i posted a similar question in KA section, but i titled it poorly so i doubt the right person will look at it to answer...

so i'm wondering if there is anyway to have my wizards check their distance to a mob and move away if necessary before casting their rain spells?

hm... a stick arguement maybe?

though I forget potential ickyness when your caster automatically back up... into other things or off things.

I would think putting a condition to check distance and not casting AE would be better, if your macro allows for such a thing.

yea, that could work in a downshit...and i could toggle it on or off depending....what's the command to check distance?

not really sure how to go about that sort of thing in a downshit off hand. My macro allows for "conditions" to be checked before casting nukes/debuffs/dots, making it so you can set up all kinda of restrictions. If the one you are using allows for that, awesome then. Putting in a downshit, will take some pondering methinks... =)

how ever the TLO you are looking for to get distance is Target. It inherits the spawn TLO thus, you can utilize ${Target.Distance} to get an exact distance between you and the target. Then you will want to compare it to a number, say like ${Target.Distance}>30 && ${Target.Distance}<200 , which would be "is target farther then 30' out, and closer then 200'"
