Exciting news from the mothership:

You'll soon be able to right-click the MQ2 icon and select which character to login. Even better, MQ2Autologin is being built into core, and it will now encrypt your passwords.

Update: this feature is now live. Run update.exe and let us know what you think

Re: MQ2 getting WinEQ2 functionality next release

That is amazing and awesome and any other A words that make it cool!

I guess the biggest question I would have is does this mean we all have to use our logins at isboxer/innerspace to make it work or is it a clone type plugin that does what winEQ does?

Re: MQ2 getting WinEQ2 functionality next release

Will we HAVE to change the way we log in??
Will it create a new "click-box" per account in task-bar, or will it "stack" the windows under one icon on the task-bar?

Re: MQ2 getting WinEQ2 functionality next release

My assumption is that you can keep logging in and using whatever launcher program you currently use.

For those sick of using alternate launcher programs, you will be able to use MQ2 instead.

I will release this today.
Basically it's a new menu on the task icon called Profiles.
The first time you click it you will see a Create New... menu item.

You click it and a small window asking for 5 things will pop up.

Server, login, pass, character name and path to eqgame.exe

Once you have that filled in you click an OK button and your profile will be encrypted and saved in mq2autologin.ini

You can save as many profiles as you want and they will sort per server on the menu.

Each server profile has a Load All option so once you have added all your accounts for a server you just click the Load All and away it goes, it will login all of the characters under that server. (Well all that are check marked)

Check marks: each character can be marked for loading by simply right clicking the character name to toggle it marked on or off.

Loading individual accounts:
You just left click on a character name and if it is check marked, it will load and the name will be changed to <Charname> (Loaded)

Unloading individual accounts:

If a char is loaded and has the text (Loaded) behind it you just left click it to unload.

I kept this as simple as I possibly could.
I can add window positioning and stuff I guess but for now it's just a easy way to login a box team on a server.

If you currently use batch files or hotkeys or whatever, those should still be usable if you don't want to click the menu.
Example: (this example assumes you have created profiles in mq2autologin.ini)
Batch file can launch your accounts by sending the server_charname to the eqgame client like this: <path to eqgame.exe> patchme /login:drinal_eqmule

And that's really all there is to it... You would of course change the server and Charname to your server and your char (drinal and eqmule)

And finally, no, you don't HAVE to use this feature, mq2autologin will be backwards compatible to handle any old way you feel more comfortable with.

I strongly recommend getting this setup though because it encrypts your password in a way that in theory makes it only decryptable on YOUR computer, this means that even if you accidently post your mq2autologin.ini somewhere, or someone gets hold of it, the information inside it will be useless to them.
Questions?

eqmule, when using the new method, is there a way to bypass the launcher using the shortcut method with patchme and /login?

Launcher is always going to be bypassed no matter what method you use since that's what the patchme parameter does... (I know it's not logical, if it was they would have named it nopatch or dontpatchme)

When I am using the patchme and /login I am pointing to eqgame.exe rather than launchpad.exe.

Tying to nail down what you said: if I were to point to launchpad.exe and use the patchme /login parms it would go straight to eqgame.exe and bypass itself as if I had pointed to eqgame.exe?

Ok, so will continue to point to eqgame.exe. Gotcha, thx Mate! I could just see someone trying to get this to work while pointing to Launchpad.exe...

Will we have to wait until next months patch or will Redguides have a Vanilla compile with his awesome feature sooner? Thanks!

One last question. Any way to incorporate the load all feature to load all of my wineq profiles?

No, I'm afraid you are going to have to use the create new command to create new profiles.

Im sure someone can whip up a tool that can import to the new format, since it's well documented and open source, but it won't be me. ;)
The rest of this month I'm just going to enjoy it and camp me some acofs.

This is almost amazing, but not quite yet.
updated and setup profile
load six accounts and the first account crashed
reboot computer and try again
load same six account and #2,#3,#5 crashed

Probable just my crappy internet service, I have long noticed that I have to load each account slowly. Get more then 3 or 4 loading at the same time and some aren't gonna make it.

Also, for the less skilled typists among us the possibility of editing the profiles would be nice. Appears if you mess up your typing you get to delete the entry in the ini file and start over.

Very sorry I won't be able to use this...

It looks Ausome and i think ill have a use for it...now and then....

However, it is missing 2 very important options:
1) Edit a profile already created.
2) Delete a profile when you no longer want it.

Maybe it has these function and I just can't find them...(then please instruct me), if not i think they would be very important...at least the delete-ability, that could be used to "correct/edit" mistakes.

Oh, thought of a 3rd feature that would be nice...a "browse" option when creating path to file as not all (mine) are not the same path as yours.

thxs tho for the great effort,

If you want to remove a profile, manually edit the profile out of mq2autologin.ini and restart MQ2.

It's open source so if someone wants to create a profile editor, go for it, adding the menu was probably the most boring thing I ever done, so I'm not exactly exited about touching it further lol, getting those menus to popup as well as accepting check marks was incredibly difficult because it's not properly documented on msdn..,
I wanted a edit and a delete menu to popup but I couldn't get that to work and at the same time keep the check marks...

Anyway... For now... You will have to delete profiles directly by opening the ini file in notepad...
