Problem - Pet backing off when HunterPetTank sometimes

Sometimes when going and finding mobs while running under HunterPetTank, pet will go and hit a mob (or cast), then come back to me and not finish the mob off. The target actually drops too. Any ideas? Here's my ini:

1) with DPSOn=0, your pet won't attack anything in camp. I would recommend at least put a malo or clicky or something in there and turn it to 1.
2) I think the ChaseAssist should either be 0 or 1
3) making a guess here that this is the situation:

pet goes tearing off across the zone to kill something (<5000 by MaxRadius)
doesn't kill it in one shot and comes tearing across the zone back to mage
drops aggro and tries again...

If so, I think your pet is outrunning aggro.

While not identical, my bard puller with selo's would drop aggro whenever he tried to pull anything more than ~1000 away from group.

removing velocity will slow pet down and make it easier for mob to keep aggro.
If I'm right about mage not following pet, changing chaseasssist to 1 will make the mage follow the pet on pulls. (I'm not certain of this one)
changing DPSOn to 1 or 2 will turn on pet melee in camp.
 
I'll try the DPSOn and ChaseAssist setting.

However, the maxradius gives me wide swaths of running around the zone. The pet won't go after a mob if it's not within whatever the range is set by the game (may be a function of the TLP server - I don't know).

we're not pulling to camp. We're running around looking for mobs in the mob list to kill (which is working fine). However, when we get in rage of a mob, macro will send pet in. Sometimes the pet will cast on it, then back off (dropping target)...others the pet will go and attack the mob, get it to half, then come back to me. Other times it'll "just work".

I'm not nuking anything, but I can mem a low lvl nuke and cast it if it helps things run better. will advise.

Oh, and I added Velocity because sometimes while running around with jboots, the pet falls way back...leading to constantly following a mob around until pet catches up. Some mobs also can run fast when they get low health, velocity allows the pet to keep up.
 
MQ2Melee pet control will back off pet during mob flurry/rampage.... an annoying feature I have noted. That is of course unless it has changed in recent times... I updated my macros to counter that some time ago.
 
I noticed this the other day on my mage and when I looked closer at the melee file this little bit was hidden in there:

I will add a little more information for those of you who use the role HunterPetTank and pull with your pet. There can be issues with this because the pulling is done separately from the tanking. Now if you are in a zone where the mobs are closer to the level of your pet, this should never be an issue, but if you are hunting mobs way lower levels than your pet, then this can be an issue.

Here is the way kiss is setup to work as HunterPetTank while pulling with pet.

Step 1. Look for a mob to pull/kill.
Step 2. Send in pet and wait for agro.(pull with pet)
Step 3. Got agro pull pet back to camp/location.
Step 4. Wait for mob to get within combat range and send in pet.(pet is tank)
Step 5. Kill mob.
Step 6. repeat starting from step 1.

Between Step 3 and Step 4 is where the problem can occur. What if the mob is damaged to the point that it runs away and not chase your pet back to camp?. I have seen this happen before and causes the macro to hang waiting for the mob. So just keep that in mind when running as HunterPetTank and hunting low level mobs.
