Version of KissAssist.mac?
12.001
When did your problem start?
Immediately upon downloading MQ2 / KA
Character Role?
  1. Assist
  2. PetTank
  3. PullerPetTank
What class is having this issue?
  1. Cleric
  2. Druid
  3. Enchanter
  4. Magician
  5. Necromancer
  6. Shaman
How often does this issue occur?
Always
Can you reproduce the issue?
Yes
I'm not 100% sure that this is a KA problem. I just realized that I have a targeting issue even when KA is not running. Strangely, targeting commands work consistently for some pets but not others, even though they all have permanent names.

I 6 box mag enc dru clr shm nec with mage pet tank. /mac kissassist pettank works great with the mage. When other characters /mac kissassist assist with the mage pet targeted they initially say Kissassisting >> magepetname >> at 99% but then I very quickly start getting messages that "I don't see anyone by that name around here". The message is in an EQ window, not in the MQ2 window. The mage pet is not invisible or out of range. There is no targeting problem if the other characters assist the mage pc but then spells that I only want to cast on the MA cast on the mage instead of the mage pet. Is there something else that I need to look for to resolve this issue or is it typical functionality?

Might be wrong, but I think you should target the pets owner and not the pet when you start the macro on the assist chars..

It sure if this is the right way but for me,
mage: kissasssit pettank {puller}
puller: kissassist puller {mage}
rest of the group: kissassist assist {mage}

I don’t actually target anyone, I supply it in the command. This allows me to setup some easy hot keys

i think Robban is correct. You target the mage, not the pet.

You want the mage pet to get buffed with things like aegis and jorrleag / etc etc tank buffs. Not the mage. As far as I'm concerned, you should just be able to /mac kissassist assist and it treats whatever it is, pet or pc, as a pc. If a flag needs to be added for whatever reason... i dont know why though.

Found it. Version 12.001. The problem crops up within sub GroupWatch (called when ini setting GroupWatchOn=1|xx). If the the pet is tanking and you have a healer (cleric whoever) assigned to assist the pet as if it were an PC which is useful to give tank buffs. The check for ${Spawn[=${MainAssist}].ID} returns NULL unless its an PC. But if you also add an || check ${Spawn[${MainAssist}]} it sees the pet, but if a player is on a mount it barfs and returns a string causing the thing to fail, so you gotta instead check for NULL... I stopped there because it gets weedy quick. The simple solution for now is to change your INI file for the character that monitors the pet (cleric in my case) to GroupWatchOn=0.

Pets cannot be MA. The master is defaulted to being MA if you target a pet. If you don't want the Mount try ${Spawn[=${MainAssist}]} you have to use the "=" to get an exact match.

I am a little unclear on the correct setup and resolution to this issue. I have also started having this issue recently and it appears to have come after I changed GroupWatchOn=1. However, changing GroupWatchOn=0 did not resolve this issue( I can reinstall everything and see if this helps).

I also noticed it does not appear to be assigning the main assist to the mage who owns the pet I have targeted when I run /mac kissassist {magepet}, and I am fairly sure it used to do this, instead it is toggling it on or off... i.e., if the mage was assigned main assist, then it is toggled off the next time I run /mac kissassist.

Again all boxes except the pet owner of the pet I target to run /mac kissassist and puller have the issue where they get the message ""I don't see anyone by that name around here..." when they would normally be assisting or targeting the mage pet to heal/buff. I normally man the puller, however, if I allow the puller to do their thing, they do not appear to have the issue( it may be that they are pulling singles so they don't need to check the main assist for the mob?) , but they already have a mob targeted when they return to camp and this appears to alleviate the issue for them.

Edit: I have, of course, tried not using mounts and various other things which may not be related to the issue, but the results were unclear. I wont be able to look further at this for a day or so!

@juxtaposedirony What Role do you have your mage set to? When using /mac kissassist {madepet}, I am assuming that {magepet} refers to the mage pet's name. Try having everyone target your mage and then start kiss with no params. /mac kissassist
