Hmm, works fine on desktop but not on laptop, nearly identical, why?

I've tried this with several different compiles and for some reason I can't get MQ2 to work on my laptop. It works fine on my desktop. I have everything unzipped to a folder and I have 0 problems on the desktop.

On the laptop everything appears fine, unzipped to the same place, I click MQ2 and it fires up / goes to the systray and then when I log in to my char it's not loaded and I don't have my notaddicted window etc.

I'm guessing it's something really stupid and small I'm missing.

Thanks in advance, you guys rock here :D

Win 7 on both, sorry meant to type that.
Still not loading on the laptop.
Did a clean install and ran EQ / MQ as admin.

When you were saying run as admin were you talking EQ or MQ or both? Figured play it safe and run both.

Anything else simple it could be? I can live without it but when I'm so used to it...

everquest.exe
eqgame.exe
macroquest2.exe

All should be set as
Run as Admin
Windows Compatibility Windows XP SP3

I can't find everquest.exe was that replaced by the patcher?
I'm looking manually and doing a search and getting nothing.

Sorry I'm such a newb again, been so long.:D

P.S. fippy rocks

Its in your everquest folder same as eqgame.exe

Nope

Folders are SOE online > installed games > Everquest

Inside I've got eqgame.exe

When I scroll down the list looking for everquest.exe it goes

Everfrost sounds
everquest manual
exo

No everquest.exe in there. There no alternative file or something like that?

This is confusing the crap out of me. Thanks for the quick responses though.

Ok, now it's giving me MQ incorrect client version.

That seems a lot easier to fix.
I've downloaded the newest compile but I'll give it another shot.
Is it possible something didn't get deleted right the last time etc or what else could show that?

Thanks again.

In your normal mq2 folder sort the files by Type then delete all MQ2****.dll files before copying in the latest compile. Make sure your Eq has the latest patch as well.

completely deleted everything for the 3rd time.
Downloaded and unzipped the compile again.
set MQ2 to xp sp3 compatability and admin.
Still couldn't find everquest.exe (think you're right about the launcher)

Works great now, honestly not 100% sure why, everything was admin the first time but sometimes it just takes a reinstall to make things right.

Big thanks to you though.

Problem is solved, but for future note, the launcher.exe for sony's station launcher replaces everquest.exe, however since they are going back to a single launcher for each game you may want to go ahead and download the everquest launcher and start using that (Just google everquest launcher)

Thanks, you would think they would put this information out there and not let it be a mystery to the ppl trying to play. Maybe it isn't that hard to find but I know theres been times in the past when half my guild logs in and says "new patcher wtf" etc.
