I have no dialog box... the one where we use to type /Mac kissassist.... I’m no IT wizard.

you dont have to type your /mac kissassist in the MQ window.. any chat window will do

HOWEVER, make sure you set the default chat channel on all your tabs to "fellowship" or some other private channel (if you're in your own private guild that works too- avoid player made chat channels as the numbers sometimes change). If you forget the slash you might end up sending "mac kissassist" to the general channel. I've seen that before....

Yeah that is very true

Is there more to this command? In the Main Chat it says its not a valid command use /help. I have same issue as above

this was fixed several days ago. If you're completely updated (MQ2 and EQ), including using the RG launcher, you should have your MQ2 chat window functional.

Except that it's not. I use the Red Guides Launcher and I still don't have an MQ Chat window unless I type in /mqchat reset. Even then that window still bugs out for me.

Your download history doesn't include the latest version of Very Vanilla, so you're not up to date.

Does the launcher not update Vanilla automatically? I guess I was assuming that it did. So I paid a bit more attention and found an "install button" to the right of the Latest version.....

The launcher doesn't automatically update no. When you run the launcher it shows you the last time you updated and the last time of update, you still have to update/install.

The new launcher provides you with the ability to update Test/Live/Beta/EMU all from one interface as well as gives you access to update any paid plugins or watched macros from the very same interface. It's a QoL improvement but the idea wasn't to have it always monitoring and still allow the user the freedom to update selectively in the event they weren't ready to update yet. Sometimes VV patches but the patch isn't mandatory, hence the optional update.

When you require the update is when EQ patches and parts of the internals must be changed to fix all the bits and bobs that make it function correctly. In the case of the mq2chatwnd plugin, the update does correct that issue, however the update isn't required for mq2 to function without crashing. So it's not going to give you a date warning if you don't patch.

Hope this clears things up.
