast from the same eqclient.ini file, they can drop back to default. Adding a few extra seconds can help address this. There is also a thread somewhere about setting up individual eqclient.ini files for each toon, with a single install of EQ. Searching eqclient.ini should get you there.
